Great video and thank you. As a CC resident I searched "having chickens in backyard in south texas" and your video was the first on the list. Great tips, and I can't wait to start having chickens for eggs and start planting fruits and veggies.

I was told a chicken will lay and egg every 26 hours, so if a chicken is laying almost everyday, the eggs will come anytime during the day or night. Typically they will not lay when they are in their night box, but they will then lay right away in the am. The chickens can hold their eggs if they are in danger or not comfortable. But they will keep laying as long as they feel comfortable.
I also live in Corpus Christi and am trying to start up with some chickens I just want to know if they lay eggs and I get at work at 4 will the eggs go bad in this heat.
If you want eggs get ducks. I have ducks and chickens and ducks can't be beat for eggs. They are fairly messy though and will bully chickens if they live together.

Thank you for this video. I have 4 chickens, live in Corpus and enjoy them.
This was a very informative video. Thanks for sharing. Is it possible to get a tour of the chicken coop? Are there any upcoming demos in the area?
At this time we are not offering tours or demos. Please feel free to email us questions at contact@growlocalsouthtexas.org
My chickens lay in the chimnea so I don’t make a fire in there. I don’t wash the eggs prior to cooking. The heat kills any bacteria.
I live in Corpus on The Island. but can’t raise them. Would love to buy free range eggs. Know anybody who sells them?

They'll be fine. I wouldn't leave them in direct sun, but your nesting box will be in the shade
