I like how you know the Mexican dude is Mexican cause he says a word in Spanish every 2 minutes
“Amigo! Dios mio?! Vamos! Pendejo! Por favor? Pinche guey!” Just use those together or randomly at the beginning and/or end of sentences and you’ll be an honorary Raza !
Lmao true
Half a million Mexican Americans served in world war 2 unfortunately racist white people don’t give them the credit they deserve
About as historically accurate as a Transformers movie but a cool level for sure
who cares, USA won
If you want history read a book
@@inthedarkwoods2022 I agree. Just hilarious mission. It’s like Michael Bay directed WW2
Completely agree it’s like the battlefield F-18 Launch mission. The plane was already started and on the catapult 😂
As realistic as star wars epic
This guy won the war single handed, two carriers and about 20 aircraft. 😂
Actually, when it comes to the 2 carriers, that did happen. Capt. Vernon L Micheel successfully landed bombs on 2 Japanese Carriers, which led to their eventual sinking.
@@pedroportillo1585not in single pass, IIRC. He made more than one flight on the first day.
@@MoreFunization True, but I can let that pass for the sake of pacing. It’s still historically true that one person bombed 2 Japanese carriers in one day.
Wasn't it Dick best that scored 2 carriers?
@@pedroportillo1585 Im a little confused because supposedly Vernon struck the Akagi, but when reading up on the battle of midway it was only Richard Best and his two wingmen that attacked the Akagi, only Best's bomb hit which eventually sank the akagi. During the second attack of the day on the remaining Hiryu he would again hit resulting in him being responsible for sinking 2 carriers in a single day.
Yeah, very historically accurate especially the Air Force patch on his sleeve on a Navy carrier.
About 3-4 years before the air force was even created lol
For those who don't know.......Navy Pilots participating in Midway were told there was a good chance that they wouldn't make it back. It just makes what they did all the even more heroic
Exactly but too bad they gave us this slop instead
@@patrickmontez6843limited budget and the technical limitations of the COD code itself. A realistic Midway naval air combat simulation would be very complex and probably beyond the scope of what COD producers were trying to do.
right. so why EA decided to give them awful dialogue like they were about to go on a joyride, idk.
@@patrickcannady2066 then they shouldnt have added a air combat mission. or they could have done what they did in earlier games which is to make you the gunner position. theres already a lot wrong with the game to begin with but idk. could of been a cool opportunity to give a little nod to Bruno Gaido
hard to not be heroic when you have no choice. You're fighting or you're going to jail. Plus it's easier to be heroic when you believe in the country you're fighting for. Unlike the degenerate country that is the USA today.

First, the pilots didn’t know exactly where the carriers were until Best, the squadron commander of the SBDs and Wade McClusky spotted the Japanese destroyer Arashi (Kagero class) speeding north which eventually led to the first strike where Enterprise bombers including Best crippled the Akagi and Kaga while Yorktowns bombers decimated the Soryu before sending a final wave after the Hiryu.
SBDs did not engage in dogfights but did provide CAP support especially by Yorktown with pilots like swede vejtasa (who will be transferred to the Enterprise after Yorktown getting hit) being more of a desperate measure than actual protocol.
The carriers didn’t blow up instantaneously but after I believe a few hours since the damage control was attempted and the Hiryu was scuttled after failure to control the fire.
*playing pac-man in an arcade* hmm this is inaccurate, in reality a pac-man would not die from being touched by a ghost
Más de lo mismo ,
I have heard that perhaps one carrier did explode almost instantly due to a direct hit to the munitions depot, although I could be mistaken.
@noelivester7340 They were mid ammo switch. The admiral had previously ordered they arm the planes with torpedo's but then second guessed himself and said switch ammo. This process takes hours and as a result the carrier was a sitting duck when the American fleet found them. The explosion was even more intense because so much ordinance was on the deck when the dive bombers hit them.
Best is a real man?! I thought he's a fictional character from the movie "The Midway"
5:38 ah yes, the 'ol straight & level SBD dogfight.
the flight mechanics look like an arcade game just with better graphics lol
Never could get through flying a plane part, that's when my granddaughter took control and won.
That's wholesome. 🥰
Nice
Despite the animation and graphics being excellent, this fight is one of the most historically ridiculous things I have ever watched. The Dautless was too slow to dogfight with A6Ms especially when it comes to shoot down that many planes in one sortie! It could happen that he fired with his machine guns forward, to straffer rather but it was rather the gunner in the rear who shot down other planes. The role of this aircraft was dive bombing, and it was designed for this (notably with the presence of holey dive flaps on the wings), and dive bombing involves strong wings. And the idea of engaging in a dogfight within range of the ships' guns is pure madness! I can assure you that for any pilot, once his bombs are dropped, his first idea is to immediately deviate from the DCA zone. (yes yes even with "American" genes)...😜
and with bombs still attached... totally ridiculous.
Cool, you know stuff about planes and history. Here is your bit of attention from me. I hope you enjoy it cool dude.
the dauntless could out turn the a6m, a dauntless once shot down 2 of them and fought off multiple zeros.

