Bernhard Henrik Crusell (15 October 1775 - 28 July 1838) was a Swedish-Finnish clarinetist, composer and translator, "the most significant and internationally best-known Finnish-born classical composer and indeed, - the outstanding Finnish composer before Sibelius".
    Work: Clarinet Concerto No.1 in E flat-major, Op.1 (c. 1811)
    Mov.I: Allegro 00:00
    Mov.II: Adagio 10:42
    Mov.III: Rondo: Allegretto 14:40
    Clarinet: Per Billman
    Orchestra: Uppsala Kammarorkester
    Conductor: Gérard Korsten
The first of Crusell's three clarinet concertos, the Concerto in E flat major, Opus 1, dedicated to Count Gustav Trolle-Bonde, is thought to have been written at some time between 1803 and 1805 and was published in Leipzig in 1811.
The work opens with the expected orchestral exposition, after which the soloist enters with a characteristically embellished version of the first subject, leading, in writing that displays the range and possibilities of the clarinet, to the second subject, now in the expected key of B flat major. The material is developed and returns in recapitulation. The A flat major slow movement allows the clarinet a brief aria, to be followed by the lively final Rondo, which again finds room for virtuoso display in scales, arpeggios and figuration that exploits the contrasted registers of the solo instrument.

Crusell's Concertos remind me of Krommer, but with a HELL LOT of notes.

@@TakatoEndou Indeed, this one sounds a lot like Krommer's in E-flat.

More serious than Mozart, but still happy and uplifting.

I've always found Mozart's bloody damn serious. The joy in it is just the surface, a facade one tries to hide their worries behind. If you hear deeper you will find out there's actually torment inside - notice how longer phrases end up whirling in lower register over minor chords, as if the clarinet was to burst into tears in a moment. The joy of K. 622 seems insincere - that emotional ambiguity is the key characteristic which allows you to date Mozart's works by ear, its presence increases in later works. Early ones (e.g. Bassoon Concerto) adhere to the Baroque 'affect' fashion almost strictly.

Please watch this at the lowest quality only (144p) since it's just for the music, which is much more ecologically responsible than at a higher rate. Watching this at 240p (which is unnecessary for listening purposes), will increase the bandwith by double to almost tenfold! At 1080 the bandwith is augmented by a factor of 100!
The use of digital technology accounts for 4% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, as much as the emissions from the world's truck fleet. Of that, a BIG part comes from livestreaming videos, mainly 3 sources : UA-cam, Netflix and porn.
Let's enjoy this beautiful music by being aware and responsible, doing our little part in decreasing our carbon footprint and protecting this wonderful planet for the generations to come.

Thanks for this. I had no idea. I just reduced from 720p (my default apparently) to 144p and I have to admit I hear absolutely no difference. Your message needs to be spread.

Finnish-born is not correct, since he was not Finnish. Finland-born is better. In Swedish he would be classified as Finlandsvensk, which is also true for 'Janne' as he was named in his family, later Jean with surname Sibelius. People of Swedish descent living in Finland and having Swedish as their first and often only language.
