This is very beautiful and I believe it's always worth restoring old instruments whenever possible. They are pieces of history and were built to be played and enjoyed. And lest we forget we will all grow old and need sometimes considerable TLC to remain relevant, alive and productive. Hats off to the piano tech Giorgio Paoluzzi for such fine work and Bravo to you and your wife for seeing the potential and making the effort. BRAVO indeed!👍👍👏👏👏👏👏

I think it’s great that this piano stills sounds great without a full rebuild. Thanks for uploading!

My son grew up learning on our 1854 London Erard. I was constantly having to make pieces for it because the wood had become brittle and could not withstand daily practice of Rachmaninov or MacDowell or Liszt. Eventually we sold it and acquired a more modern Broadwood (1901), but we still miss the tone of the Erard.

My church has an 1860s Checkering concert grand, not in the best shape of course, and the pastor wants me to have it! I already have 3 pianos and a reed organ not to mention around 1,000 piano rolls. Maybe someday….
