Many thanks, James. In case anybody's interested in such trifling pedantic technicalities, this piece of music, played entirely in the key of B flat, has two themes. Theme A is 20 bars (measures) in length and lends itself to breaks on bars 13 to 16. Theme B consists of 16 bars. Theme B is played only twice; Theme A seven times: 00:08 INTRODUCTION 00:14 THEME A played ensemble 00:39 THEME B - note how it ends on the chord of F7, leading perfectly back into Theme A 00:59 THEME A beautifully played as a solo by Shaye [including the break from 01:14] 01:24 THEME A taken as a solo by Craig, choosing to keep close to the melody [and with the break at 01:40] 01:50 THEME A taken as a solo by Barnabus [with the break at 02:05] 02:15 THEME A played ensemble [with the break and subsequent 4 bars taken by Todd] 02:40 THEME B following a hand-signal from Shaye, we return to this theme 03:02 THEME A following a hand-on-head signal from Shaye, Molly takes us back to theme A, with pretty improvising over the chords [most audible at the break from 03:17] 03:26 THEME A played ensemble to round off [with Craig and Shaye taking two bars each of the break from 03:42] 03:49 CODA The fun coda, conventionally used to round off this piece and going right back to the recording by King Oliver and his Dixie Syncopators in 1926.
PopsCoffee, Thank you SO much for taking the time to share this, I found it so interesting! My 85 year darling dad ( who plays the piano, trumpet and violin introduced me to the tunes of Tuba Skinny at least 8 years ago) will really love it too. Have a good day 😊
@@leahcoppinger8770 Thanks for the kind words, Leah. I'm also 85 and used to play the trumpet at a fairly basic level. Perhaps your Dad and I should attempt a geriatric duet!
Merci James 🙏 Encore une excellente vidéo de cette session du 29 février! Une très bonne manière de commencer ce week-end que je vous souhaite le meilleur possible! 😄
Marvelous. 🎉 Thank you so much for another awesome video James. A great tune. The Shake Em Up Jazz Band played it too and recorded it on their last album "Summer Selections". Best wishes to you. Dave 🫶
