I was 15 when I bought “All Things Must Pass.” I could not stop listening to it.. I have all of the Beatle solo records, and still, I have to say, ATMP is the best..it is a wonder of a record, and you, Bobby Whitlock, God bless you ... you made this happen ... I thank you for your music, you, and all the love ...
Great American artist from the southern heartland where American roots blues and country music is born. His contributions to music with some of the masters will be remembered forever. It would be great to see him and his lovely wife perform live in the future.😎🤘These interviews are informative, insightful & inspirational !!!! It's great to now be able to connect the real person behind some of this great music. Johnny G.
The Layla album is firmly within my heart.I remember the 1st time I heard Have You Ever Loved a Woman, about 50 years ago.Clapton kept pointing the way back to the bluesmen who created this music, and I have been listening ever since. From early New Orleans jazz to BB King, and all points in between.
I’ve watched quite a few of your recollections over the last few days & although you have doubt enriched my life beyond measure over many years, yet despite you’re assured status as “Legend” you seem like such a beautifully humble human being. Faith in humanity restored. Thank you.
Hi Bobby & CoCo. I'm from Surrey in England and know many of the places you talk about. I used to live in Weybridge, and had a friend who lived in St. Georges Hills. I'm fascinated by your story and absolutely love all of your videos. CoCo sounds super cool too, it would be great to hear some of her life story too.
The music business.....ruthless. People I admire....Neil Young, The Rolling Stones....I could go on and on, seem to be very ruthless with other people at times. I know after playing for 40 years in NYC....I personally couldn't live with myself screwing over people. Maybe that's why I'm not a "professional" musician anymore....or maybe I just wasn't good enough.....who cares.....my point is that Bobby appears to be a sensitive, giving person/like Clapton....I'm just happy to have been able to play music....success or no success...happy to be alive and happy at 62...many of my peers/friends/band members didn't make it....just lost another 2 months ago to booze......really admire you and love your channel.....peace
At 7:41, Eric "getting the call from George to be on the album" of All Things Must Pass. Also, Bobby dating Patty's sister Paula and "living at George's place for a while"
Talking about George, he would pop into the Highwayman pub in Woodcote just off the A4074. It’s about 5.3 miles west of Friar Park. Do u remember hanging out there with him Bobby? I ask since we would frequent that “watering hole” as schoolboys come our 18th birthday.
I had to go back and watch, from the beginning, all of your videos. I haven't quite made it to all of them but, I will. I can tell you this, Bobby talks just like me. Lol. I'm from Mississippi, he must be from here also. I grew up on this music and thoroughly enjoy all Bobbys stories. Thank you!!
So that's one thing I had in common with Bobby; we both lived in Chertsey at some point in our lives. Fortunately (for me) my house didn't burn down. Unfortunately (for me) I never had a Ferrari. Great story, yet again.
I'm Mystified. Bobby Whitlock mentions at 1:27 being at Hurtwood Edge for nearly a year and seeing a big wooden trunk full of records. Hurtwood Edge has been owned by Eric Clapton for years. George Harrison lived on the Claremont Estate near Esher in Kinfauns, before buying Friars Park. Can anyone throw light on this?
The way I heard it, he was staying with Eric at Hurtwood Edge for a year before he moved in with George at Friar Park. It was at Hurtwood Edge that he discovered Eric’s blues record collection. He says he discovered them after Cream because that’s when he was staying there, but Eric would have had those records since the mid 60s. Funnily enough a Clapton biography I read contained an anecdote about Eric discovering the collection of blues records owned by George Harrison when they first became friends. He ‘borrowed’ many of them which were apparently never returned to George, much to his frustration! I would bet that many of the rare and old records discovered by Bobby at Eric’s house were actually originally George’s.
Sorry I should have said Clapton had the records since the early 60’s. That would be my best guess, particularly as he first met George around that time. I remember him being quoted as saying he had never seen such a treasure trove of rare blues records, as that which George had amassed. He couldn’t help himself! I’m not saying they were all ‘borrowed’ from the collection of George, but I reckon a big chunk were.
I am now starting to go back to the start of these videos from the start now Bobby and CoCo. Things are now getting more clear to me. You come into this say with the 120th video you have missed out of much. Sad way you got done by Stigwood. What a petty man. Then you mention you wound up in Aarhus Denmark which oddly enough was where I wound up myself for 6 months one time. Not sure how that came to be but it was a great place to hang out
Bobby, Sad you never mentioned Eric's girlfriend Alice Ormsby-Gore. She's sadly a forgotten piece of the History surrounding that early scene at Hurtwood Edge. Think she ended up pretty destitute and died of a Heroin overdose in a rooming house in Bournemouth U.K a few years back. Anyways, thanks for the quality music man.
@@BW-CC Thank you both kindly. I appreciate your reply. She was apparently a very young..but bubbly enigmatic girl whom I believe.at the least, deserves a song dedicated to her memory. That would be so nice. As, out of it all. She must have suffered tremendously. out on her own. I knew 'Rick's' grandma Rose by the way, who lived in Shamley Green - then back in Church Row, Ripley. Wonderful down to earth lady. I always leave flowers for her whenever I pass through Ripley. So, thanks again Bobby & Coco. I learned a lot..especially in humility ! from your wonderful uploads. Keep on growing !
I hate to toot my own horn but I knew that bobby was talking post cream when the lady doing the interview thought it was pre. Broke my arm patting my self on the back. I was wondering if he had a cat too. I've read that Eric built model aircraft from balsa wood in his spare time. A lost art.
My 9th grade history teacher at Fulmore Jr. High on S. Congress Ave. back in 1967 made it a point to play Leadbelly blue records for the class but he got laughed down by all the kids in the class. I never hear Leadbelly mentioned, is he considered a minor talent in blues music?
Ironic that UK immigration wouldn't let Bobby back into the country even though he was a property owner and had a history of working in entertainment.....today, if he had crossed the channel in a rubber dinghy they would have welcomed him with open arms and put him up in a 4 star hotel, given him spending money, medical care, and food! How things change but NOT for the better!

Do you realize how evil that act of Stigwood's was? Say Bobby had changed his view in the ensuing ten years on being a supporting musician - if only for, say, a single tour, perhaps prompted by a substantial offer from Eric Clapton of a million bucks to play on a world tour. Bobby would have had no choice but to decline and be out that money.
