You create the *rough sketch* with a pencil, line it (*create guide lines*) with a fine tip pen, and erase the sketch so that the lines are left and you color it for a *finish*! What they released is what would be the rough sketch of a drawing. Most artists don't draw too many details in a rough sketch, or they'll get too tired later and not want to work on it anymore. (Also! Every studio makes it's "rough sketch" differently, this video showed that they were rushing to get the eough sketch of this episode done uvu)
Also, the original artist for the DMMD game has a really unique style (Name is Honyalala, they also did the pv for a miku hatsune song, "-LOL- lots of laugh"), and it's usually difficult to incorporate a certain artist's unique and uncommon style into a drawing. (pretty much like copying, without the tracing paper!)
