I love how Enzo Ferrari takes his hat off to Miles to show him some respect. Gets me every time. That's what sport is about.
As nice of a moment as it is, it's entirely fictional. In reality Enzo was not at the race at all.
Yup, but it's good fiction. Fits perfectly into a sports movie.
@@ProclarushTaonas He was supposedly an asshole right?
@@GermanDaniel There is an aspect of truth. Coming from someone who has raced for many years. Some of the people who on track who I have raced the hardest are the ones I would give the most respect to off. There is a for lack of better terms a brotherhood between drivers
Good Hollywood, but Enzo wasn't at the 66' race. He was at the 65' race, if I had to guess he was not up for going with Surtees leaving but that's just a guess
Carol Shelby said in many interviews that the single greatest regret of his life was asking Ken to agree to the staged finish for that race.
Yep, this is true. Ken was robbed by 8 meters. He would have been the only man to win the trifecta, Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans all in the one year. He not only lost the race, but he lost his rightful place in History. And yes, he did die with his son watching. Sometimes, life robs us and there is no justice.
But I would say life does sometimes comes back to even the books. Ken Miles has a movie dedicated to his story with countless millions more (outside of the racing sphere) knowing who he is. Him, his son, his wife and his story are now immortalised in film. I'd say that's some good compensation.
These are the rules of Le Mans, the winner is not the one who arrived first, but the one who drove the longest distance, and so yes Ford took the victory from Ken, but they discussed it in advance, before Ken got behind the wheel, and in reality he did not try to leave the other riders, and without hesitation was a team player.
Oh so true. But you forget, Ken is a racing God because he was one of the all time greatest, & we know he was robbed
at least he still got the hall of fame, but still never lived to see it
That’s why Ford sucks
22:13 fun fact... most of the actors lined up here making the sprint to the cars are the sons and grandsons of the actual drivers who participated in this race!!
“They’re changing the brakes? It took Les Schwab 2 days to change my brakes!” You’re awesome!
thats racing for you
Can you imagine how efficient the world would be be everything were run by pit crews and roadie’s
also take into account the way the cars are built to be worked on. Audi hold the world record for a gearbox change at 8 minutes. The car is built to be taken apart rapidly and thrown back together even quicker
It took a shop 2 whole days to change brake rotors and brake pads on your car? I can change all 4 sets in my garage in under 2 hours. If I have to change calipers it'll take about 5 hours mainly due to bleeding the brakes.
Modern cars are designed to be easier to service and a good shop that does them often enough can knock out a complete rebuild of your brakes in just a couple hours.
The championship winning pit stop in Sunday’s NASCAR race was 11.8 seconds. They changed 4, 5-lug tires and filled the tank with fuel.
Carrol Shelby was one of the nation’s longest-living heart transplant recipients, having received a heart in 1990, which kept him going strong until he died in 2012 at 89 years old.
Wow. Thanks for that info, as I had no idea!
It was the Chili that kept him alive.
gotta think it was his will that made that new heart keep going. he, just like Ken, was a force of nature.
Carroll's wiki page... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carroll_Shelby
And Ken Miles died at the age of 47
Some Interesting facts about Ken Miles:
He did his first race age 11 on a 350 cc Triumph bike.
He first met Mollie when he was 15 after meeting her he turn to a friend and said "I'm going to marry that girl".
He also built his first car at age 15, an Austin 7 and Mollie painted it British racing Green.
He served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during WW2 reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He came ashore on D-day but also he was one of the first British soldiers to reach Bergen Belson concentration camp but never spoke about the experience.
He really was incredibly sarcastic and had no tact which infuriated almost everyone except Carol Shelby who loved his straight talking manner.
Thank you.
Carroll Shelby was a Texan, we tend to be a lot like that, we love it when somebody's a straight shooter with us.
@@alaneskew2664 and Ken Miles is from the area known as the Black Country (like my Dad) which is similarly famous. I now know why I like Texas so much 🤣
@@jimherbert007 Then you need to come down to visit, We would be damn glad to have you
@@jimherbert007 Ken Miles was from Sutton Coldfield, which is North Birmingham. Not the Black Country.
His son was there when Ken tragically passed while testing a new car for 1967 race season. While Ken is known in the car racing world this movie helped bring his story to a much wider audience. It was well deserved.
I think that particular model ended up killing 2 more drivers before they figured out what was wrong with the design. It was something that couldn't be detected in wind tunnel testing, only occurring on a downslope in a turn at a certain speed range.
Than , Carol Shelby went on to create some of the worlds most iconic cars . So did Lee Iacocca . Both FORD and CHRYSLER.
This movie- more than any others- makes me recall an Orson Welles quote:
“If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story.”
Glad you enjoyed this one. I was also caught off guard by the emotion of it the first time I saw it.
Yea, every movie could go on until the point that the Sun explodes.
@robert punu You need to watch LeMans. The Steve McQueen film. That is the actual definitive race film.
Same. This film first time seeing it in cinemas really court me off guard.
holy crap. my heart broke a little bit for you. when they showed Ken doing that last lap in the sun with a big smile on his face, I know you thought you were safe and had made it to a great and happy ending of an uplifting movie. then the crash... i could see the dread in your eyes and then the despair upon realizing what had taken place. i felt it too, but your reaction made it hit even harder.
you're just so genuine and you feel so deeply. that's why you're our favorite.
I knew about the race for a long time, still the movie crushed me

