- A young man attends a musical recital at the Academy of Music and Personality and falls for a gorgeous lady singer. It just so happens his dad is auditioning for a musical chorus line, and is looking for ladies with great legs. The son introduces the singer, but somehow dad thinks her legs are, well, just not good enough. Crazy comedy musical fun from the Pre-Code era. A Mack Sennett Talking Picture comedy from the early days of sound film. Stars Andy Clyde, Daphne Pollard, Ann Christy, Nick Stewart, Vernon Dent, Patsy O'Leary, William Strauss, William Hays, and Sid Saylor. Transferred from 16mm b-w film.
Andy Clyde's 79 Columbia shorts (1934-1956) were second in output to The Three Stooges.
Photographer Mack Stengler had a 40 year career in TV & Film, most notably "Leave It to Beaver". Beaver" (1957-1962)
Andy Clyde looks the same here as he did in Lassie 30 years later.
Another part of film history unearthed by the sublime ops at Moviecraft. Not a good comedy short, no comedy and feeling anything but short. There is no comparison to what the Columbia Shorts Department was churning out as competition. Still, what an artifact and thanks to Moviecraft for uploading it! Keep the videos coming!
Will do. Thanks!
