Nice. Restoration of a historic structure like the Gellert takes a lot of time and $. You need to create a construction plan, line up all the contractors and of course it has to make financial sense. All this take time and you may have to go back to the drawing board several times.
Very sad to see this. Had a fantastic stay in mid 2010s and I loved the retro vibe. Didnt notice anything falling apart. I hope the renovation keeps its character.
Yes, if you stayed at the hotel you would have definitely entered the spa through the hotel! In the olden days the entrance fee to the spa was included in the hotel booking and there was a reception area between the hotel and the spa where we could leave our keys while we went to the spa.
I have an idea for your next video. Why don't you talk about országbérlet? :)) Since the scheme will be change tomorrow and I am afraid that I'll get penalty for not buying the necessary additional ticket, this topic will be really useful for us foreigner
I’m afraid of that as well!😅 I find it really complicated (based on the info online) so maybe when I’ve worked it out, I will! Have you been using the országbérlet?
Bobby Fischer lived here for years, Nixon rented a room here, when were in Budapest. During the Antall government, the basement was equipped with telex machines and all foreign relations telegrams were sent here instead of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Állítólag a zárás előtti héten rengeteg magyar vendég szállt meg ott, sokan még budapesti címmel is! Az emberek meg akarták nézni mégegyszer így utoljára.🙂
It has the same vibes with my panel house dormitory room
😅 That's a good comparison! 👍 They're sort of from the same era!

I hope that's the reason. 🤞 It just seems strange that there is such a big gap between the hotel closing and any renovation starting.

A lot of buildings in Hungary seem to take ages to renovate.
Voltam már ott bizony😊

LAMENTABLE 😢😢😢😢😢
Yes, it’s sad, but I hope they’ll do something with it soon!
