Hello! Thank you for your video! It helped me with my same Ustar circular cutter. I didn't know about adjustment of the needle, without it I ripped my cutting mat with this cutter.
Thank you for watching the video and leaving your feedback. That's very appreciated 😊 I'm glad my tutorial helped you about the blade adjustment. Yeah, that's the reason I did the cuts on the green cutting mat and adjusted the blade accordingly, to try to avoid cutting the wooden-like mat into tiny circles! 🙂
I've had mine for two years now and use it for masks on models. For what I paid - 20 euros - it works very well. Repeatability is a problem if you have to cut smaller circles within a larger one (british roundels), and precise positioning needs some practice cuts but overall no need to waste money on the more expensive models made by the same manufacturer.
Thank you very much for your feedback, that's very appreciated. I'm glad to hear you've been using this rotary cutter for 2 years and still happy with the way it works. My plan is also to use it for masks on models, maybe for disc brakes and round lamps. Fully agree with you about precise cutting, definitely not always easy when you need those type of masks (like the roundels). Once again, thank you 👍🏼
The precautions say "...avoiding accidental swallowing of infants." Funny... Seriously, I never knew something like this existed. Great review. Not sure if I need it, but knowing it's out there helps.
Haha, I hadn't noticed that precaution before, but now I can't unsee it.. I hope they had something else in mind when writing it 😅 Thanks for watching and leaving your feedback, that's very appreciated. I definitely won't be using this cutter frequently, but I'm glad it's there for when the time comes! 😊👍🏼
As with all these circle cutters, this one does not have a fine enough adjustment, as can be witnessed by your second effort which would be useless as a mask as it does not fit at all around the centre.
Hello Nigel, thank you for watching the video and leaving your feedback. I agree with you about not being able to carry out a precise adjustment. The measurement knob is a bit rough, but I can definitely get better sized masks then shown in the video. Due to the camera I couldn't focus well on the dial markings as I was looking through the display, so I'm looking forward to make several other mask trials. Hopefully these will have a better, more precise fitment.
@ I am surprised no one has made on with a fine screw adjustment. Like, when the mask is just 1mm too big or small it is very hard to adjust by 0.5mm with just the designs we have today.
Fully agreed there Nigel, I think the best solution would be if some company invents a circular cutter with a digital display. Like for example the ones found on digital vernier calipers. That would definitely be very accurate up to a fraction of a mm. Maybe in the near future 😊
Thanks for this. I have the round metal (earlier?) version which is quite good when set up properly but is difficult to position on small pieces of tape or styrene. This one seems to have some benefits in this area although the sizing mechanism looks very flimsy. I agree with another comment that the sizing isn't as good as it could be - something affecting the one I have too. I also think they should have included at least one extra blade! Perhaps version 3 will be the utopia we all crave?!?! 😊
Hello Jeff, thanks for watching the video and leaving your feedback. I'm not sure if the round one was released before the one I tested. My friend has one like mine and was getting some good round masks out of it, and that's what encouraged me to buy this instead of the round metal! Yeah measurement adjustment system could benefit from some updating honestly. You could get a perfectly sized round mask, but I guess it will take a couple tries adjusting the rough scale. An extra blade? Definitely 😊 Considering how fragile it is, an extra one would have been lovely! But they sell them separately.. in a set of 3, so that may be the reason why they just give you 1.. marketing 🙂 The best thing would be if the next model has a digital display, like a digital vernier for example, with decimal places! That would be accurate for sure 😊
Hi a very good review. I have one of these cutters and it works really well for simple masks as you showed. My issue is that it’s difficult to get the cutter positioned accurately when you want to cut in a particular place. I’m thinking custom decals for example. Dispiae sell an extra positioning tool which I haven’t been able source here in Germany. Anyone here have any thoughts or ideas?
Hello Michael, thank you for watching and leaving your feedback. I'm glad you like my review. Positioning the circle cutter exactly at the perfect spot might not be easy, from what I could see during the testing. You have to find the exact center of the item you're cutting and then try placing it exactly in the middle of the circles at the bottom of the cutter, which ain't easy agreed. Did you try AliExpress for the positioning tool? I find Ali as the best stocked and best priced when it comes to Dspiae products. Maybe they have it in stock. Now that you've mentioned it, I'm also curious to purchase it for myself too 😊
Thank you Kevin, your subscription to my channel is very appreciated 😊 I also subscribed to your channel, that pick up truck in the profile picture looks awesome 👍🏼
Well done for that pick up build, no wonder it's one of your favourite 👍🏼 no problem Kevin about not having any content, maybe in the future you'll upload your first video and UA-cam will let me know about it 😊👍🏼
I have tried lots of circle cutters (including the more expensive anodized red metal Dspaie version). Frankly they’re all worthless for cutting anything thicker than paper
Hello Chris, thanks for your feedback. Judging by the size of the blade and how fragile it looks, I also think that it's intended for thin material. Luckily, I only plan to cut masking tape with it. And maybe my wife will use it for some paper crafts. So we both should be safe cutting what we planned without damaging it 😊
Thanks for your feedback. To be honest, I won't be using it daily or even weekly either! But I'm glad it's in the tools drawer, for that time I would need a custom round mask 😊
I'm sure of that! I think people doing paper crafts might have a frequent use for it. But as a modeller, I'm glad it's there in my drawer waiting to be used! I'm sure I'll use it a couple times while building a car model kit, especially for the disc brakes as shown 😊👍🏼
Hello Joe, thanks for watching and leaving your feedback. The high end looks awesome, was tempted to get that one but I saw great reviews on the PT-C and got that instead. I'll keep an eye out for the knock offs then, definitely prefer the original Dspiae ones. Thanks again 👍🏼
Very good demonstration, thank you! I am ordering one now.
Thank you for viewing and leaving your feedback Andrew, that's very appreciated 😊👍🏼
What an incredible little gadget! Thank you very much for sharing.

I have the high end cutter and it worth every penny. You have to just watch out for Chinese knock offs selling these cutters.