sad part is that's how ken really died
Well said.
lol how was it sad... ? this was the only time i was able to watch without falling asleep & i'm an insomniac & rarely can sleep lol.
Christian Bale is such a scene-stealer in EVERYTHING but Damon really held his own in this flick. Great movie.
Great chemistry between the two who hadn’t done a movie before!
some of their best performances from both of them
In the words of Matt Damon: "Matt Damon"
Damon is very very good. Bale is next level.
I love that as a woman that is nothing of a car junkie or a racing fan, you understand the dynamic and friendships the run deeper than family blood in this sport. I loved how the story of the men in the race and build got to you. Thank you for watching this.

@@OriginalPuro That's a stupid thing to say. Anyone who drives a lot will get into a car accident at some point. The more you drive, the more accidents you'll probably get into. A lot of times it's not because of lack of skill but because of bad luck.
Yeah, the 16 car accidents was hilarious..

@@DerMoerpler At this point it's more than bad luck! ah ha I have friend who's never been much into cars, he doesn't like to drive and has waited till he was in his 20s to drive. And he's been in several accidents.
Other fun fact. Lee Iacocca (the one Ford guy you liked), later went on to become CEO of Chrysler and actually helped save the company from going bankrupt. He's impressive in his own right because he was one of those people who truly understood the industry and was a very effective leader.
And, Shelby helped him, by using his magic tuning abilities on many of the cars that Iacocca manufactured or imported. (Shelby was one of the people behind the Viper, not to mention the Omni GLH, and others)
Ah the youngsters won’t catch that reference but Iacocca was one of the most famous businessmen of the 1980s, almost as well known as Elon Musk is today among the general public. If a random person could only name one big business CEO in the mid 80s it was Iacocca

Another great movie to watch alongside Rush is Talladega Nights. I'm pretty sure it's based on a true story as well.
Love the details in the fight scene. At 16:25 you can see Shelby reaching for the can but then changing his mind to grab something softer to hit Miles with because he didn’t want to actually hurt Miles.
Yes I caught that too and made me laugh because thats exactly what my brother and I fought like.
"I call that one the llama bite."
"It took Les Schwab two DAYS to fix my brakes!" 😂 Oh man....that was so pure and perfect!
Glad you appreciate the skills that went in to those early-ish days of racing. Great vid!
My father was (briefly) a professional race car driver (mostly autocross/ SCCA), who became pro a bit later than this film (early 70s), but who did meet Ken Miles at a few events. His complaints about this film: it doesn't get the sound of the cars at all right, and Ken Miles was a very polite and composed man, an absolute gentleman to his fans. What he agrees with about this film is the passages where it talks about being in the zone- that there's a sort of transcendental clarity that one experiences in the race.
The sound is limited by cinematic audio mixing. Fortunately, it's very easy to find videos of these cars on the track and actually racing nowadays, so that makes up for it
Fun fact, in Europe his name is Ken Kilometers.
But he's about 40% shorter.
This comment........ brilliant.
He WAS European

The pure empathy you show towards a person or a situation has just more emotional depth and resonance for me than any movie plot, fictional or factual. We need more people in this world with the type of human depth and feeling you display. Just thank you and all the best kind wishes. 😊
"I thought his son was about to witness something so terrible." She wasn't wrong, just early.
The raw emotions... that's why we love watching you. Don't apologise.
After researching Ken Miles and watching this film, it just got me thinking…how much knowledge was lost the day he died. If he would’ve lived another 30 years, what he could have contributed to automobiles.
Miles must have been one to truly feel a car and know how to make it faster. With today's computer telemetry and fine tuning techniques to the nth degree, that's probably a lost art.
@@RichardinNC1 its true. But with how far computer simulations and fluid dynamics have come. A human has no shot against being able to run 50,000 simulations on a computer in a day lol

