    The Huntsville AL Community has, off and on for almost 80 years, had been at the forefront of rocket engineering.. Saturn V example.. Decatur is 10 mins from Huntsville. Congratulations and good luck to the hard working engineers and techs keeping the rockets roaring 👍

    Not even sad ULA is getting sold, because it would give the company a clear vision and show everyone what this team can do!

      Although SpaceX has far exceeded NASA's (and everyone else's) expectations, it's high time ULA and the other (main?) players either pooped or got off the pot.
      The US needs them to succeed. So go ULA... get 'er done!

    How can you have "the best launch team in the world" when you haven't done any launches? Those BE-4 engines are going to fail. It's gonna be ugly.

    • @johnbize5736
      @johnbize5736 7 місяців тому +1

      Think happy thoughts please.
      Those BE-4s were selected in 2014 I believe, and were promised to be the most advanced and highest thrust methalox staged-combustion engines ever.
      Ok, so far they've come up a bit short. This time the delay is someone else's fault. But for the sake of US space flight, we need them to succeed.
      So please cross your fingers and think happy thoughts. And don't worry, only the Chinese have a shot at catching SpaceX.

      @@johnbize5736 They weren't selected in 2014. They were chosen along with Aerojet Rocketdyne's AR1 as candidates for what became Vulcan Centaur. After 3 year years, Blue Origin had not only built injectors, preburners and other parts for testing, they had a full power pack, and then complete engines for testing on the stand. By 2018. But Aerojet Rocketdyne had nothing to show in that time and after a quarter billion had been given them by the Air Force and ULA, just a few pieces of prototype hardware.
      The BE-4 is very advanced and excluding the Raptor 3 prototypes, it is the highest thrust engine. In fact, Tory Bruno mentioned that the engines were exceeding their thrust and specific impulse goals.
      The delay was all on ULA for failing to have the proper tolerances on the Centaur V hydrogen dome, which lead to the leak, which in turn lead the deflagration that lead to the qual unit's failure during a very high stress test back in March. That's the only reason there's been a 9 month delay. The BE-4 finished qual testing back in April, and then an FRF in June.
