Nice to have external cable routing, makes the life of a mechanic so much easier, is great that John is guiding the design engineers to avoid the internal cable routing nonsense.
I love the external cable routing. I hope that the production bike stays like that. I wrench on my own bikes and internal cable routing is a big PITA for me almost every time I have to swap brakes, replace cables, or swap frames.
WOW! Incredible sled. 😯 Would be nice if some of this tech would come to the Primer in an aluminum version. Bro! That would be sick! They would sell like crazy! Look how the Rimpo AF and Stumpy Aluminum are killing it on the sales. Intense should have a Primer in Carbon and Aluminum.
At 19:08, AG doing is best C3PO impersonation!! :) So WHEN will this bike be available to the public? I'm itching to replace my M16. Also, will it be available in aluminum??
Not sure if anyone has answered this or if this is supposed to be out there on the internet but..I talked to the Intense reps at sea otter last week where the bike was on display. Dude, it looks just as good or better in person! They said the goal is to have it available February 2024. So maybe realistically itll be available April..? They said it'll be aluminum. A carbon option may follow (not sure on that though). They said there will be a frameset option as well in addition to a full build🙌 no info on price point sadly. But take this with a grain of salt..things could change. Just relaying over what they told me at sea otter!
@@lukeblankshain Thanks for the info. That's what I was hoping for so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can be on a new DH bike next season. 👍🏼 I wish they would "officially commit/comment" on this. It's the same way they handled the release of the new Tracer enduro bike.
@Ricky Downhill of course man! Getting info on the M279 was priority #1 for me at sea otter lol im in the same boat. I was pretty stoked after talking with them. All the answers I was hoping for. I think it's safe to assume sometime in Q2 though. Give em a little shift for dev and manufacturing.
@@lukeblankshain This was the same boat I was in when I wanted to replace my 2016 Tracer in 2021. They kept teasing the new one, gave no info on when it was going to be built and I was totally in the market for a new one for several years. I got sick and tried of waiting and bought a GG Gnarvana instead. Which I love btw... but they lost out on a 6-8K sale from me. I AM buying a new DH bike next season so I HOPE this one is ready. If it's not, I guess I'll be off Intense for both bikes. :(
bad ass bike and great vid Aron.. thanx for all you do for mtb and the vids on here... u rock bro.. maybe u can do a vid about Why u only use renthal bars and stem and fox stuff.. think that would help a lot of us Mtb newbs/mortals LOL with choosing components like those.. your always very In depth and honest!! Much Appreciated
Hi Aaron , is that frame going to make it to production , i would buy 1 right now if it were available , glad to see that you got rid of the banana hammock
Those tires are basically e13 A/T tires aren't they ? Been running these for a few seasons and they are good especially with the MoPo compound. Not great when it gets muddy tho as the knobs are short enough but otherwise I get why you like these and asked Vee to release those under their name too (Vee has been producing e13 tires for 3/4 years now since e13 got kicked out of Maxxis factory with many other brands like Onza for exemple few years back)
It amazes me how ALL the legends (all of them check any interview or bike check from Sam Hill, Jack Moir, Jesse Melamed, Greg Minaaar [or anyone else for that matter]etc recently)of the sport favour much more conservative geo numbers than the industry marketeers would have you believe. Reach being one of the fundamental dimensions none of them will stray from. Geo dimensions on production models since about 2018 have gone off the charts (ridiculously) when you compare them to these real humans and what they prefer. And you want a lesser experienced riders on such whack numbers? Why is this happening?
The slower you ride, the more confidence you need out of your bike. The more skilled you are, the more you need a bike that will respond to your inputs.
The only gripe I have is the frame isn't polished to a mirror finish. If you want to strip the anodizing off it, send it to me, I'll make that sucker POP!
looking refined and dialed!
I think vuluetainmet podcast should sponsor neko or gwin
Make downhill great again
Nice to have external cable routing, makes the life of a mechanic so much easier, is great that John is guiding the design engineers to avoid the internal cable routing nonsense.
Yup
The final bike will have internal cable routing no doubt and will probably be carbon.
Alloy still rules! Stoked to see you and this bike run this season, go for six Aaron.
No one does aluminium like intense. Their bikes have always been things of beauty in terms of tube forming and gussets.
this bike looks like a fighter jet
Colour is a bit drab for intense though, usually a bit more in ya face than that. Still cool tho 😎
Nicolai might not agree..
The very first thing I noticed was the aluminum frame. I know carbon is all the rage, but I would personally never want a carbon DH bike frame.
Check Alutech Bikes
F’n way way epic!!! Wow!!!🤩🤩😎😎👏👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼💯
Heal strong and fast🤙🤙
This is one of the most beautiful bike i ever saw !
Best of luck this season Aaron! High five from Trestle Bike park and Winter Park CO!
Really nice choice for this improvised "studio" setup with natural light and dark background
Now that's how you do a bike check! Killer looking machine.
I love the external cable routing. I hope that the production bike stays like that. I wrench on my own bikes and internal cable routing is a big PITA for me almost every time I have to swap brakes, replace cables, or swap frames.
Pumped for this season... thanks for sharing the new bike
Love the detail of the bike check. Good luck this season, so looking forward to cheering you on this year!
Works components definitely is a must for old to modern bikes!
Thanks for your time master. ❤
Aaron I wish you the best this season. You’re one of the best riders and all around good human. Keep it up!
Damn..that bike is soo beautiful!!
Never thought of buying an Intense since they always looked too massive, but wow..
Nice content dude!
Yeah this bike look alot better then the other proto. This frame looks cool.
Arron, thank you very much, the bike looks fantastic
Bike is fire, man! Amazing work getting it to where it is and all the best this season. Can’t wait to see you and Dak win some races.
WOW! Incredible sled. 😯

