I'm a natural red head who used to dye my hair all sorts of coppers and reds because I do not like my natural tone. Lightning your roots will be fine. Whole head of lightened hair the copper dyes will likely fade FAST and turn mucky. In my opinion coppers look better on darker blonde hair and light brunettes because it creates a more natural undertone. Just my opinion, some do not like the more natural look. Hope this helps!
