I saw one of these in Sydney last summer. Great concept for our part of the world.

For every foot off the water you can see 12 miles, the bridge looks good.

Is it accident that several of these new explorers look very similar to the original FPB’s

I know man, but I'm happy because Steve Dashew doesn't allow his designs to be manufactured anymore. Circa Marine has their 24 meter boat that looks great. These are the go to designs as far as I'm concerned. FPB boats are amazing.

I have little doubt about the influence of Mr. Dashew’s pioneering work. Yet, in this case, I suspect, function follows form. To attain the desired speed, efficiency, and stability, fluid dynamics would dictate such a hull form.

Also the dimensions are nearly the same as FPB78. But Not all Design ideas from Steve Dashew seem to bei understood, especially the reason for the narrow tail... The original is unreached.

@stevenwright6573 it's a shame he doesn't let anyone use his designs, they will be lost to the world when he does.

John, looks like it is going to be a spectacular yacht when completed. Hope you get to do a full walkthrough when sea trials start.

So if I had and was cruising in a FPB, it might be mistaken for a XPM. Good looking boat, but I wonder if they were as careful as Steve.

Finally!! A builder is using CPP on a long range yacht. The benefits are huge. What brand is being used? Did any of the warships you served on use CPP?

We specified Nogva CPP gear. Nogva supplies the whole propulsion package including the Scania engines, CP gear, shaft, sterntube and propeller.

Negative - The Type 22 and 23 frigates never had them. I was on the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible and I dont think it had them either 🙌⚓️

I love these style of boats, FPB, Circamarine copies, Bering 70, but what I don't get is why so much wasted fore deck space? It makes the salon too small for a 85 foot vessel. The flying bridge is tiny, yet that is where a huge amount of day time cruising will be spent.
Probably I have no idea on designing these, but its so obvious that surely some one will come up with a solution. Bering is close, but i don't think there 70 is actually designed for Atlantic ocean crossings

    Is thsi the ICE Class?

  • @ironichumorist
    @ironichumorist Рік тому

she needs some sort of foredeck entertainment space and a larger swrim platform - preferably articulated so what you can easily walk in and out of the water with dive gear on.

THE ARKSEN, FPB, XPM, AND I'M SURE A FEW OTHER DESIGNERS AND BUILDERS WILL COME FORWARD IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE EARNING CAPASITY AND ECONOMIC VALUE OF THESE LONG RANGE ARCTIC READY VESSELS WILL SURE HAVE MANNY ROLES AS AN ADVENTURE SCIENCE VESSEL AND NOT JUST PLEASURE YACHTS. MY HOPE IS THAT WE WILL DEVELOP THIS CLASS OF VESSELS FOR OBSERVATION AND GEO SCIENCE MISSIONS. (ROCK ON ARKSEN) WE NEED ABOUT 1000 SMALL NETWORKED WEATHER STATIONS SET UP IN THE ARCTIC TO LEARN EXACTLY HOW THE EARTH BREATHS. IMPORTANT MISSIONS WORKING WITH THE ARCTIC FORM AND THE POLAR PARTNERSHIP COUNTRIES. THIS IS TIMELY SCIENCE WHICH MUST BE DONE TO CLEARLY PREDICT THE FUTURE STORMS AND LOCATIONS BEFORE HAND. WE NEED TO RECORD, SURVEY, GET BASE LINE GEO DATA, AND WORK WITH THE NATIVE POPULATION IN THE NORTH TO HELP PRESERVE AND PREPARE CULTURE'S WITH THE FAST CHANGES IN THERE LANDSCAPE. I THINK THERE IS A BIGGER MARKET FOR THESE VESSEL THAN YACHTS. WE WOULD ALL WOULD LOVE A YACHT LIKE THIS, BUT I WOULD RATHER SEE MARINE SCIENCE JOBS FOR OUR YOUTH AND THE NATIVES IN THE NORTH LEARNING HOW TO USE THESE GREAT TECH PLATFORMS. LONG LIVE THIS SERIES OF VESSEL AND THANKS TO ALL DESIGNERS AND MOSTLY STEVE AND LINDA DASHEW FOR COMMITTING A LIFE TIME OF WORK AND PASSION TO TEACH US ALL HOW TO SURF THE OCEAN SEAS, WITH THE SAFETY, SPEED, AND LOW FUEL BURN, TO HELP OUR PLANET LEARN HOW TO DEAL WITH FAST CHANGING FUTURE SEAS. BALANCE OF THE SEA TECHNOLOGIES, HOMER ALASKA, CARL

Looks pretty awesome. 3 beds though seems like too small amd they sacrifice space for that angular bow shape. Should be 'beamier', just my rambling opinion and you know I'm kidding. Some troll keep following me and pointing out things I say in jest or as,an inside joke and pointing out 'how dumb I am' when clearly what I said was a joke

I hear you, don’t ever try humour on the internet some sad people just can’t comprehend. Worse still is that you get caught wondering if they were also being humorous as surely no one could be that dumb.👍
