I’m definitely hoping to start working on this thing very soon! Had a lot going on lately so I haven’t touched it since the first run but I’m itching to get more time with it.
I just drove mine for the first time yesterday, and it's a blast. It's faster (with a 3S battery) than I was expecting, and it was a ton of fun to send through the snow. Now I need to lift it and get some beefier tires under there.
Definitely do some upgrades for this thing, love what you do would be cool to see you build this thing. I love my Jeep willys and I’ve been eye balling this hard.
I lifted mine as soon as I pulled it out and threw some beefy tires on. Holy hell it does amazing and managed to do a 3 miles trail for its first voyage!
I’ve seen some folks mount the leafs on the top of the axles and put fatter wheels on. Whenever it is that I’m able to get one that’s what I’ll do. I’ve heard they basically don’t need anything else.
Maybe just for gits and shiggles, be interesting if you could slap some of the 3M VHB tape to cover the esc. See if that dampens the whine. Sorta like scale Dyna Mat.
Cool. And I fully get it! I didn't really "get" the whole crawler thing for a while, and was focused more on the faster, basher style stuff. Then I bought my first crawler and was like, "Oh, ok, the challenge of clearing obstacles is FUN!" Then, I was all about performance of a different type, and didn't "get" the scale thing, thinking, "Why would anyone be interested in Class 1 when they're so limited in ability?" Then, I bought my FMS 1941 MB Scaler, and was blown away with the scale detail! Next, I realized that it's all about perspective... Keeping scale in perspective, and attempting obstacles that are actually scale realistic, is just as challenging, and just as fun to me. I mean, think about it... How many 1:1 rigs can make, or even attempt, the types of obstacles that highly modified "cheater" class RC rigs yawn at? When was the last time you saw a modified off-road rig based on a '49 Power Wagon, scaling a 52 degree vertical rock face, or crawling over boulders five times the size of the truck itself? Keep it real, and it's still just as challenging and fun, IMO. Don't put away your competition rigs, but rather just enjoy it as another fun aspect of our hobby. BTW, The MB Scaler does have a better suspension setup than the Jimny. It's not as scale because it uses coil over shocks instead of leaf springs, so for ultimate scale, it is missing that part. But for me, it's a really good trade-off because unless you really LOOK, you don't see that it doesn't have leaf springs, but it does perform MUCH better. Check out Kisun's RC Life for some exceptional videos on his 1/6 scale Willys Jeeps. Good stuff!
I totally agree! I was in the hobby for yrs before I got a crawler. I loved the track and jumping and I always thought “why would anyone wanna go that slow?” Then I finally bought one and I was hooked! This hobby is just the greatest! It’s changed my life in many ways and I just enjoy being a part of it and hopefully giving back a bit of all the great things I’ve received from it so far! I’ll definitely check out those vids!
That's pretty neat, I like that it has leaf springs. Definitely needs some customization and a paint job though cause it still looks too much like a cheap Barbie jeep especially with Ken sitting in there haha I've always wanted a 1/6 XJ so I can make it look like mine 😎 A Comanche would be cool too if they make a bed shell for it...
Just did the survey, Jeep Comanche would be awesome. I was looking at this Jimny and the MB Scaler today too. I think the 1/12 MB Scaler with the machine gun is calling me.
Pretty cool but I think your roll cage is on backwards ☺️ Put a bobblehead German shepherd as a driver lol. He bumped it out of gear and now he's driving l🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😂
Haha! That would be awesome! Yeah I was waiting for someone to notice the roll cage. Sort of an Easter egg but already had someone mention it. I did notice just after I installed it but thought I’d see if anyone was paying attention lol
I’m glad Fms is doing you good you been a day 1 supporter and probably #1 in the community! I always see ur posts in the fb group. Keep it up 2fm life!
They once asked for suggestions on FB and I told them to make an FJ40 with the front axle forward where it’s supposed to be because not even RC4WD get that right. And do it so you can convert it to links if one wants to. A lot of folks liked the comment. God only knows if they’ll run with It tho
