- The Akron Summit Community Action, Inc. hosted its Framing A Vision For Our Futures’ Future held at Buchtel CLC which is an event geared towards improving the lives of our youth by inspiring them and giving them hope. “There is a major crisis in that age group (16-24 years of age) of not knowing how to move forward, not really having hope for their tomorrow.” Said Veronica Sims the Special Projects and Government Affairs Administration for Akron Summit Community Action, Inc.
The guess speaker for the event was Maurice Clarett who is nationally known for his outstanding talents during his 2002 freshman year as a football player with The Ohio State University. During his freshman year Maurice rush for 1,237 yards with 18 touchdowns that helped lead The Ohio State Buckeyes to a BCS National Championship with a record of 14 wins and zero losses. Maurice Clarett was the first freshman since 1995 as the leading rusher on a National Championship team.
With all of the fame from his football success, Maurice achievements was quickly overshadowed by his off the field activities which eventually lead to several arrest, imprisonment and eventually his dismal from The Ohio State University.
Today Maurice Clarett is a successful entrepreneur whose passion is giving back and inspiring others. He travels the country speaking to schools, universities, churches and business organizations informing his audience that it is never too late to make a change to better your life.
