Anthony's confusion about what King is is my favorite part of the video
This is actually KING II as the original KING passed away.. KING’s appearance is inspired by Japanese Wrestler TIGER MASK and his backstory by Mexican Wrestler FRAY TORMENTA who was a Catholic Priest that became a Masked Wrestler to support his Orphanage.. In TEKKEN lore KING II was an orphan and trained under the original KING untill his death.. A Truly inspirational character backstory.. Also great review my friend.. Warmest Regards 👍🏼

Exactly, I hate how people in the comments are saying "The mask is mystical" no it's not. It's just Luchadors put a character since in Mexican culture being a wrestler is viewed as being the most highly respected thing to be. Plus when being a Luchador you're viewed as a Superhero or villain depending how you choose yourself to be and you're not allowed to remove your mask in public since it's highly disrespectful

@@glennjthompson332 Luchadors don't ever take off their mask it's disrespectful in Mexican culture. Over there it's viewed as them basically being like Superheroes and villains since they have a whole new identity of when they're in mask. They only remove it when they're not in public basically at home away from people.

@@BrandonNielsen87 it's not a cheetah mask it's a jaguar mask he's wore it since Tekken 1 but Tekken 3 King through is the original King 's Successor so really he's King II but it's never said in game since it's a Mexican wrestler thing to keep the illusion it's the same king since he wears the same mask as the first
Nope, King is *NOT* just a guy wearing a mask. In fact he isn't even human whilst wearing it. Tekken 6 made clear in the scenario campaign mode, after he is scanned by alisa during the king boss fight, that King cannot be identified as a human presence. In fact During the Armor king Boss fight in the graveyard level, Alisa scans the area and detects a ghostly presence. It's later revealed that the ghostly presence is Armor king himself and he is referred to as an "IT". Other characters will say different things about for example. Yoshimitsu refers to Armor king as a "creature". From Alisa's statements alone it's implied that Armor King is even less human than King. The Mask's the King's wear contains some kind of ancient spirit that transforms them which explains why they are able to mimic the sound of a jaguar and also grow a tail. Yes the tail is real and NOT just attached lol.
King is just a masked luchador. The Cat Noises and tail is all aesthetics
Why do people think King is just a guy in the mask. Tekken has made it clear that the mask has magical power and when he wears it he is no longer a human. You can see this in Tekken 6 sceneario campaign (king and marduk boss fight). Alisa performs a scan on every opponent you face and she states clearly that king "cannot be identified as a human" and when you encounter Armor king in the graveyard alisa states that his presence is similar to a ghost and he "cannot be considered human". He's also referred to as an "It" by Yoshimitsu.
@@FuriaRoyale No it is. Not everything in Tekken is mystical also Tekken 6 scenario is non-canon for other characters if you play with them. Only it's canon with Lars and Alisa. Actual canon King II was an orphan raised by the original King who trained under him and held the same "fight for justice" belief since he wants to fight to protect those less fortunate for then him even wishes to build an orphanage for children who have no homes.
Lastly, the growls and stuff is just him being in character since if you know labradors are vastly different then American wrestlers. Over there in Mexico it's viewed as them being like Superhero and villains and they never take off their mask in public only when they're outside of the public eye that way they don't reveal their identity even have their private life remain private.
@@davidmarrero9608 Wrong. Scenario Campaign still conforms to the lore of Tekken although the story arc is changed depending on the character you pick. Harada has also addressed the issue of the kiing's mask too. This has already been clear. King and Armor king's masks both contain mystical powers. This isn't an opinion it's fact

T6 campaign mode clearly states that king cannot be classified as a human and Armor king registered on alisa's scanners as a spiritual presence. They are not humans whilst wearing their masks. Please just play T6 campaign mode and stop with the opinions. I'm telling you a fact here.
I really love the figure I feel like the only thing they missed out on was a pair of thumbs up/down hands for one of his best victory pose. If you make a batch of that pair of hands I'm so in and I'm positive a lot more people will want a pair as well. Personal favorite characters are sergei and fury Id say lars too but it would count as related to jin.

