- Hi everyone!
Welcome to another video.
In this one I'm discussing with Sean the materials we use for making wardrobes.
We talk about the main materials we use (Mdf, Veneered mdf and Birch ply). We also talk about prices, machining, finishing, plus's and negatives of all 3 materials, which is easier to make furniture with, which has more profit, and which is easier to load in the van and install, Plus more!
I also show you my samples which I use for mesauring up and talk about those too.
I hope you enjoy!

Thanks for all the videos. Your channel has been a wealth of information
Great video mate, should have given us a better look at your briefcase though😁
Thanks, there is a video on this a few months back 👍
Have you tried this renner paint every one seems to be talking about? Think it's a water based paint
I havent actually, but this paint im using is just amazing so I dont think I need to look any more :-)
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop sounds good. I think gonna try renner 760 with my graco and will let you know. Seems like loads of people are using it for kitchens as meant to be really hard-wearing and I think it's self levelling
@James-dv1df If it's 2K I can see why as 2k is near enough bullet proof, but if it's 1k its probably close the The Vernites 👍
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop apparently you have the benefit of using it as a 1k or 2k. Not sure about the ppe if using as a 2k as not sure if it contains isocyanate or not
Wisa spruce ply is nice and a reasonable price about £65 for a sheet of 18mm, a few more knots but I actually prefer the look.
I like spruce ply! And it's affordable! Birch ply prices are just ridiculous!
Great video guys, loads of information in there. I had an issue recently with oak veneered MDF that I’d used for alcove shelving. One shelf had 2 distinctly different finishes when finished with Osmo. Osmo have suggested sanding back to 150 and retreating with Osmo. Any thoughts?
Thank you, yes it's a problem we come across too often. I doubt that will make much difference. It may darken that piece a little more but that's it. 👍
@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop bugger! Guess if sanding back and refinishing doesn’t work then replacing is the only solution, a right t**t given I’ll have to buy a sheet at £80 😖!
Yep I think so. If I'm doing a big job I try and select the boards I want before I buy them . Other wise it's a pain in the ass ! Light colour oils aren't so bad, it's the dark colours that highlight the different grains.
Do you get many bowed MDF sheets. How are you making shaker doors??
Do you use a hvlp spray system for your water based paints? 👍
Great video
Thank you!
Hello I live in the North East and they charge a whopping £99 for a single sheet of 19mm thick oak veneer. Can you please tell me where you source your materials from? Many thanks for your time."
Hi, it's mainly mp morans, but there are only a few around here I think!
@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop Thank you for your response. I've checked with the provider, but they don't deliver to the Durham coutry
Nice video!
Cheers mate
So could you come to the conclusion that a cost-effective and best-looking deal would be an MDF carcase edge-faced with A-grade birtch ply with doors of matched A-grade birch ply? Ok, 3.8m across times 3.5m high, give me a price
I am first
Nice one !! 👍👍👍
Just getting our pants pulled down with these prices now!! 😡