Y'all should check out the Axial 1/6 torture test on Berm Peak channel; he sits on top of it while towing a UTV... it's insane. How much weight can the FMS handle?
Totally different trucks. I have both. The axial is huge compared to the fms and cost 5 times more 😆. Way heavier and honestly not as much fun for me. I did tow my golf cart with my scx6 though! That was one of the 3 times I’ve drove it in the last 9 months.
@@2fmrc I'm looking into getting my first RC crawler but the big decision for me seems to be weight; I just really like the way the heavy rigs behave compared to how lighter ones seem to bounce around unnaturally. Is it common to add weights or even a metal chassis to get this effect? Or would that compromise the drivetrain parts too much. I'm interested to hear why the heavy Axial wasn't as fun for you!
@@RavenRedwood It’s really more of the fact that no one else has one around me and everyone runs 1/10s. So the scx6 just don’t fit in with those rigs. I like to hill climb and stuff with them and the super heavy weight of the scx6 is not good when it rolls lol. Lots of weight to come tumbling down a hill.
i pulled the plug on one finally a few days ago after discovering fms way back and they just released this at that time and i was hooked on the size alone, i love larger sized rc... a pure dream would be a scx6... but thats way out of my league
My Jimny arrived with a broken spare tyre. When i mentioned it on a facebook group they said that it was pretty standard for the spare to arrive broken. I've fixed mine but i'm sure it will break off as soon as the car tips? I've just started with mine but it will be a journey of constant upgrades until i'm happy. I've already lifted the suspension and altered the steering . It is on standard wheels and tyres until i buy 1.9s or 2.2s and then i'll be upgrading the electronics
The fcx24 esc/receiver is also! I’ve tried the noble,g7p and gt5 with no luck lol. The g7p even has a setting for binding with all in one esc/receiver combos but it still wouldn’t 🤷🏻♂️
Can’t seem to find anywhere on any video if this model if it has locked differentials or full differential. Would be deeply appreciated if someone chimed in to see if it has differentials in the front and rear axles. Thank you so much.
Yeah I was waiting to see who got it first! I pinned the first comment about it I seen. Didn’t notice till I got it all the way on. Decided to see who was paying attention 😆
I really feel like FMS is on the upswing. I know people will say things about the quality and support, especially with the FCX24 vs SCX24 stuff out now. The reality is what you said before is true: It's good for us to have competition on the market, and on top of that, once we see that a company like FMS is putting their best foot forward, and we support that, the more great stuff they can afford to bring out for us, so I'm all for investing into a company that is doing a good job at bringing us quality products that we are asking for.
Lose the roll bar. Chop the windshield. Axles underneath of the leafs. 1080 ESC. Done! PS: never understood why the Asian's like their mirror way up front? Granted I'm old and my vision isn't what it used to be lol.
Greater view of the side of the car and sticks out less on narrow roads. And, I believe, it was a hold over from back before the glass was convex, so they didn't have the 'wide view' of modern mirrors. 👍
Looks like the roll bar is backwards.
I was wondering if anyone would call that out! Shoot me an email @2fastmattracing@gmail.com and I got something for ya!
I was going to write that but you was first
@@2fmrc 🤣🤣🤣 Rewards for getting busted! You rock Matt! 👍🤘
@@wingnutbert9685 hey I’m always doing stupid stuff. Need someone to keep me in line 😆 It’s like little Easter eggs in my videos lol
Does look super cool, but yeah rollbar backwards. Appreciate you sharing Matt. A trailer to pull behind would be awesome, will catch on the next one
Put the leaf springs on the top of the axle shafts instead of the bottom, then you can install better tires if you want Matt.

Excellent review. My driver is a 1/6th scale figure from Dragon.
I totally read the title wrong and thought this was 16th scale. Still really cool. Trying to get into crawlers if I can find a way to earn some money.

I picked a 1/24 Silverado 😎Awesome content Buddy

i wonder how one of these would do with the same electrics as my scx10 deadbolt

I like the Willys better personally. Little more clearance on it which makes it crawl better. Looks better imo. Same electronics between them.
