CB750 - how to install new points & condensers & set ignition timing Ep.11

- Now I know we will be fitting a Dyna electronic ignition system to this bike but whilst it's still got the original contact breaker setup now is a perfect time to run through the correct procedure to replace the ignition points, condensers & how to re-adjust the ignition timing so it's spot on.
The art of installing 'points' is a dying art for sure, many have never seen such an odd electro-mechanical concoction let alone know how to service it! So, I felt it a great idea to get this info up on the 'Tube' before even I forget how to do it!
The next video in this Series will cover the conversion to Electronic ignition so keep your eyes open for than one...
Enjoy
Andy

Thanks for taking the time and patience to do this step by step and not make assumptions on the knowledge of the viewer....A gold standard 'how-to' video- Many thanks!
Honda C70 owner here (cub owner for non US viewers), and this is the best timing video on youtube bar none.
Thanks Matey, much appreciated. Cheers & ride safe. Andy
Excellent video.
There are many good vids on this, but yours is by far the most complete and precise one i've seen. And great camera work as well.
Thank you for this👍
Cheers Rob :-)
Best video by far! I have a 79 Suzuki GS850 with matching identical condenser system. This video helped out tremendously!!! Working on this bike a fall project here in Michigan! Thank you so much!!
An excellent, step-by-step work process- Greatly appreciated!
I know this video is for a Honda but the explanation of how to make these adjustments helped me to understand how to set the points & timing on my Z650B2 for which I struggled to find a good video. Having watched your subsequent video, I am now considering a Dyna S update. Thanks for explaining things so clearly!
Well done! Great closeup camera work!
Come across this video tonight, looking at changing the points on my 1974 Yamaha DT175, this has been so helpful, thanks Andy for making such a great vid, and explaining so well.
No problem Richie, appreciate your feedback & good luck with the job - cool bike by the way :-)
Cheers Andy
Very informative video, love your channel
nice refresher coarse andy it must be 40 yrs since i last did this routine. good job thanks.
by far one of the best point and timing vids on you tube andy , i like dry dry graphite spray on the heal
Your instructions with great close up video made this job, that had me a bit bluffed, turn out to be a great success. I can't thank you enough. Very Happy.
That great news, it's really satisfying to know the videos are of help & I really appreciate your feedback. Thanks again. Andy
Helped loads this vid! thanks a bunch!
I find these vids so therapeutic.
Such a great video and so detailed! Terrific camera work! Got my 76 cb750f up and running great. Thanks for making and sharing
I haven't set points and timing since the 1980's and back then, I was using feeler gauges, a dwell meter and a timing light. That was a great video. Cheers.
Thanks Connor :-)
Awesome Andy!!! Been waiting for it to fire up!! 👍👍 sounds good. Could tell all 4 fired properly right off the bat!
Love the light method. Awesome video very helpful.
Very nice video ,, thanks,, thanks 4 sharing!!!
Well I better get to ordering parts. Same issue with slow starts and only running on 2 or 3 cylinders at time on cold starts for a minute or two requiring constant fuel feed to keep it alive. However my solenoid is shot since purchased so it only takes two kicks cold. I'd be more inclined to replace the solenoid and use the electric start other than the previous owner telling me the exact story your client did and even the use of ether. Spot on video. Best I've ever seen. Keep it up please.
Nice work Andy ... very intriguing ,, Sad i know but it took me back to the good old days of setting points on my first car , Renault 5 so damn easy
Great opening shots.
Bike info is good too
It's alive! Would be interesting to go back now and measure voltage drops and compare to before.
Great video Andy, helped heaps. Very clear explanation 👍🏻
Thanks Sam :-)
Very helpful - thanks !
Great video, thanks!
Excellent explanation and camera work. Best one I have seen. New susciber here.
Complimenti semplice e chiaro, mi è servito per regolare il mio kz440ltd....le giapponesi si somigliano tutte
Q.bien explicado gracias.
Nice video , Can I ask where you got the wiring harness
Good Day Sir, i'm doing points/ condenser on a 1976 Kawasaki 900, i would believe same procédures as the Honda shown here, even know theyre not identical, it's the same Idea??? Thank you From Canada.
Andy, what kind of oil should I be using on the little felt piece on my Triumph points? (This is a great points video by the way. Very informative the way you shot it and explained everything.)
Where did you buy the small tool to tighten the screws?
What if your test light stays on constantly
Good work showing the marks. Looks awfully fiddly. Hope I never have to do it.
