Bobbin Winder Servicing Tutorial for the Singer Featherweight 221 222

Do you have to hold the bobbin winder down on your Singer Featherweight in order to get it to wind? If so, then the washers around the bobbin winder screw either need replaced or turned around. Follow this simple servicing tutorial for smoother bobbin winding!

Just tonight am using my Featherweight for the first time. Already I got the thread stuck behind the bobbin in the bobbin case holder . . . BUT I found your video and followed your instructions to the tee - and it sews beautifully again! THEN I decided to wind a bobbin - and it wouldn't wind! And then I found THIS video! One drop of oil and it was winding the bobbin beautifully! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH! Rather than feeling frustrated, I feel empowered because I've been able to fix 2 issues on my own . . . WITH the help of your tutorials! PRICELESS!

Thank God for the featherweight shop.. Even though I serviced my machine according to your videos when I first inherited it, I must have missed oiling the bobbin arm! Oiled it just now and it works like a dream, especially with a little pressure added. I'm going to check out the condition of that washer as well, but I got a huge improvement already. Your videos and parts have been so so helpful - I love my featherweight and I doubt she'd be running as nicely as she does without your help.

Hmmm...the washer in my bobbin winder is not cupped at all, completely flat! Could this be contributing to my bobbin winding issues? Even after adjusting the hand wheel/stop motion per your video, the needle still moves up and down while winding. Thank you for all the videos! I am a brand new owner and have lots to learn!

When I try to disengage the balance wheel the needle bar still moves up and down. What’s the troubleshooting to do for something like this?
