The author of Revelation wrote about "what must soon take place". It appears that Jesus and these writers who followed him were all mistaken in their expectations. Since they were unreliable in this area, makes it hard to believe the other stories... virgin birth, miracles, resurrection, etc. And if they were mistaken, seems a good chance today's believers are mistaken as well.
