It's tough, but you have a nice fish on your hook it's important to stay calm. It happens that you get super pumped because a nice fish is on. Sadly, I've lost fish due to structure and line frayed. Earlier in the summer, I used a chartreuse crappie jig head. I used a fly snap so I could tie chartreuse crappie jig head to line. Then, I used a white ribbon tail grub. This setup looks like small live baitfish. I put trophy bass on and a 4plus if not 5 lb smallie broke my fly snap. Line got frayed on brush. The big smallie rolled on his back and game over. 😢

Awesome video guys! I just learned about this channel a couple weeks ago. I’m new to fishing and haven’t ever caught a fish yet. I’m interested in salmon and steelhead and live in Oregon. I did have a question. I have nothing against catch and release, but why were these fish released and not kept?

Nice fish guys I've been hunting big Chinook all season and I've only managed to catch 3 jack coho threw everything I had at em spinners, jigs, twitching jigs, beads and even multiple cures of eggs and nothin. Wish I could of afforded a guide trip

what rod and reel setup are you using in this video, and by that I mean like what brand rod and what rod size/weight, and also what brand reel and also reel size, and last but not least what line are you guys using (brand, weight)

the two craziest things that have happened I have been a part of were summer steelhead fishing in the lower columbia, it was the end of the tide and about ready to pack up and my rod gets hit 1 time and stops. I picked it up and let it set a second before reeling it in and it was just feeling heavy but no yanks at all. As I am reeling in, my buddy is looking at it saying there was nothing on it while I insisted that it didn't feel right. As soon as the leader got to the transom, it started coming up fast. Before anyone could react, a little 6 or so pound steelie jumps over the transom, between the motors and lands on the floor of the boat. We were all laughing like a bunch of hyenas over that.
The other one was trolling herring around davis bar with my dad. I was showing him how to adjust the spin to get it looking good before sending it down. I rigged his herring and told him to hang it off the back in the water to see how it was spinning, the flasher was about 3' behind the boat and in 30 feet of water, a big chinook came up and grabbed it like we were top water fishing. To this day I have never seen anything like that again. I was 100% sure when he said he has one on that he was messing with me.
