The nerf bars are great protectors for the chassis and also a handle to carry by.You can also add a thick piece of battery foam in the side to make up for slack on the body
I had the same problem. After my brushless upgrade I was happy with the speed bur at the price of control. I did everything you did ex cept the springs.
Thanks for posting this. I'm going to buy a slash this weekend after abstaining from RC for 30 years! I'll keep it stock. I'm looking forward to messing around with it! Cheers.
Low cog and sway bars are for clay tracks, my track is community built by volunteers and is mostly loose dirt with some clay. Has big jumps and big ruts. These would be downgrades for me, depends on your track.
I had the same problem with my slash. After I put the brushless system in I could not keep going in a straight line. I bought a SPECTRUM DX4C with the AVC CONTROL and after setting it up. I really took care of the keeping it straight and no roll overs. You have to adjust it to your style of driving. For me it works great.
I own a Traxxas something truggy, but I'm currently working on a 1/8 stadium truck by exceed RC. Binge watching upgrade videos to decide what kind of parts I want for my ride(s). Thinking about putting a 120A ESC w (2) 60c 3sLipos in series. And a 6ch receiver w/built-in gyro. Hoping Santa brings me a flysky or radio link transmitter.
To keep water out of your tires, poke 2 holes in the tire tread 180 degrees apart. This way when the tire spins the water flies out and keeps your foams dry.
Nice video and upgrades. What spur/pinion combo are you using and have you considered adding a fan to help with thermal cutout? I seem to have the same thermal issue after a bit of hard bashing.
Exactly that's why thay are supposed to be installed using rubber bushing Mounts... These parts are available using 1/10 Scale RC parts also the bar should be installed behind the rear Axle leading forward with the risers at placed in front of the rear Axle on the leading edge of the lower control arm to gain correct sensory of the upcoming preload action of the subbspention to have the greatest amount of effective energy management 😎
Just got the same set up on the same car with a 3800kv and it's wild. On 2s it's hard to keep it in a line but I slapped in a 5000mah 3s and it's just stupid. At half throttle I'm double the stock speed and anywhere before 3/4 throttle I can pull the wheels off the ground with ease. I haven't been able to top it out just yet do to not having enough room and as soon as I hit full throttle I break traction and it power slides.
I think the Traxxas slash is already 1:10 (at least mine is) but if you want to use bigger/smaller scale tires the hexagon shaped thing on the axle is not going to fit in to the tire so you need to get some extra
You have fallen into the "Slash upgrade bottomless pit". I bought one of the first Slashes sold in my area. This was when brushless motors were still an exotic upgrade and Lipos were first becoming available. The Slash was so well balanced between power, tires and suspension. Better tires, (I used my Losi Triple X truck tires, as nothing else was available then) and it improved. But once I updated the motor I headed down the same road as you. I kept my Slash competitive for several years. A LCG chassis from Extreme RC was the best upgrade to what I called my Franken Slash. Proline suspension, RPM tranny, the only thing left of my Slash was the body pins. LOL! I bought a used Associated SCT10 and stopped racing my Slash for good. That is until my track stared a Spec Slash class. As it allowed only a change of radio, battery plugs and a 2 cell Lipo I bought a new Slash as it was cheaper then putting Franken Slash back to stock. I was in love with my Slash again and loved racing in the Spec-Slash class. Of all the upgrades you can do on your Slash the LCG is the best. Have fun upgrading your Slash. It is an RC love story for many people.
Thank you for the info. I used to run some RCs years back. I was using nicds back then and run times were considerably lower. I've heard the lipos we're better but couldn't find anything specific.
zombiekiller2152 hehe since this was a long time ago now its a VXL with metal gears, big driveshafts, aluminium shock caps trenchers and many more upgrades. Now i have like 5 other cars
@@johnfamulski6925 lol i have a vxl with trenchers too its such a great bashing car. But i just got an e revo 2.0 about a week ago with 2x 3 cell batteries and pshhhhh i barley even look over at my slash now 😂
not really because the parts for repair are not readily available. The WL vehicles are more prone to breakage. I've hammered this truck for a year without any broken parts!
When you pressed down on the rear of the truck with the silver bar the right side sway bar link flexed waaaaay out while the left stayed still. That didn’t look good
Mah is runtime on the battery. Its the voltage that makes a difference in power. 5000 mah would only give you more runtime. No performance enhancment. Silly goose.
Can someone send me a link to the motor and brushless system used please im looking to make my truck go as fast as it can and maybe even pass its limit
I use a cheap GoolRC motor (burnt orange) 3500. Zeee 5200 3S battery and you will definitely exceed the cars ability. ESC by RC Electric Parts (no reverse) The stock tires at full throttle look like two donuts.
Springs are way too long. You have almost an inch of preload right from the start. The rear sway bar is useless just take it out. Front sway bar is a must you just need to move the link bars farther inboard. This will stiffen it even more atm you have it set very loose.
Late as usual .. i believe that was the first gen of slash < ? > in which case yes that sway kit *should* work on all of traxxas 2wd of that time . The mainest difference of the 2wd models was the arrangement of the arms and towers ie. The rustler and bandit are nearly identical besides their arms and the bandit having a unique hub to all others . The slash when it first came out was essentially a rustler with a new *at the time* chassis or body tray, and different suspension geometry coupled with their new short course tire

