nice video. mairsil is my favorite commander by far. i recommend: relic of legends. nuts in this deck, particularly when combined with aetherling. galecaster colossus: instant speed removal. trench behemoth and cinderhaze wretch: instant speed untap with minimal drawback. knacksaw clique: win condition combined with quicksilver elemental, and also works as untapper. bloodfire colossus: great boardwipe, and works well with endling. lastly, skywing aven. easy way to save mairsil from anything.
Great video, this would definitely be a fun deck, but it really requires brains to play, because it can get a little crazy. I mean, I'm already annoyed with how many lines of text some new cards have, and he basically says: "gimme more rules text." He's that kid who grew up playing pretend for too long and was ostracized for it. So instead he does it in the closet and that's why the cards are exiled, so nobody sees it. He's basically me.
Once you know the lines or get two pieces into the cage, you can start going ham on people. Imagine being able to do some of these things every turn. "Once per turn" isn't a limitation, it's a restriction. So then you find ways to do things on everyones turn. My favorite was Avatar of Woe and Eater of Woe to kill a creature then exile it. Or use Shaku and then use Cinderhaze Wretch to untap, letting you exile creatures without issue.
It's powerful but fairly linear. The alternate commander, Nazahn Revered Bladesmith was fun, and Hammer of Nazahn was in there. Some good stuff. My buddy T-Boi got the wizard deck and eventually put in an infinite. For me, that was the apex of the seasons of preconstructed decks.
@@bettercommander Nice! The wizards deck had some good pieces but lacked cohesion. Also, the cats deck had a third commander (I think they all had 3 possible ones), and I still kinda want to build Mirri. She is sweet! Of course, I would have to spend a bunch of money to get Mirri's guile (because how can she be without her guile) or just wait 30 minutes for it to get printed into the ground.
Been my favourite sense the precon dropped. As a heads up its hard to pilot and brings out some salt but strong as hell. Cheeky less combo cards like minion of leshrak and shaku the end bringer are still fun but lower salt
@@bettercommander it dawned on me because you listed them so close in proximity. I think Endling also would work. But yeah, Mairsil gets so convoluted because he has so many abilities it's easy to lose sight of a combo. I would definitely want some untappers in there in case I don't have haste with his blink to finish off that opponent.
Just thought of an easy infinite with him. Vhal, Candlekeep Researcher (one of my new faves) and Basalt Monolith. Infinite colorless mana, infinite untaps for your other tap abilities, so probably infinite grixis mana too.
Did a little less combo, since the idea for my deck was Mairsil Energy Voltron. I want to smack people down via Electrostatic Pummeler. Get a nice pool of energy. Get Unblockable off a Whirler Rogue, recast Pummeler with a caged Havengul Lich and go to town. I'm not interested in the comboing off per se, or the efficient destruction, so mostly skip those. Still, I like caging Commander's Sphere, Azami, or Arcanis for value. As well as caging RB Chainer for more recursion. Caging Steel Hellkite or Memnarch can be hilarious.
@@bettercommander It is. Earlier on I would also cage Bloodfire Colossus, and while amusing, that drew me more heat than I wanted and wasn't doing enough to dissuade people from attacking me. Separately, I wish I had more non-creature artifacts to cage. But can't have too many overlapping tap effects and my own deck needed cards that could have solid board presence. As cute as Mirage Mirror and such could be.

YOOOO Hell yeah brother! Thank you!!! This is excellent as always. Omegachad creator right here, folks. A man of the people.
I had nothing in the pipe, and Mairsil rocks. Great suggestion. It may not get a million views, but I am still goldfishing and refining the deck.

yeah well. Arahbo gives you a free giant growth every turn.
Big, hot muscly cats dude.
I bought all the decks and I did have a lot of fun with Arahbo

It does seem hard to pilot.
Oh and if you play this with a regular group of people be ready to see a lot more pithing needle, torpor orb, and sudden spoiling.
With Aetherling and tree of perdition, you can change your toughness and knock someone down to one
Hadn't thought of that.

only activate ONCE
@@TinyWiener I did miss the only once each turn. However, pair him with Deadeye Navigator and use haste enablers and that takes care of that.
And now i have a grixis deck i want to build.
Well, the decklist I put together isn't bad, but could use a little juice.
@@bettercommander how so? seems pretty spicy. with that many lines, tutors aren't necessary, just more card draw is guess.

Caging memnarch is a whole mood.