He's a human wrestler that wears a realistic mask and makes realistic big cat sounds. My favorite tekken character is King because he's a pro wrestler

My favorite character has gotta be bob, love his acrobatic kicks and his quickness for the size of him. King is pretty sick but I can never get his different grapples off on my friends. A yoshimitsu figure would be really awesome, especially the Tekken 7 tentacle head look

There are a couple debates on who inspired King, my favorite one is him being based on a savior from Cinco De Mayo, a man masked in a mask similar to King’s appeared whenever attacked individuals needed help, he would be the only one to kill the attackers without trying and he is still talked about, he is indeed a human wrestler and the lore of TEKKEN explains it, amazing figure tho
Yoshimitsu was hands down my favorite tekken character back in the day, closely followed by Eddie Gordo
King and Bryan Fury are my two best Tekken characters (not counting guest characters from other games). And Darwin looks like One-Punch Man with King's cape on! 😄 Gonna have King squaring off against Sagat once I pick him up. Great review as always, thanks! 👍
Yeah he's a human wearing a mask. He's also got a tail and inexplicably speaks in jaguar noises that everybody understands and nobody questions. And his mentor is the same deal but with a black jaguar mask. All that on top of a universe with cyborgs, ninjas, cyborg-ninjas, fighting bears, and boxing kangaroos competing with demon gods in hand-to-hand. Think of Tekken like One Piece because they're equally absurd and surreal, which is a large part of the appeal.
Incredibly happy to see that this turned out well even by Storm's standards. Gives me hope that the variant with darker trunks will be great too.

LAW! He is Tekken for me! Really hoping Storm announce him soon since they announced his good friend Paul. They can use the body and some clothing parts of Liu Kang :-). If Law is released I will buy him, Paul, hopefully Hwoarang, Lei and Jin or King/Nina. But it depends on Law
King hands down my favorite character Steve Fox stands right there next to him Bryan Fury honorable mention

Fun fact, he's a masked wrestler actually based off Tiger Mask, an anime/manga from the late 60's/early 70's. So he's a human. The same Tiger Mask figure you actually reviewed a few years ago. Although that version is from the 2016 continuation of the series. Great review btw man! Love me some King. Also it's funny because King wears a jaguar mask not a tiger one lol.
King's the video game version of both Fray Tormenta and Nacho. A priest who's also a luchador helping the orphanage

My favourite Tekken character is probably Nina Williams; she’s not a Chun Li, but is the most iconic female Tekken character to me. Shoutout to Christie Monteiro and, of course, the Panda as well. I wish Storm would make more figures of the female characters from these IPs.

When I played Tekken, I like to use Law. I could just mash buttons and pretend to know what I was doing. I got better over time and started using Paul.

I had the EXACT same defect on one of the alternate heads of my Iori Yagami Storm Collectibles figure! It was some weird splotch of silver paint.
My top three favorite tekken characters are hwoarang, Steve fox, and Bryan fury. Hope storm makes them.

What's the reason Storm Collectibles figures are so expensive? Is the size and slightly better articulation enough to warrant a 2-5x price increase? $40-60 I could understand for this figure, but $115?

Got my King after watching the review - sadly my chest is waaay to huge!! It balloons over the torso. Very dissapointed. And the joints were suprisingly loose as well but not floppy. Purchased from BBTS but not sure if theyll allow an exchnge
If I can’t pick Jin then Kunimitsu and King is probably 3rd favorite this figure made me start learning King in T7

I haven’t played much Tekken, but when I do, it’s Law and maybe Yoshimitsu. Is the seam on the butt like what you’d see in the front of a pair of boxers where there’s an open fold? Or is it a closed stitched seam AROUND the tail? The latter would make sense, stitchwise. If it looks like an open fold... yea, that is weird if King is in fact supposed to be human. Some kinda weird plastic surgery there...
