Naming it The Philosophers Stone was not to be ‘extra’ it was an actual historical name from alchemist lore. It was Americans that changed it to Sorcerer to dumb it down and sound more ‘Disney’
And I’m pretty sure it’s only America that call it sorcerer. All books and movies everywhere else is Philosopher’s.

Philosophers Stone is not the "British version" of the book/movie. Sorcerer's Stone is the American version. They changed it to "Sorcerer's Stone" for the Americans because they thought they wouldn't understand.

People really didn't get the Seinfeld ending. I loved it because I knew the intention behind it:
    1) It made sense for the characters, because for 9 seasons, they were the most callous, shallow, horrible people ever. So them going to jail when everybody they were unkind to came to testify against them is. just perfect.
    2) Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld always said when the show ended they wanted to go out with a huge bomb, like the most anticlimatic ending ever. They even had a post credit scene with Jerry doing stand up in prison and getting booed off stage.
    3) Finally, the genius of the episode was that it took all the theories fans were making about how it would end (And mind you, this was before social media, which is impressive) and they teased all of the major theories in the episode, while not fulfilling any of them.
It wasn't a good episode of Seinfeld, but it was the perfect ending for Seinfeld.

I guess it's because I was 17 and didn't really have any friends who watched Seinfeld, but I never realized it was so hated. I liked it when I saw it. I was never a fanatic or anything, just something silly to laugh at. I loved that they brought back all the people they'd ever interacted with to show just how horrible they really were. Their trial was my favorite part because of that.

The fact that America couldn't grasp the word Philosopher and it had to be changed to Sorcerer is hilarious.
I was 13 in 1997, and went to see Titanic with my parents (I'm a huge history buff & was obsessed with Leo.) i remember leaving the cinema sobbing uncontrollably. I still believe there was enough room on the door for both Jack & Rose.

Americans' understanding of a philosopher is way different from the way the Brits use it. What people don't get about the Seinfeld ending (the very end, not the rest) is that they're ending on the same conversation between George and Jerry that they started with. Literally nothing has changed, they haven't grown at all, and they've learned nothing - and that's because they were nothing but self-serving garbage for the entire run of the show.. It literally could not have ended any other way and made sense. Were they supposed to do all that and then find love and happiness and success? Hell no. The cycle begins again.

Only the very ending clip of Seinfeld was shown but the episode had them on trial in court. That allowed them to have witnesses called to the stand where the show was able to bring back many reoccurring and guest characters in the episode from throughout its entire history where the witnesses all corroborated that the main cast were terrible people. Also the very last dialogue from the last episode was also the very first dialogue from the very first episode.

Jayse and I are literally the same age. I was a Freshman when the year started (and my brother was a Senior) I was never a big movie watcher, but there was some fun music that year that still holds up. I remember watching the Finale of Seinfeld, it would probably be my favorite show now, it's my kinda humor. Last time I watch it was actually in 2000, I was on a mission trip in Mexico, and it was the only show on in English. Should have mentioned 3rd Rock from the Sun as well, it made it's debut in '97, HILARIOUS show! I remember the Heaven's Gate cult as well, you could tell that guy was nuts by his eyes. '97, a classic year. Remember it so well.

Anyone who didn't like the final episode of Seinfeld was probably going to complain no matter what they did.
It brought back every great character from the shows run allowing you to relive all the highlights and the convo in the cell was perfect. The conversation Jerry is having with George is the exact same conversation they were having in the beginning of the first episode. I thought it was brilliant.

harry potter was called the sorcerers stone in America because the publishers in America thought that philosopher's stone didn't sound exciting and magical enough to appeal to American kids, also they were concerned that kids wouldn't know what philosopher meant to the point they even shot the scenes in the movies twice using sorcerer's stone in one take and Philosopher's stone in the other just so American kids didn't get confused between the movie and the book.
A lot of streaming sites use the American title for movies so it can confuse people in the UK and Australia when the title is different to what they know/remember.
kind of funny as "The Philosopher's Stone" is supposed to be a legendary item from Alchemy that could essentially make something from nothing or turn lead to gold or make the elixir of life that made its drinker immortal, and it existed in fantasy and fiction stories long before Harry Potter was even a passing thought in J.K Rowling's head.

I had _both_ LeAnne Rimes and Shania Twain cassette tapes that I’d play on my teeny tiny cassette player (with the world’s smallest speaker) in my room after school-then I got a cd player…and my mom got me _both_ NOW & NOW2 where I was introduced to “rap” music and haven’t been much of a country girl since! 🤣🤣 Ohhh, good times! That was back when my big sister _actually_ wanted to talk to me… before she got “too cool” for me. 🤣🤣
Also, Kalilah and I are the _same_ age!

One of the biggest time capsule photos, to me, is the photo of a couple getting divorced and dividing their beanie baby collection in the courtroom as part of the settlement
The episode of Dark Side of the 90’s covers this craze very well and the lengths people went to get beanie babies thinking they would be valuable
