I want to thank you for getting access, and sharing these photos from World War II, and from the Korean War Era. These photos capture brief moments of happiness and time for reflection that these men (and a few women) badly needed in their brief time away from their duties in the US Armed Forces. May God bless the families of these men that served our nation during World War II and The Korean War, some of whom made the ultimate sacrifice to make the world and our nation free.

Dude-O-Rama!
Beautiful music. So soothing. Really liked the pic at 1:53. He looks as if he would be up for some guiltless fun. He wouldn't have to bother because I would have enough guilt for both of us.😊 An innocent fun time. Honorable mention at 9:35. Missed the "sailor" at end.
Sailor says music track was too loud for him to talk over and be heard on this vid so he took a powder this time around, but promises to be back. ✌️
Back on the 40's- people looks more Healthy then now , not internet no computer no cellphone just happiness .
Simpler and better 👍✌️
@@808spelunk but probably much hidden pain as well
Probably so!
They might have had less anxiety but they had their shares of sorrows. The depression was terrible and the war was devastating. And people died of what is now easily curable or preventable disease. No penicillin or antibiotics available to the general population until after 1945. No polio vaccine until 1950.
I understand more men died from tropical diseases than battle in the Pacific, as many refused to take military dispensed antibiotics. Very sad.
I just love watching and binging on your channel! That you’ve so much time collecting and sharing these really is something! Makes me want to get the garage and sift through my own family’s old photos. Thank you!
I'm always excited to go through a new collection. But I never knew I'd have a platform to share them on. So glad you can sense my excitement and glad to hear it's contagious, so to speak!
808spelunk: GREAT pictures & BEAUTIFUL music!
Great pics. Well composed and sexy in a tasteful, playful kinda way. Kinda makes you want to go back then and hang out with them. Great music too.
Wonderful, beautiful men, my how fleeting time is.
Don't let it slip by!✌️
I was the one who was always lugging my camera everywhere, I got that from my dad. People woulda say do you really need to take pictures? I told them yes, someday you will thank me. This proves it! When it comes down to it, all you have are pictures and they truly are worth a thousand words. Thank you for this!
What a great comment. Nice one looking forward and promoting the value of capturing moments in time. They all become priceless, inevitably.
I love these pics!! The fella on the left at 2:10 into the video looks dressed like someone you would see today. His pants are a modern style.
Isn't it interesting how some men pop out as looking very contemporary? Like they got lost in time somehow. ✌️
Absolutely History
They were slightly shorter with wider rib cages.
These old photos are terrific. ❤😊
They are really full of life.
Excellent title .... indeed WHAT was hidden in these gentlemen's boxes: they do look pretty rugged 🤔
Always nice to see real men again.
Wherever you are or whatever the time it is, men also do appreciate a compliment.@@808spelunk
My dad had a nice gabardine jacket hanging in the livingroom coat closet for many years. It was from the era pictured here. I wish I had it now.
Was a great era for men's jackets! Did it have lettering on back? You often saw lettering for affiliations like bowling league etc.
@@808spelunk No lettering. Desi Arnez wore a similar jacket as the character Ricky Ricardo on "I Love Lucy."
🇫🇴🇬🇧 Ho Joe, a great shoebox archive of images again ✔️ Great cars shown too including the Studebaker 👍👍 How great to have visited that hacienda house/hotel too. Yup life seemed easier back then through hindsight/rose tinted glasses, but it was kust as complex as todays life is. Cheers guys, DougT
Perhaps, but it won't stop me from longing to have lived in that time. It comes across to these eyes as a world of substance and order. Very appealing on many levels. ✌️
@@808spelunkHi Joe, I'm not taking a pop at ya (or others too) hell I have lived in the past too (offer too much @times) 🧐 Personally I have had to come kicking/screaming into the modern age. Now I even do shopping on line, bank on line, and it's made my life soooo much easier. Guess what, the world's not stopped, the sky is still up 😎 BTW how did the tennis players cope in those 'tennis shoes' geeez Big hugs, Cheers DougT
6:53 well well well
Wow some of these pictures are absolutely incredible
Glad you enjoyed them. There are always some great finds in boxes of negatives. Stay tuned for more collections. ✌️
very nice
Glad you enjoyed
again REAL MEN REAL MEN gotta love em.
Look at this guys boxer shorts that is what i call""Freedon""
Men of that time, unlike today, were free, so this is appropriate! ✌️
Loved all the old automobiles
That's a great version on It's a Blue World. Is is Miller with Jo Stafford? Those men had to mix themselves live. There's going to be one microphone hanging in the middle of the band. No mixing board, no multi tracks to work with. It might be Ella singing- she sang it, but possibly someone else. Regardless, this particular version is perfect. She's great, they're great. The backup voices are very subtle. Those musicians grew up in a world that had movies, radio and records, but no TV. They had nothing to do out there in the flyovers but play their horns, and they got really good. There was a strong live music culture, with these true musicians. No cheating whatsoever. It's an era gone by.
Thanks for the great comment that helps me appreciate the track even more. This is Gene Krupa playing at the Meadowbrook on 02-05-1940 but not sure about the singer. I love the nostalgic melancholy of this performance about as much as my favorite track and what I've been treating as the Channel's official song, This Changing World. Indeed, a time gone by...
Definitely not Jo Stafford. Still, an awesome version!
Irene Daye
Thank you sir 🙏

Nobody was using steroids.
Natural always best. Back to basics.
Nobody belonged to a gym-except the YMCA
No, these men just didn't hit the gym on the regular. It's possible to achieve a muscular fit physique without steroids. Even though the lazy and too heavy people of today can't grasp that with their too slow brains.
@@4got102c
Well, at least the smart clued ones did.
😂😂😂
Reminds me of the slides my late father took while in the Navy stationed in Hawaii in the 60s, that I recently discovered.
Very cool. Photos from Hawaii from that period are some of my favorite subject matter. They capture times and places that no longer exist in quite the same way. ✌️
super
Thanks for watching!
These were the best of times, nothing gay going on here dude
A lot of incredible photos. Lovely world back then
Indeed! Thanks for watching ✌️
all these guys look pretty RUGGED .💪
Great sound track. What/who is the band/singer?
early Ella Fitzgerald
@@taddyd1 Definitely not Ella.
@@christophergordon6593 Apparently like your not familiar with her Chick Webb era voice. It definitely IS Ella. Apology accepted in advance.

Er, what?
YES! When filled with old photo views.