@@Pearloryxinfinitely more accurate than this
Despite the over the top cgi it's was definitely an enjoyable movie.
I love the fact that they are flying at high altitude with the cockpit open but when they go for a bombing run they close the cockpit. Its the complete opposite because they wanted an option to bail out if they misjudged the dive and pulled out to late.
It must be tricky to make a historical shooters these days, when people know SO much about the historical context. Given that this is CoD and the player is basically hand-held, it would be relatively easy to create a historically accurate level where the player is guided through the real events. Like... you're flying a Wild Cat and you have to use the speed advantage to shoot down a Zero. And if you try to dog fight you'll soon be outmatched.
They could've at least made the plane have limited ammo somewhere in the thousands xd
Did you know that they sold this game as a "Totally realistic and historically accurate game?" That's why so many people throw shit at it, in addition to being a terrible campaign with terrible dialogue.
@@visibleDude7 Didn’t know that. That’s hilarious.
I love that planes, hell even flying, wasnt even 50 years old yet and we as humans wasted no time using them to fight. WW1 introduced a lotta cool shit but damn WW2 made it doubly effective

Yeah but nowhere near like this
is that a dauntless... on dogfighting with zeros on full bomb load? never mind, its call of duty. just enjoy it
Yea, the Warthunder player in me was screaming at those parts. Found it funny how the backseater tells you to protect the bombers. Like dude, we're a bomber with a full load. Ain't no way we are catching any zeroes much less TURNING with them. Yea, I get it's a game. However, the devs could do better instead of being lazy. Just have the player swap between actual fighters that cover the bombers and then later in the mission swaps to the bombers to do the actual dive bombing. Plus, after they finished with their runs, there was no way in hell those bombers would stick around to a dogfight. Much less dogfighting while being in the middle of the Japanese fleet. They're bombers for crying out loud!
@@Killbird-gn5kf The Dauntless is no slouch in a dogfight. With enough energy you can surprise people.
@@dixievfd55 Yea, with enough energy going into a dive with the element of surprise. After that you cannot be in the fight with a zero. You lose 9/10 times in a sustained fight. Have you seen the turn radius for a fully loaded dauntless vs a zero? Also, it's just the insanity of having a BOMBER be used to protect another BOMBER from FIGHTERS.
3:45 those crew at the starboard side just lost their heads.
Ah, remember the time when grandpa single handily destroyed 2 Aircraft Carriers and shot down 50 Zeros, with 3 Zeros flying straight into his face but it went through, while getting shot a million times on the face with Anti-aircraft bullet rounds and managing to save 20 of his own pilots & maintaining a cheeky sense of humour --- all in just 1 sortie? Ah what good ol days
Sbd dauntless taking on zeros is pure realism
They were actually responsible for a couple of air to air kills. Though that was when they finished their bombing runs.
SBDs were used as CAP during the Battle of the Coral Sea, with one pilot shooting down 3 Japanese aircraft in one 15 minute dogfight
@@nickrails Yeah but in the scene they are used as fighters and bragging about more zero kills. If they were flying f4fs or even buffalos itll be more realistic

