I suggested a few different ideas to the client whom wore very great full.
Use your knowledge ,education and experience when tendering don’t be scared to suggest different ideas 👌

Another quality vid geez, I always pick up a thing or two when watching you! Have a successful week at work🔨
I'm not a brickie but I still enjoy watching your vids. Good to see a proper bloke doing his work 👍
Tidy stuff there fella. Like the opening up idea. Class act as always
My neck of the woods, only down the road!! Another great video dean!
Hahaaa 'Guilty' is a great song, and you sing it so beautifully mate :)
Frog up to get up,frog down to get down.
Nice job fella #get em down👍🍻
No messing about with TTB another top job and great company .Attention extension builders ! We all know timber is going crazy at the moment but yesterday I spotted a sheet of Kingspan in Wickes £100 a sheet 8x4x4’’ Keep them vids coming your a top bloke 👌🎥🧱🥇
Good to see Phil Mitchell still keeping busy 😂. Quality video bud
Found your videos just recently.I really like them brother. I love how you love your job so much it really shows
Great job i know who id be calling if I need work done.
Lovely job buddy! It's sometimes hard following other people's work on jobs like this..but like you said your governed by what's there..did a job few weeks ago and had a nightmare trying to keep gauge with the existing brickwork, before I decided to just ignore it and do what I thought was best and what looked best.
Keep up the good videos buddy always a nice watch..you seem like a really genuine geeza 🍻💪
Tnks mate ...if it was easy every1 would be doing mate .
We get challenged everyday and never recognised for it
Hope your well
Lovely job and video 👍 it would be nice to see the finished result of the whole conversion.
the old saying.if it’s rough enough it’s good enough.usually used by chancers or grunter merchants. lovely job.
Love the singing mate!! Think we need more of barry gibb!! Can ya hit the high notes??? 🤔 fantastic videos, keep em coming mate, love them!!! 👍👍
brickie watching from Dublin
Brilliant singing mate. I will sign u up for Bee gees tribute 😄🤣😍
😂😂
Lad says OK like forest gump lol
Very good job
Nice job that.
Damp inside,belt and braces,as you say does not hurt,have a good week👍
Good stuff bruv. My new favourite brick work channel
how did you tie in that blockwork to the stud walling ?
Did building control not want a new concrete foundation put in? Every garage conversion we do we have to put a new foundation in or concrete lintels spanning the entire opening brick to brick.
I thought the inner skin better a split block u value !!! or Atleast bed the bricks frog down///better for the chippy to get a fixing in for the cill board 👍
Great job Dean
Just a positive to help water suppression on that disc cutting all positive vibes
Do you use a WHS trowel ?
Just good enough is not good enough that’s what I was brought up with 😎 loving the vids and reading all the keyboard warriors comments on here 😂😂
The saying I find myself saying the most is it’s easy to criticise
Another top video mate. One bone with this though, you really should wear a pair of goggles when using a disc cutter. Had a cutting blade shatter on me ,blade shattered in every direction, very lucky I wasn't injured . Always wear them now I took it as good warning. Keep the great vids coming.👍
Your attention to detail and no prep time sets you apart. Things go wrong you fix it and keep movin. Nice job bud good video
Hope your next job is better
All of us men make mistakes but hold our head high and we rise again
What did he do?
As you said some times you have to lay frog down. I do it exactly the same . You have to work with what got
Why would you have to lay frog down? Can't you lay a solid brick tight? We lay frog down in USA but there are no brick made with frogs as deep as the UK.
Explains the frog down mate cheers bud
Its To hard to put less muck down
Another top video !!! You can tell this man has good morals you can learn a lot from him, would happily buy this man a beer if we ever crossed paths
Tnks mate 👌
What trowel do you youse am needing a new one
Traditional bricklayer you say !!!!!
Just curious why do you always scrape off your muck to the floor? Surely just as easy and a lot neater to scrape up and pick it up
It’s a bad habit that most bricklayers have but it’s quicker to just throw it on the floor when you scrape your snots you might not be immediately by a spot board. Less time returning to the spot board makes for a quicker bricklayer
Watching you joint up there.. them little pointy arrows in the top and bottom of the perps merging into the beds are by far the most annoying thing I find about donging up. Almost impossible to get out too 😢
Lol that mask against that saw dust
👍
Hi can convert traditional garage to face brick garage
Some good ideas but would have increaed the build budget by thousands may be working to a budget
'Twice'. Love it. 🤣🤣
What trowel is that? Size?
