  • Hey everyone! In this video, I'm sharing what I think is Reason's most overlooked feature - the ability to sample directly into the racks. Unlike other DAWs, this feature lets you capture and manipulate sounds on the fly, making your music production workflow so much smoother. Check it out and see how it can change your game!

    For whatever Reason is missing, it has many really cool features that I know a lot of producers would love. Even if they use Reason as a playground for initial ideas. It's a super creative space to work in.

      Totally agree, Reason is so unique in a way that elicit so much creativity and playfulness out of my workflow

    I have connected the control room output from the mixer to the sampling input. So I can sample everything that comes out of the master at any time.

    The SampleOneXT sampler in Studio One can also live record/sample from any instrument or audio input/output inside the session. It's not the most fully featured sampler but I do love the live record part of it.

    Reason went over my head for over a decade, you explained it pretty well!

    Recroding dirrectly into Reason devices was not available in early versions, I think it come in Reason 6, which is still pretty early.

    I like to use send 8 connected to the sampling input. Saves having to plug and unplug individual devices. Just turn the send on and off.

    Wow! It opens the "resampling" feature. And we can use Redrum as SP-404 and resample itself twiking and layering the sound every iteration.

    Dude , it4s been there since version 5.0
    Anyone who doesn't know this amazing feature lacks motiation to explore
    And correction , studio one also allows to directly record-sample into it's sampler (sample one , impac xt )

    But that's then not how it actually in real hardware works. The Audio IO has a Sampling Input but how does the audio signal physically reach the sampler like Redrum?
    The sampler itself should have the Sampling Input, that's how it is in real hardware.

    • @RandomNoiseMusic
      @RandomNoiseMusic  18 днів тому

      True, but it's a minor detail I feel. Because, eventually you do sample directly on the Redrum (or any other sample based rack)

    On that note, I find sampling a 'synth' and throwing that inside an audio track / instrument (lets say redrum). Ehm, quite... what should I say counter productive to say the least. Because the audio track is your raw data. Sure you can minipulate that, yet I am more fond of playing with a synth while doing it. Since I can twist knobs and throw the sound in any direction I see fit.
    And to be honest, that is often the way I went for. Sure it costs more CPU, but ehm... we are now 2024.
    Sampling in a device still has its purpose though. Especially if you go for the organic stuff. But this has nothing to do with sampling from an instrument.

      Yeah, I somewhat agree, I usually use this to sample percussive drum like elements, not so much synths part or melody. I agree that we have so much power now that we can just use the synths instead of that. Although creative sampling can also bring interesting results sometimes

    Nothing special. Can be done in Ableton too. All the audio editing including "normalize", fades, reverse, record, etc.

    • @RandomNoiseMusic
      @RandomNoiseMusic  29 днів тому +2

      Audio editing yes, but there is no way to sample directly into simpler or sampler. Say you want to build a drum rack in which you sample different sounds, you will have to record them one by one into a channel first or record one long take which you can slice later. But I find the way it works in Reason is much faster and more intuitive, and reminds me how real physical samplers works.

    • @BruteWillis
      @BruteWillis 29 днів тому +1

      @@RandomNoiseMusic oh i agree. There is no "live" sampler in simpler/sampler.
