It seems odd that the car on the showroom floor doesn't have a radio in it. I thought they always wanted to show the cars with all the optional equipment to make the buyer want those items.

These are film studios I believe... and they were filmed as early as they could before the car was even out to the public. Typically the have the prior years production date... for example this 55 film was produced in 54. Actually notice at the end, the film was made in August 54...

@@autochronicles8667 And, I suppose in 1954 a radio was just a radio, and not a selling point.

I'm midway through restoring a 55, though mine is the old reliable I6 manual Plaza. Those Flathead 6's will chug to the end of time and then some, mine gives me very little trouble, even having sat in a field for 30+ years, definitely the best part.

11:29 At age 20, I was gifted a classic 55 Plymouth Belvedere by an old gentleman next door neighbor after he had a stroke. I had no idea then that you could open the trunk that way if you left it unlocked. 17:47 I hated that Powerflite Selector. Looked like it could easily penetrate a little kid's eye socket in case of a collision and kill him if he was riding in the center of the bench seat.

Looks like it is ideally placed for knocking it out of gear, or into gear, not to mention it just looks flimsy.

I like a good sales pitch probably more than most, but that guy is shoveling with both hands.

its a car salesman, and they didn't have anything really to go on in 55 Mopar's... but what he said was basically true.... he had to dig deep though.

Why did the salesman show the engine compartment? Explain about the engine, maintanence etc?

Personally I would be running out of that show room and tell that slick talking salesmen I am going buy a VW BUG, the car of the future. I would stick my wife in the back seat with a window scraper and tell her to get busy in the winter keeping the windows clear, if you scrape fast enough you wont notice there is no heat (shut up and keep scraping martha) 40MPG, tires that last 30,000 miles. PLYMOUTH ....bah humbug, VW ALL THE WAY!