Looks just like that mission from battlefield 3 with Hawkins
Yey a cutscene
Honestly everything up until they take off is pretty detailed and cool historically speaking.
Did the WWII carriers have the catapults? I thought that was implemented onto carrier well after WWII. That was the first inaccuracy that stood out to me.
I mean, Vanguard as a whole is like History channel made videogame. There are better games if you aim for historicall accuracy, or atleast as best as videogame can get.
@@nicksignore8301 Yes, but it was very late in the war. At midway, none of the planes on any of the American carriers had any of the proper gear to use the catapults.
In what world a dive bomber keeps up a Zero when American fighter pilots were advised AGAINST putting the Wildcat in an agility duel with a Zero?
For anyone thats been on that ship in san diego the opening 2 minutes felt very immersive
I assume you mean USS Midway, because the carriers that were present during the battle have all long since either been sunk or scrapped. Which is a damn shame... USS Enterprise should've been a museum ship, damn it.
I was on that ship lol.
None of the US carriers in the mission still exist.
The Hornet you may be referring to is an Essex class ship, not the Yorktown original that was in the mission.
@@HarrisonGoldfarbi didnt say it was that ship just reminded me of that tourist attraction
I find it hilarious how people call this flying sequence dull when years ago in battlefield 3 a game that touted itself as being the pinnacle of FPS visual realism featured a fighter aircraft sequence where you do all the pre flight checks only to not actually be able to control the plane.
@MonarchEXE How do targets that are set to strict rotating paths without deviation more threatening? The Fighters in that sequence in BF3 follow a repeating path, they are meant to fly directly into your field of view to be destroyed by either the fixed gun or guided missiles.
Its a rail shooting sequence. No strategy required.
They dont have AI beyond firing the occasional missile you have to flare at. If you choose to not destroy them and just keep flaring with the infinite supply of countermeasures they will endlessly repeat tailing and being directly in front of the plane until you decide to destroy them. It is basically a quick time event.
You can receive damage in this Vanguard sequence because the planes can freely engage you at any angle, as can you. Its not a flight simulator by any means, but it is a gameplay section despite its strict linear set of events.
@MonarchEXE If you are being randomly taken out by anti air fire, or Zero fighters that's a fairly accurate portrayal of how perilous it is for pilots during WW2 lol. It also means you can fail.
Admitting that the BF3 sequence is effective only once is not an argument for it's quality. You are basically saying it has almost zero replay value.
Flashbacks in a story are not bad things lol, in Vanguard the flashback is meant to develop a character's personality like almost all the other missions in the game. It's a Ensemble cast.
In BF3 it is a random mission meant to showcase frostbite's engine technology at the time. It's impressive to look at sure, but it is only impressive once and loses all novelty... If you like the spectacle on it's own that's fine, in Vanguard it is also very much Spectacle. But at least it is still just a bit more interactive and can be replayed without losing it's small gameplay appeal.
@MonarchEXE That's kind of realistic though. Japanese Zeros weren't built well and went down pretty easily
Well, I wouldn’t say Dull but Dog shit. They cant even get the combat sequences right. Even Model of Japanese Carriers are very wrong it’s not hard to find their accurate models. And what is 8 Nagato Class Battleships doing here? Nagato Class Battleships only have 2 Nagato and Mutsu. Japanese AA is too accurate and why the Main Character have to open the cockpit when Diving Bombing into the whore of AAs somehow didn’t recived any shrapnel from the AAs at all. I know that Japanese AA is not effective but it will definitely killed a person with its shrapnels.
@@tsuaririndoku You ever watch Paton? Inglorious bastards, saving Private Ryan… Hell almost every piece of WW2 media both in film and video games… Whatever their level of commitment to realism, fact or fiction they all suffer from inaccuracy… It’s impossible to get everything 100% right and sometimes getting things completely right is not always the goal.

There is the things about the ranking system in this game. First of all arthur kingsley was just a sergeant in operation overload in 1944 which makes him less senior than some of the TF Vanguard. Hate to break it to ya but Call of duty has never been a simulator, you performed bonkers feats in Medal of honor such as stealing secret Nazi jets single handily, or parachuting onto Nazi mega structures, taking on gas masked MG42 gunners who are not even in fixed positions.
You do realise that you, the enemy and your allies collectively throw more grenades than we’re ever manufactured during WW2… There are tank and air based missions in World at war that take place at the wrong dates, or the vehicles themselves don’t behave how they should.

Point du hoc is a prime example matching with the real location unlike vanguard which completely fucks up the battery mission.
Other smaller details like the M3 Lee appearing only in the african missions and several other details make it even better.
In regards to unrealistic vehicle performance at least they could do it in a way that wasn't obvious, there some just flat out and stupid mistakes that they put in this game, such as a fully automatic flak88, german weapons in the Pacific and the army airforce sergeant in the briefing room to name a few.
@@loyalpiper Movies like Patton had to use Tanks used during the Vietnam war due to not having access to any Sherman's or Panzers at the time. There are insignia mistakes a plenty in that film too, but it is still a good movie.
Those are aesthetic goofs, things you cant really avoid when making a period piece be that serious or not. Almost every single WW2 film or game has them to one degree or another. But we still watch and enjoy em regardless... It is impossible to achieve 100% accuracy be that on the visual or historical level. You can try to make it some of the way there, but not all media has the same commitment. I can live with a few background elements acting bizarrely, since you are not exactly supposed to be looking at them all that long. They are not the main focus.
Vanguard is a work of Historical fiction with an ensemble cast that takes place during a few real life events it alters in a way to allow for it's own over the top narrative to play out. Much the same way as Inglorious Bastards did which Vanguard draws heavy inspiration from, it plays loose with the truth to allow for an original plot and characters to exist within it. Such as blowing off Hitler's face with an MP40 along with his entire leadership and command structure inside a burning theatre. It is a bonkers, and impossible assassination of one of Histories greatest monsters with a satirical edge... You go in with the expectation that it is deliberately over the top and never happened.
Much the same way you also have to suspend your disbelief when one man sent alone in Sniper Elite can take out several high ranking German officers and at the end of 2 proclaim himself "The first soldier of the Cold War!" It ridiculous and would never happen in that way.
Separating real life events from fiction is important if you ever want to enjoy a work of historical fiction. But if however a game was always trying to be historically accurate to people, events and their stories that actually did happen but fails in doing so I can see the need for criticism. But most of this cast never existed...
Ever noticed that he never closed the cockpit?