Best of luck for the new Season. The bike looks awesome!
That might just be one of the best looking DH bikes ever in my opinion
I think that frame looks absolutely badass just the way it is.
Super trick setup. I’d buy one without thinking twice.
Very slick looking bike! Thanks for the detailed rundown. Wishing you a safe and successful season 🙏
Bike’s looking super nice…
So cool to hear in depth info on your setup
That linkage looks interesting. Wheelbase looks longer too. Kick ass this season and show those young guys how its done
Hope you have a great season to you and the team!!
6:58 I love how he just casually land into the next berm instead of the landing 😂
Those Vee tires look exactly like E13 A/Ts
Nice, I run and really like those brakes and grips.
Very nice and futuristic looking.
Nice ride wish you the best this season you are still the beast riding a bike best pf luck
Congrats Aaron! I’m rooting for u and your team this year even though I work for Pivot😂 good luck bro!
There should be a hall of fame for DH legends. Arron Gwin possibly the GOAT 🐐

Really interesting to hear about the brakes. I run Saints and still have to bleed and mess with them a lot.
Beatyfull and agressive🔥🔥

Super interesting to see how this is completely different from the prototype dh bike you were running a bit ago with the massive rocker link
👌 Le bike est pas mal Aaron..on verra cette saison ..bonne chance a toi !
Cool Bike. Enjoy it.
Very pretty bike and alloy...
Lucky You have Gold TRP Calipers but the Black levers which is what I wanted but couldn't get. I run Full gold TRP DH-R EVO now
I hope they keep it alloy when theyre coming to production. Im into pick one if they do.
The fork rake stands up more like an enduro bike. Interesting rear shock geometry.
Gwin for the win. Let’s go!!
Great looking bike Aaron. Are you running a mullet set up? It looks like you are. Good luck this season.
To all the people asking!!
It’s in the title !
279
27.5 29 mixed wheel size
Just nice too see aluminum frame think just better for average rider last longer can't wait to see production bikes
Awesome bike Aaron!
Intense boys let’s go!
THE slickest bike at uci
Hi Aaron , is that frame going to make it to production , i would buy 1 right now if it were available , glad to see that you got rid of the banana hammock
The cockpit set up video was so useful!! Thank u - still have a bit of wrist pain though any tips
Dammmmm that looks so slick
Super Super sick bike! I haven’t seen Intense bikes for years, why don’t bike shops stock them? I honestly thought Intense stopped making bikes
Looks killer 💯
Nice M1.
🇺🇸Excellent DH ride, Arron you're the Best & Craziest rider . .. ..you, use the course & the obstacles in it, to your advantage 👍🌎
Good Looking rig
I wonder if he still runs a custom 9 degree back sweep renthal bar..
Sweet bike and your riding skills are badass!! What head angle do you prefer?
Nice!
That is a good looking bike
Lets see that mini ex in action!

he talks so easily, he sells the product easily, congratulations
Aaron first time I am hearing you moved to Tennessee. Why? Mountain biking is good in socal. Curious on the decision.
Do you like horst link better than vpp. ?
Figured its a fair question since Intense has built both. Cheers.
Hey Aaron curious if you experiment with your fork offset on the 40 per track or if you just stay with a standard and what is it?
I llllove the fact .. that this old timer, smashes thess kids on DH mtb'n... keep it up old timer!!!!!!!
Funny that he never mentioned the frames suspension design or for that matter the wheel size.
Looks good 👍. What hubs your running?
Hey Aaron, what do you think about Magnetic Pedal?I drive Flats but I will change it!
No bling on it, "HOPE" Take it to Barlick, get it blinged up
Everyone raves about santacruz bikes being the coolest, I’ve always found intense way cooler since I first bought the M1 over 20 years ago.
Maybe I missed it, but what Renthal bar is he running? Looks like aluminum but 31.8mm or 35mm?
bikes cool. but whatre those pants? crisp fit
lol i bought that watch. its pretty sick for the money.
Those vee tyres look so similar to maxxis dhr 2's
Getting myself 1 💯
27.5 rear wheel ? Or 29
What's with the abandoned building? 🤔
LFG! Smash those little euro weenies this year!
We need Lenzerheide and Leogang vlogs
Specialized -canyon - intense evryone following same design but different leverage ratio etcccc..
Sick bike. Cool to see you hit all the stuff at Rock Creek.
Sweet specialized demo. Looks like the brainchild of Chamberlain.
Is this a high pivot 6 bar rear suspension?

Now that you live in Tennessee…have you learned (learnt?) to speak “ya’ll”?
Vee makes the dhr2 also
Looks like a Canyon Sender...
u running 220 and 220 rotors front and rear?
Whats your height and bike size??
Lets get an American win at uci again!
The only gripe I have is the frame isn't polished to a mirror finish. If you want to strip the anodizing off it, send it to me, I'll make that sucker POP!
Anybody know how tall Aaron Gwin is? Would like to compare the reaches using to my height and reach
6'9"
Dont matter. What works for him might not work for you. Everyone’s torso and arm lengths differ.