this was $189, just add battery ($20) and charger (which I had). It's one of the most affordable fun trucks. getting into racing is another story...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Hate to break it too ya, but you didnt "punish" that body worth a shit...it looks like mine did after only two times driving it....fyi recently broke part of the trainy #Driveitlikeyoustoleit
I would suggest the Traxxas ford Bronco if you are going for realism. Locked to unlocked diffs with the push of a button on the transmitter, high to low gearbox, it's a great truck. Plus the sunset one? I'm not sure if that's the name, buy black, yellow, red, and orange. Cost a pretty penny though
@modernblood I have sc10 sc5 and sc 6. The sc5 and 6 are a totally different trucks then the sc10 amd handle alot better. Maybe due to mid motorvs rear motor.. I'm not familiar with how hpi drives but I beat them every time at my local track when people do run them. Not to often though.
Ive has my two slashes for about 4 to 3 years now and I love the durability and how cheap the parts are!

Love the new upgrades, I have a Traxxas Slash Nitro and my sway bars coming soon . Your sway bars installed are very helpful 👍

You can run the slayer bar on your four by four slash

I got the same exact setup but I went with a full locking diff and MIP axles because after awhile the sidewinder will destroy those components
Nice upgrade
Great video man! I just got into RC and the slash is my first truck. This is a very informative and helpful video!
Thanks, I also added some scale treaded tires for on road and it got even better. Obviously if you are running it in the dirt, get some grippy tires
Nice video and upgrades. What spur/pinion combo are you using and have you considered adding a fan to help with thermal cutout? I seem to have the same thermal issue after a bit of hard bashing.
This is what i call a good video, thanks a ton man!
That rear sway arm should pivit in the mount. Otherwise it won't transfer load.

You have a sway bar set for the standard chassis. You are running the LCG. That's why it did not work right.
ohhhh, thanks!!
What's the name of that spring kit you have, and where did you get it from?

to get water out of your tiers is to poke hols in them about three in each
In stock trim how long will a 5000mha 2s battery last with the brushed motor?
45-60 min
Cyrus depends if ur doing long heavy throttle runs on the street or blurping around a short track. 45 mins would be a fair assumption
Thank you for the info. I used to run some RCs years back. I was using nicds back then and run times were considerably lower. I've heard the lipos we're better but couldn't find anything specific.
easy 40-60mins
Why didn't you upgrade with savox digital coreless servo. They dont last long
Do you think the sway bars really make a difference? anyone
James Harvey I race my 2wd Slash and never run sway bars I get 29 and 30 second lap times
Hey I put a hpi 4500 motor in mine bruchless and a water proffreciver also i have a few tricks that's will help with the sway without using the bars
For a basher I would keep the hcg chassis and use the sway bars
J. Hyland Isn’t it better to have a controllable car while bashing tho?
Nice garage band music LOL I USE IT SO MUCH
Does that chassis also fit the new lipo batteries. Wondering if that upgrade to my old traxxas would allow me to fit the newer taller batteries.
Yes I used 5000mah 2s hard packs
Do you have a video of the motor upgrade?
I don’t
I have a slash 2wd race edition and I barley hit 30 so I’m starting to buy a 4wd or tweak mine super hard. Tnx for the vid

Run a higher pinion between 20 and 30 and a smaller spur gear like 75 and shell be ripppin

what kv are you using?
POLISH BEAR he is runing it on brushed. Kv is at brushless motors
Sorry for the wrong answer. He run on brushless. My bad
Should a done the blue shocks tho
Sway bar kit is all u meeded

sean railton its whatever is stock for the 2wd
Thanks. I am going to upgrade my stock brushed slash, i have a bunch of hop ups ordered. Enjoy your truck
Jeez 5700 that’s insane I bought a slash 2wd with a castle 1406 4600kv motor and vxl esc
Where is the list of parts you used?
My motor burned out today 😭
That's why you get a brushless system
What’s top speed
With brushless setup is it still waterproof
3d Philocaphy it depends on the system. Usually in the description of the motor it will say.
Ali Alsayyed thanks i noticed that wen i looked it up myself thanks
Does it really increase the speed
The mods? No, the handling, yes
what was the name of you springs i need some for mine
In the beginning of the vid he shows all the work
Please reply I want to know what the song is called
Did you change pinion gear with the new motor?
Probably
Wats that brushless system kv
do u believe if if i spend a lot less like $70 for some wltoys 1/12 scale short course truck then I will still have same fun level ? :D
not really because the parts for repair are not readily available. The WL vehicles are more prone to breakage. I've hammered this truck for a year without any broken parts!
Yea they are cheap i was thinking about geting one but it is better just to save up and it will pay off in the long run

What size motor u got
how fast is it on 2s and 3s
What cell lipo are you rung that on it's very slow for what it is
2s
Can you get on road or drift tires for indoor driving for the Slash? I'm new to the rc world so im not all that sure.
id, love to try!
PrivatePyle 762 yes
great video I just received this as a gift. And this video is great
What's the song
Yuba city?
I see you have that 5000mAh battery. I put that in my slash and immediately put the 3000mAh back in. I wasn't ready at the time.

All you needed was some good tires man. Those are Tiny, of course it's going to go out of control
I ended up putting some nice road tires on it and it was amazing!
your suspension is way to stiff, its ok for flat suffice but if you take it on dirt with whoops and jumps, its not going to do so well
