There's a Chinese drama series which you can find on UA-cam called Three Kingdoms, it's pretty accurate to the history of the time. If you watch that you'll realise that Cao Cao did not want to unite China but rather rule over it all, he was of common descent but harboured imperial ambitions. Whereas Liu Bei, on the other hand, did not wish to hold any position of authority but wanted to unite China and restore the Han Empire, which was all-but-destroyed by the greed of Dong Zhuo. It's an awesome series man, seriously worth a watch if you can put up with reading english subtitles!

@@vulgrim909 Cao Cao was ruthless and loyal to nobody. Not friends, not family and not the emperor just his own ambition. I get that he was trying to uplift the commoners but he went about it in a villainous way. It's no wonder people compare him to the Demon Oda Nobunaga from Japan.

According to history, Cao Cao is about 5-3. Compare to Liu Bei 5-8. Zhuge Liang 6-1. He was ashamed of his appearance and raised from eunuchs family, yet he was a great figure in the time of the three kingdoms. He was not only a genius in military and politic, but also very talented in literature and even music. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms really doesn't do him justice.
