Great video! Number 12 is my favorite, I like the big foot chicks the trash cymbal produces and the crunchiness (?) of the cymbals working together. I‘ll play around with this idea as well!
Morgane Gautier 3 was my favourite but i’m coming round to 1. Agree with you on number 11, the trash crash works great in any combo for the hip hop sound.
DavidBcg thanks for checking it out! The only downside of having the trash on bottom is the cymbal can flex when you step the hi hat, might be best as an x hat instead!
So what’s the common theme for a good hi hat setup? Is thin/light on top with thicker/heavier on bottom the basic go to? I’ve got a 16” k dark med/thin and need to find another 16 for either too or btm.
Yeah I believe that is the standard choice as far as weights are concerned. I’ve also heard of people doing the opposite and enjoying that too so whatever works for you!

Thanks Jamie the trash crash definitely brings the crunch!
great and inspiring idea. would love to hear a meinl extra dry cymbal in those configurations
#1 for a regular context
And #11 as a crazy hiphop one

@@thejamman555 Boom Bap yo!
I liked two sets no. 10 and 12. Love it when I need to hear the Hi-Hats speaking out.
Great Vid!
Thanks!
Sounds awesome!
Great video, mate. keep it up!👍
Thank you Carl!
Hi-hats aside, I love the sound of your kit.
me_high_low27 Thank you really appreciate the kind words! What was your favourite Hi-hat?
@@thejamman555#4 was definitely my favorite - nice, bright ˝closed chic˝ that opens up nicely to gain a huge presence without undesirable overtones.
me_high_low27 great description! I would agree that it has a clean crisp modern sound.
4! Nice video dude! Big hats its a interesting thing in drumming (under 17’ of course😬)
Thanks Roman!
lots of nice combos here, hard to choose! 1/6/7/9 sounded really good. I also found the trash cymbal sounded better when as a bottom cymbal.

What kind of mics are you using
Thin or medium?
