Thank you for the interesting repair :-) Have seen a similar prob with these Lumix cams before (perhaps due to laterally banging the lens while extended, causing misalignment of the rotating elements). May I suggest directed precision air blow over sensor and lens surfaces to reduce / remove dust while performing the repair? Have seen post-repair dust artifacts when camera is held obliquely to a strongish light source, degrading optimal optical performance.
You ar my hero! Thanks to you and "Robert Hosea" I dared to fix my DMC-FX55 it was similar from outside to DMC-ZX1 but unfortunately other inside. I could not get into lens but i played screwdriver and finger with gears I was fortunate enough to repair lens problem
I have 2 similar cameras TZ5 and ZX3 which both fell once on the ground consequently stopped focusing well and generated unsharp pictures. I set them aside but kept them and both are nearly new. I suspect they share similar problem w/ lens focusing mechanism. Looks like I am up to the challenge to fix them both.
I was hoping to find what is a way t remove the lowpass pre-sensor IR filter from the sensor and seems there is no such thing!!!! Is this 3:45 the sensor itself and if so, is it possible to detach the IR filter. I want to convert this camera into a dedicated IR camera and don't care about the visible light. Anyhow, thanks for this upload that is useful.
RSelectro HiI think they use a dry silicone or invisible lubricator, because I have serviced different brand pointshot lenses and never see any grease applied. I always use just a few drops of liquid silicone for lubrication, what product you use on the video?
Panasonic DMC TZ7 they turn off the camera off and on again - This error is resolved. It may help to have the light tapping with a pencil on the lens in the extended state. While holding the camera with the lens down. Thus, in my case was not necessary disassembly.

It would be nice if you could tell us what you are doing in certain parts of the video.

Thanks a lot for the guidance ...can you please mention the IR filter ..and how do we remove it
Same question here. Are you using a lightweight oil on the lens rings at 5:40? What are you applying here to free things up?

An guy solving my problem 10years ago
i have same camera but doesnt work it say system zoom error what the problem plese
OK, at 5:40 what kind of lubrication are you applying?
Think is silicone liquid I don't think is good idea to apply any grease on the lens barrels
Chantel Chacon Bouchard but the original lens is lubricated too, it is important for proper function

Chantel Chacon Bouchard I think the plastic the built the barrels is a material that auto lubricated itself
you do not put no lubrication on a lens of a camera, it will become a dust magnet and will stop operating and become matted inside
Que producto utiliza para limpiar??
Thanks! But my problem is not solved 😔