I’m a bricky myself and I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again you’re by far the best bricklayer on UA-cam by a long shot. None of this house bashing bollocks. All good work and you take pride in what you do. Not many brickys do in this day and age & trowels like you are very hard to come across
Tnks for taking the time out and writing that mate means a lot
Seems these days every1 is in a rush and forget the finest things in life
Few good words go along way 🧱👌
Be nice to know some of the bricklaying terms like frogger etc
Your a good guy mate. You need thick skin to read some comments. Soma silly judgemental. Some have a point. As I've learned more watching and listening to all . 46 years in the trade. God bless you and family diamond geezer
Tnks my man ...like to keep it honest ..real life
Hope your well
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 Yes buddy. Do some surveying etc now. But love me brickwork. Good to watch the real life bro. Things I've seen good tips. I think I wish I would have known years ago. As we are human , and not perfect. But we can strive to always look at better ways. U agree ? God bless u and family.. I'll buy you a beer if u ever in the pool (liver)😄
Who was u grovelling to at the start mate? :-)
Begging not my business pal ..but being honest is 👌
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 good man 👍
Good work working with out a radio
How was the hot chocolate?
Lovely the hot choc ..no radio was a sleeping tablet 😂😂
Nice job
Is there a reason you went frog down?just wondering i always thought it went up?
Grinding mate ...I do say in the video Existing tight
Frog up to get up.. frog down to get down 👍
You can still grind down frog up .
@@leer798 I know you can it’s just much easier to get down with frog down especially with those bricks!
Frog down not good or traditional?
u r fucking good
What do you reckon to italy's goalie?
One of the best in the world mate
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 👍👍
It's going to Rome 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Great muck mast be a very experienced hoddy👍🏾😩📲🇬🇧👊🏼✅✅
Love your work mate , but if you joint your bricks and blocks properly while laying them , then you wouldn’t have to refill them with cement and the jointer .
Why is there no vertical DPC cut into each sides of the brickwork m8 ?
Personally, I would have cut the damp in to stop any water penetrating into the inner block work skin.
Agreed should have had a vertical dpc cut in both sides defo 👍
It’s a 9inch pier plus don’t think you will get any going through that
not a requirement on alterations or extensions, but I know what you mean. No need for thermal breaks etc....
There no need for damp in there at all , the pier is not touching the block work inside and if it is you would put the damp on the back of the pier if it touches the blockwork .
@@scottnever8732 thermal break is nothing to do with vertical dpc a thermal break is if you was putting an extension on the back of a house and you left the external door in place....hence the saying there is a thermal break between the 2 ...and its the absolute opposite its being made habitable all alterations and extension that are habitable should be done with building regs and checked i do it everyday of my life and have done for nearly 25 years as a bricklayer by trade and a builder. I've done more extensions garage conversions and alteration work than I've had hot dinners....Dean is a top bricklayer and a good builder but he does need a vertical dpc in them piers to be proper
Why did you lay frog down?
Out of all the bricky videos on here this is the best by a mile, one of the few that ain’t throwing them down and actually care about the work. Great content
You obvz done the dirty on the mrs then
Tip, work from top down when you tooth in, less chance of cracking the brick underneath!
In the least patronising way possible😂
Whs brades 11 inch then philly on block work
Definitely the most humble and genuine bricklaying channel
Brickie or architect?
Pulses racing darling
Laying your first course on kerb stones 🤔.
Dig down new footing in vertical dpc between your outside skin and inside floor slab now that's traditional
Who sings that song mate?
Guilty ... Baba Streisand and Barry Gibbs 👌
The video already started
Nice job pal ! But frog down ?? You sure geez
Not ideal that be old fruit
Every Bricky has laid frog down in their career sometimes you have to it's not a biggie is it
@@bobf1290 no biggie but only guaranteed till the check is clear!! But before the frost comes lol
@@JAVXABLE never known a frog down brick to be affected by frost 🐸🤷🏻♂️
@@bobf1290 fair one but they tend to blow over in high winds as theres no muck in them, seen 2 in the last couple of months that have gone over that are frog down
@@JAVXABLE they probably would blow over in high winds if there is no muck in them 😭
Should have been on its own foundation
Turn mixer off
Did one of these last week my self you should of dug out to the concrete that split looks shit bad practice
Done a weather struck joint at the bottom but didn’t show it in the finish 🤦♂️
Base is fine as it’s corrbolled ova
Really ! You would dig it all out not to have a split 🙄
@@neilsmart78 u no wot ur on about then.... do u think anyones gona look down at a split?
All changed now mate inspectors are happy with a split or railway track in Bottom course ..come on lad thought every1 knew that 👌
Sound up
Have u ever been knocked out before ? I don't mean that as a dig , I just noticed your amature boxing record and was just curious. I don't mean tko'd I mean knocked out cold. Just curoius, some guys ain't never.
You should have drilled out the too thing mate. That is not right the way you did it
Alway drill out tooting. No dust. Also makes sure both top and bottom joints are clean
What happened
That toothing is horrendous pal, done many of these jobs over the years and never done it like that, plus pushing your ties into the bed…a frog down bed at that!!
Then you are now educated for when u do come across a job like this 👌
The existing beds are really tight ..u can see they frogged so to help get down I had to frog u would know that not a problem ..no ??
Toothing is knowledge the mortar was harder than the bricks again if u knew u would know the bricks would fracture as I say in the video 👌
Its shite toothing and you know it!!! It’s the cutting that let you down, you can’t get the full brick in so you basically went and tied the horse up and a make c…t of it…….have a nice day now.
