- The choir at Central Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Chelmsford, MA performs the sacred Easter cantata No Greater Love by J. Peterson under the music direction of Francisco Fernandez.
Thank you very much for posting this cantata which I first 30 years ago when someone from the church presented a recording of this in cassette tape! Now am I glad to hear it again! I’ve also posted this cantata to some of my close friends! I just love it esp when various portions of the KJV scripture is used in this presentation! Love it! Brilliant! Praise God & thank you so very much!
Wow. I just came across this video accidentally. This brings chills. I would attend some of the practices for this Cantata with my Dad in the 80s in Trinidad. I was 7 yrs old.
I sang this song also in the year 1980,: I was 15 years at that time, so you can imagine how long this was , I was singing it of what I could remember I desire to look it up , and praise God I found it.❤❤❤❤❤, thank you for these wonderful memories of my teenage years singing in the Choir in the Beautiful Island of Curaçao Netherlands Antilles.

Our church sang several of John W. Peterson's cantatas in the 60's. My father was the choir director and my sister was the pianist. (I was her page-turner until I was old enough to sing in the choir.) My favorite part of this cantata was (and is) the duet, 'Come Unto Me'.
Another favorite is His wonderful look of love. I get teary eyed every time. 😢
Great memories were stirred as I watched and listened. I’m 61 now, so it’s been a long time since I was the 9 year old page turner for the piano player (Valerie Bassett) at 1st Baptist Church of Bay City when they first did this cantata. One I recall comes from Christ’s crucifixion. I was quite troubled by the sight of Mrs Bassett’s tears so I whispered, “What’s wrong?” Mrs Bassett continued playing and softly replied, “He’s just so beautiful.” In that moment my faith was deepened. Thank you for keeping this music-and the sweet memories it brings-alive!
I have been looking for YEARS to find this cantata.... we sang it back in the 1980s.... and I remember a young man and I use to LOVE the song, Come Unto Me..... and we would smile EVERY TIME it was time to sing it. We sang it as a choir and not a duet.... thank you SO MUCH for this. I am reposting it on my facebook!!

thought about this great cantata and was able to find this -- -- As of now -everyone is in quarantine due to the corona virus and are not able to worship as we would normally would -So thankyou for this great performance and wonderful and meaningful music . We are all needing this at this time!

THursday before Pentecost. I’m so surprised that I found this. My Methodist Church back in Memphis did this in the early 1970’s. I sang tenor at that time. So many memories

Greetings....thank you....thank you...it was just the other day I was singing one of the songs and playing it from memory...from what year you say?...1981...our church did this full Cantata...wow...I can’t believe that I found this....brings back so many memories in my Nova Scotia Canada Evangelical Church....thank you....I haven’t stopped listening to this....blessings

This one ok, I sang in it twice as a bass and as a tenor. But I have a cantata far better that this one called “The Great Redemption: A Sacred Cantata” by Carl A Johnson sang by The Los Angeles Christian Center Choir...100 voices strong in SATB! It was AWESOME!
