I climbed this one mountain 4x in a span of 15 years, and last year was the best experience. I didnt get any AMS. What I did was 1. Go Slow. 2. Drink more water. 3. Control breathing 4. Diamox half a tablet 2 days before and on the ascent day.

I wonder if Kelly Riis-Johannessen has any thoughts on COVID-19 as it relates to some of its similarities to High Altitude Sickness. Severe headache, nausea, dizziness, extreme fatigue.

I just went through altitude sickness, and it felt very similar to my covid experience. Covid was worse. I wonder if low iron plays a part.

What personally helped me, and probably saved me is the homeopathic remedy called Coca.
Experienced naturopaths suggested and I am so very grateful because this allowed me to enjoy more at higher altitudes, incl. skiing.

Those results cited in this video were already published somewhere? I'm interested in studying these findings. Congratulations.

In your experiment, did you consider what the subjects activity prior to getting the altitude sickness? Such as the travel involved to get to the high altitude area? I I was one who suffered from altitude sickness after arriving in Woodland Park,Colorado. I now realize that perhaps the long drive there and setting in the vehicle the whole drive was probably a great contributor to the sickness. Lack of movement for all of that time probably causing my blood to pool instead of a good flow from activity. Got there late at night and went straight to bed and woke the next morning with a horrible headache and vomiting. After going down to lower altitude for several hours to another town, I began to feel better and then realized what was the matter. I did not hear you address this in your talk so I thought I would bring to your attention that activity involved or lack of activity could greatly make a difference in whether a person got sick or not, correct? I will definitely keep it in mind the next time I go to Colorado. Thank you for your information though as I believe it will be helpful.

I took the time to watch the entire talk only to find out that the alternative treatment for altitude sickness is to go see an Osteopath. There’s no empowering information for people to take home at the end of the talk.

I found this video cringy … to really treat AMS and beyond you need actual real meds like Diamox, Nifedipine, dexamethisone not some naturopathic bs. Seriously 😒

Great job Kelly! This was an amazing education on altitude sickness and the venous congestion! I wish you could travel with me every time I went to altitude. Are there ways to maybe see an osteopath before trips and then any manipulations we can do ourself up at altitude? I am also researching herbal and vitamin supplements to help with the drainage.

I just watched something like this about covid 19. People are getting apoxia "lack of oxygen" but no symptoms of heart attack or even awareness of lack of oxygen but instead a euphoria like during altitude sickness. Drs want to re think the treatment and not just treat covid with phemonia treatments as they are now.

This presentation was terrible in so many ways. It seemed more like an ad for osteopathy. She reveals essentially no information. Her visual aids are absurd and her presentation style is a bizarre mix of TED inflection and breathless marketing.