We're all looking forward to your brick laying channel Bob. No doubt a fountain of knowledge.
@@Bobthebrickie I’ve held back
What a melt u are ...what u think m blagging u toffee
Come on bob show me ur work u slip tie
Deleted comments I see.
God it pisses me off how fast a proper brickie can work
He's no charlie collision
Good then
Thank God 🙏
Just let the man put his tunes on man, fuck me the singing is killing me. "Little by little we meet in the middle" stuck in me fucking ed
Geezer is r deano x
yeah no music....just the sound of a man with his trowel
Tip joints spur marks on the brick work work it out
enjoy your vids as you do some quality interesting work .. BTW a man of your experience should set a much better example, your mask is completely useless and that dust will wreck your health and ffs get some ear muffs on, i am forever preaching to my young guys about these things. masks and muffs are not really an inconvenience to wear but i think copd and tinitus would be. Nice job as ever
Ide rather you put radio on .
100%
Why not a double skin
It is???
He put ties in so it’s gotta be a twin skin
Didn't u notice blocks inside??
After I said it
Stop will ya if wants 1800 window give him one
toothing out is bit lazy and pushing in wall ties and frog down is bad workmanship and that split course is not needed and looks a bit shite
So if split course is not needed u would of out a brick on a 50 mm bed 😂😂
Apart from me forgetting 2 wall ties which shows reality as a lot forget and shows real bricklaying ..everything else u mentioned is worrying ..u either didn’t listen to me on the video or you had the day off when they wore teaching toothing
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 didn't need the split course because you could have put a bit of extra effort in to dig out for full brick same as toothing out I would have toothed out to allow my full brick also I never would lay frog down as its bad practice and I do forget to put the odd wall tie in so I will let you of with that one 👍
@@scoyle1750 so you would break out all the concrete so you don’t have a split ? Have a day off ffs!
@@neilsmart78 your a numpty why would you dig out the concrete floor, you only need to run concrete saw down the back of it for a straight line 40mm deep and knock that lip of with breaker or hammer and bolster, come out with me for a while and I will keep you right 👍🇮🇪
Absolute cowboy ,who would put a shity split at the bottom should have cut the concrete out to make the brickwork course in full brick.show us your bricklayers gold card, that's if you've got one
Great video
however I will say, my friend that mask is not designed to do anything as far as silica dust is concerned. Please get a proper mask. You're health is important
Why the frogs going down and not up😬
Probably because he had to grind no biggie we have to do it at times nothing is going to happen to the wall because the bricks are frog down lol
Grinding mate
Frog up or down its not coming down... its a dozen or so opening? The compo pushes up into the frog when u lay the brick!!
Sound not very good .
Bricklaying must have the most negative people involved in a trade ,shame on u frog down awful stuff🤣🤣, u trying to recreate your bedroom with mirrors on the wall🤣🤣 and ceilings
that mask is a total waste of time, it is meant for an operating theatre to prevent the spread of germs, NOT to protect from dust inhalation.
So can somebody please tell me why no bricklayers on UA-cam can't lay a brick with a full cross joint??????
When you tool them you have to point them all. Look at 17:00 in the video most joints need pointed to fill them. When you put the last brick in double joint the brick your laying and give the others a smear the mortar on you brick won't pull off and you need not blade it to fill it.
No clue why most hold a trowel with their thumb past the end of the ferrule and get their hand in the mortar. Maybe some limp ass bricklayer. Obviously he has enough arm strength to keep his hand out of the mortar.
Going into the toothing I just cut corner of the brick not split it if not cleaning the toothing out completely.
Decent hand but to much back and forth on the bed mortar especially if you're worrying about time and dropping mortar on the ground. You only have to walk in it then.
Two swipes for a joint not three 33% faster.
Waste of time filling tops of cross joints they should be full already.
Your video skipped over you filling all the vertical perps.
Two get the bed ready to lay two brick you made 11 movements. Waste of time and energy.
Dampen the brick to lay them tighter easier. You spread less also.
I remember when bricklayers didn't need a plastic guard to use a chisel.
Your back at each block cross joint 3-4 times to strike them .
Still one of the better bricklayers on UA-cam.
Not sure if that's much of a compliment 😜
look at Rob Songer, full joint every time
I bet your a barrel of laughs on the beer… lighten up buddy.. Having the bottle to show your work on such a public forum earns my respect any day! I for one wouldn’t do it. His channel isn’t all about full joints , perfect toothing, bang on plumb every single time.. it’s about the whole building game .. back stories , advice , banter , learning, respect for the brickies of the old days.. there’s much more to it than being a perfect bricklayer and I couldn’t give one shit if a perp wasn’t full or if I didn’t dampen a brick to help grind..all the best bud, hope your not so harsh On your next comment 👍
@@MrFlynnytwo but slow
@@PB-ds1to he should have a pod cast if he's not instructing on bricklaying.
@@PaddleDogC5 l am not a Bricky (plasterer) but one thing is for sure he is not slow another is show me any one who has had work done and it is not up to standard they will never say “yeh it is rough but he laid those bricks really fast”
