Fiber Optic Haunt Sign: DIY Halloween Yard Haunt 2019

- Well after almost a decade we finally named our Chaos and commemorated that occasion by building our Yard Haunt Sign. My husband and I were a bit obsessed with the fiber optic Hollywood Tower of Terror Sign that resides out in front of the FL MGM studios park. We wanted to pay homage to the original while putting our own spin on it. We proudly introduce “TERROR ON TULIP TRAIL”
We aren’t finished with the timing or sound effects but are pretty pleased that the concept actually worked. Hope everyone is getting ready!

@@SuperTonkers Hey Guys!!!! I sold Hawthorne Manor Haunted House (The Town of Ballinger, TX bought the cemetery for their event). I'm closing on a new house... and it has a big front yard... 'just sayin. Once a haunter, always a haunter. I may have to make it down your way this year to see Forest Oaks, I mean Terror on Tulip Trail in person.
Hawthorne Manor Haunted House oh that’s such great news! I’m so glad to hear things are on the upswing and your closing on your new home! How exciting! Things always work out. Just not always as quickly as we had hoped.
This is our 5th home and every time we hunt the “yard space” is always top on the list... while others look for smart homes and on suite bathrooms we look for extra plugs in the garage and will our cemetery fit...😂😂 ALWAYS A HAUNTER! How fun to begin the design process again. Let us know if we can help with anything.
Finally named the Haunt! 😂 after 11 years. Not quite as fleshed out and amazing as Hawthorne Manor and the Backstory but we trying over here. Your welcome anytime and it would be great to see you! I’ll shoot you a message and our address. Need to do a Texas Haunters meet up sometime and get everyone together!
@@SuperTonkers I showed my daughter your video, looked at her, and said "I shouldn't have sold the cemetery". Cool, I would love to come down. I also have family in the area. Then I'll drive to Ballinger to see my old cemetery.
Above all, the backstory and overall theme was my greatest strength. As soon as I had that, everything just fell into place. In the dark, it looked like it belonged there. If that makes sense. I miss it. A lot. Ahhh, maybe again one day. Ok, maybe not maybe.

How goes your Haunt build?
@@SuperTonkers Good. I'm in the planning stages, but I'm doing a laser swamp this year. So, it's a much edited version of haunts in the past, but I'm building some new props etc. I just wanted to do something completely different to keep it interesting.

Zombie Haunter we are 15 min North of Austin in the Cedar Park, TX. If it’s October we will definitely have most of our stuff up lol would be great to see ya if you had the time!

@@SuperTonkers Blink Blink.... Thank you! But I am always learning from others in the community - so I feel like a complete amateur when I see everyone else's projects! I am a tech nerd I suppose... but the artistic side of haunting still eludes me.
I really don't know how or if I would improve on your sign. It is quite excellent - I am jealous. Jay and I are already thinking of how to make one for the haunt next year - what name to display in stone and what to have in fiber optics. And oh yes! I don't think I've ever had a project that was cheaper than expected! LOL

As for Halloween prep, it's been slow going thus far, but we're finally picking up steam now. Seeing things like your sign will really help with the motivation factor, too
Revenant Manor glad to hear things are picking up! We were slow to get moving as well. I too love the wave of Halloween creativity that washes over UA-cam at the end of August. Seeing all the other Haunters gearing up is always motivating. I find myself always wanting to add 3-5 projects to the list 😂 can’t wait to see what y’all got cooking in the cauldron!

Sandric Cemetery our summer was hot and seemed to fly by as well. Ready for the cooler weather for sure! We were a little slow to get our Halloween stuff started but now in full build mode. The sign took much longer than expected so our project list got chopped in half but we all know that’s a daily struggle for Haunters. What we want to build vs how much time we actually have. Can’t wait to see what y’all got brewing! The Creature turned out 👌 very very nice. Love it

@@SuperTonkers Been good. Just got back from a California to visit family. Saw a Skeleton in Costco and Dad said, "You want it?" I said, "I really don't have the space..." it went tin the cart and came home with me. Good thing I drove and didn't fly. I would have had to buy it a seat...

Natalie Buckey thank you! This one was certainly a challenge. We have seen another version of the Hollywood Terror Sign done for a wedding which inspired us to go for it. 2,700 individual fibers punched, threaded, glued and cut... 😂😂 definitely asked myself “why did I even start this?!”

Off topic question: Do you feel you get a good ROI for your amazing lighting? I live just a couple hundred miles north of you, so we have similar sunset times. Every year I think I need to up my lighting game. Every year I fail to do it. Then Halloween comes. I get my first trick or treater at about 5:30, traffic really picks up at 6:00, almost all of the trick or treaters come before 7:30, and then it gets dark. Perhaps your neighborhood is different. I am left thinking, why should I bother with lighting when there is too much sunlight for anyone to notice? This is especially true since 2007 when daylight savings time was extended into November.
juliettehotel In most neighborhoods people go trick r treating at 8:00 and end at like 10:00.

Yeah I see what going on with his channel right now because high-budget efforts to make these props like during the spring/summer season but you have to wait till he posts his full video on the 31st of October cause it not even Halloween yet

Hey! We are located North of Austin in Cedar Park. We don’t typically give out our address but have given it to a few people in the area closer to the holidays.
Unfortunately we will be Dark for 2020 Halloween season given the circumstances. Still haven’t decided about our Christmas show but as of now it’s still on. Hope your staying safe, sane and cool in this TX heat lol
Our kids are older and I want to get away from blow ups and move on to lighting for the holidays. Looking on here for great tips and tricks.
