=============================
One of the most challenging parts of any automation project is getting all of the devices to communicate with each other.
As many of you know, trying to get two devices from two different manufacturers to communicate can be the source of a lot of headaches and issues on an otherwise smooth project.
In this video, we will show you how easy it is to connect an RS PRO HMI to an S7-1200 or an S7-1500 PLC over an Ethernet network.
We will configure and program a PLC in TIA Portal, create and configure an HMI application in piStudio, and test the connection between the two devices.
- First, you will learn how to configure the PLC. This involves setting the IP address for the PLC on the same subnet as the HMI, allowing external devices to access the PLC's data, and enabling PUT/GET communication for communication between the PLC and HMI.
- Next, you will learn how to program the PLC. You will create a simple seal-in circuit using permissive and interlock conditions. Additionally, you will define tags for the project, including memory, global output, and global input tags.
Once the programming is complete, you will compile the project and download it to the PLC.
- Moving on to the HMI configuration, you will use piStudio, the development environment for RS Pro HMIs. You will create a new project and specify the IP address of the PLC that the HMI will communicate with. Furthermore, you will configure the IP address of the HMI itself.
- After configuring the HMI, you will build the HMI application. This involves adding objects, such as Bit Switches and Bit Lamps, to the HMI screen by dragging them from the toolbox.
You will configure these objects to read from and write to PLC tags, allowing control and visualization of the PLC's status. Additionally, you will add text labels to explain the functionality of the objects.
Once the HMI development is complete, you will compile the HMI application and download it to the HMI.
- Finally, you will test the communication between the PLC and HMI. You will interact with the HMI objects to verify their functionality and observe the changes in PLC tags and their corresponding visualizations on the HMI.
This will ensure that the communication between the PLC and HMI is working as expected.

Finally the practical video. Thank you, guys
You're very welcome!
Finally a hands on video thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Happy learning
you are the best ...thank you very much for this practical video..We appreciate your work🥰🥰
Glad to hear that! Thank you very much!
Very useful content, thank you RP!!
Our pleasure! Thanks for sharing.
nice explanation
Thank you very much! Happy learning
Very useful. Thanks.
Our pleasure!
Hi. Thank for your best trainig video's.
Please make video about creating web server for Plc(for example for s7 1200 or s7 1500 siemense plc)by web server and Html language programming we can controll and monitor a plc from all around the world by internet browser.
Thanks for your kind comment, Farzad! I will happily go ahead and forward your topic suggestion to our course developers. Thank you very much for sharing
We appreciate your reply upon this query, I look forward soon to be have vlog on this topic , inaddtion to that make a vlog how to integrate different manufacturers PLC with different HMI's using software packages such as Intellution IFIX,wonder ware and with Vtscada.
Very useful thanks
You're very welcome, happy learning!
Many thanks 👍👍👍👍
Our pleasure!
Do you know whether it is possible to open a hmi programme created in the rspro version of pistudio in the wecon version of pristudio. I have created a large project but decided to go for the origonal version of the hmi as its a third of the price but im worried i have to recreate the entire programme. Thanks
Hi Michael,
In this case, the best thing to do would be to reach out to Wecon or a local distributor. They will be able to advise if you need to anything to open your project in the Wecon version of PiStudio.
Thanks, just if anyone else has this issue, wecon were no help. However, I opened the project as a source file and deleted the -rs. When I opened the software, it then worked.
Great video sir keep it up, please can one use android phones to programme this?
Thank you for your comment!
To answer your question, no, for now, you need to use your PC for programming with these software tools.
Thanks.
You're very welcome!
Practical video with realpars it is best
Glad to hear that!
hi.....is it possible to create a csv file on a pc with just the plc?
Hi Rivuzza,
I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking about creating a CSV file containing the PLC's data without using TIA Portal? What data do you want to have in the CSV file?
@@realpars
I would like the csv file to contain
Example
Alarm list.
Whenever there is an alarm the plc fill in the ..
Engine 1 alarm 25/05/2023 08:46
Fan 5 alarm 05/25/2023 11:10..
No without tia but withtout scada or hmi ...only plc
Can you do a video about programming a SINEAX V604S? THANKS 👍
Thanks for your topic suggestion, I will happily go ahead and forward this to our course developers.
Happy learning!
Isn't that a Weintek hmi? :) cause its way too similar :)
Pls give a new video about all type of siemens plc, hmi, computer communication cable.
Thanks for your feedback and topic suggestion! I will happily go ahead and share this with our course developers.
Happy learning!
even the software of the HMI is extremly similar to EBpro
Funny. From my experience as IT staff, the point where to put an IP address within one subnet had to be entered, most plc programmers sent by big companies be like: WHAT?
😅😂❤❤❤🎉😅