30:46 My favorite commentary about this climactic ending. "No... not in front of his son" - audiences that get sucked into the tale so thoroughly all made that same statement - at least in their heads. Here, Cassie shares it, out loud and so powerfully.
I talked to the director, James Mangold, about whether there was ever a movement to change the records to show that Ken won the 1966 Les Mans, and he said there wasn’t. He also told me that he felt Ken’s decision to slow down was a metaphor for a person sacrificing his own achievement for the achievement of the group, and while I see his point, it still sucks that Ken didn’t get the win because of a technicality.
Nothing that can be done about it, he didn't win the race. You can't go back and change facts just because the circumstances surrounding it were unfortunate. Ultimately, everyone involved should've been aware of the rules and known how far Ken would have to be ahead of the other Fords to still be the winner.
"Is it about the car, or the driver that makes one team better than the other"
Yes. Also the pit crew. A good pit crew can make or break a race.
Better car wins unless driver fucks it up. And most of the time, it’s the latter. So, in short, better equipment wins if pesky humans could handle it to it’s potential
@@BDogg2023 Formula 1 is a bit more in the, car makes the driver territory these recent seasons
Ferrari Racing's success was due to Enzo Ferrari's ability to spot talents. He started as a racing driver and even had moderate success, but he was smart enough to change course when he realized that he had the gift of spotting talents in every department that makes up a successful racing team, from drivers, car designers, crew etc. That also explains why he considered Ferrari Racing as his pet, or even his life; Ford's offer to run it was at odds with the very reason for Ferrari Racing's existence. In fact when he started Ferrari Cars for making and selling road-legal cars, he said it was a a cynical way to get money from those clueless fanboys for him to run Ferrari Racing.
The reason this hits so hard is twofold. Firstly it's a 100% true story. Ken & Carrol really did jibe like that. Ken really did die while testing after Le Mans. They took a few creative liberties however to keep the pacing. Ken Miles did not need to win the 24 Hours of Daytona in order to drive the GT40 at Le Mans. He already drove for Ford the previous year. Josh Lucas portrayed Leo Beebe brilliantly for how it was written. However most signs point to Miles & Beebe butting heads a few times but their hostilities were grossly exaggerated in this film. But it's kinda hard to drive a plot forward with no one to root against. Very few movies work without an antagonist. Second, and more importantly. Hollywood is creatively bankrupt and has been for some time. It's nothing but squeals, superheros and cash grab movies nowadays. Ford v Ferrari is one of the best character driven, character arcing and relationship building movies we've seen in decades. While based on historical events it does a pretty masterful job giving car people a "car movie" while simultaneously allowing anyone else who doesn't care about the car stuff to still come along for the ride and enjoy it as well.
Agree with this. My wife doesn't know or care a bit about car racing and we both enjoyed this. It's a solid story with engaging characters.
The real story behind the trunk lid is funnier. It was Shelby, slamming the trunk on the box, and asking "does it pass now?" And when he learned it did, he said, 'gimme that box, I have four more cars to do. '
Well said indeed!
This is a very, very good comment.
It really is something seeing "some car movie" resonate with a wide range of people. There was a little bit of everything here without being a Frankenstein of a movie.
as one of your French viewer, i can tell you, LeMans "is" and "was" something else! It got history, legend and fear and respect among the driver.
I've been to the race a couple of times. There's really nothing like it.
One of my all time favorite movies!! It’s damn near flawless and deserves way more praise
There's so many car fans that immediately tear up around the subject of Ken Miles--it's like he was a family member.
It's not a "car thing". It's someone soaring so high, AND taking one for the team.
My dad who is a big race geek, tells me stories about old races, and Bruce McLaren used to be his fav, but Miles had a special place in his heart
Yeah, Ken Miles is an absolute legend.
If you enjoyed this you might enjoy Rush with Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl. It's an excellent movie based on a true story about two legendary drivers and their rivalry in Formula racing.
Yeah, Rush is brilliant. When Nicki picks up those two Italian boys in the BMW... That's my favourite scene.

There's plenty of decent movies, some good movies, a few great movies, then there are gems of movies that are really rare. This is one of those rare ones in my opinion.
As a big fan of motorsports I saw this movie in cinema and it really got me.
Another movie you need to watch is Rush. It's about the rivalry of Niki Lauda and James Hunt in F1 back in the 70s.
Great characters, great acting. They were true heroes.
This and Rush are probably my two favorite car movies .
I like "Le Mans" as well, but it's basically all about the cars. Not much acting and the story line could be summed up in one paragraph. But, man, those cars are gorgeous.
Honestly, its totally okay to cry this hard. Its all based on a true story.
american holly wood true story
Not the exactly where Ken died, but that’s Hollywood. He was test driving, but at Riverside, for those old enough to remember a classic road course that took a few drivers. Fantastic movie anyway. Cassie really took that one hard.
@@servantprince Not really. Minor exaggerations. Such a Enzo being at Le Mans that year, Ken did race in 65 and Leo being a total prick as stories vary if he hated Ken or not. But he later said he would NOT have encouraged the tie had he known it would end the way it did. If Ken won all three major events that year, Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans, he would have been the only racer to do it and all in a GT40, which would have been an even greater boost for Ford.
I guess Ken also didn't die in a fire. What I read said he was thrown from the vehicle and died instantly. I love auto racing! It is my dad's obsession!
Best racing movie, in fact, one of the best movies ever in general.
I watched it on the VERY big screen with the best sound possible and it just blew my mind, I really felt I was inside the cockpit with Ken every time. This is movie was just perfectly done in every way: story, acting, directing, cinematography, sound, music, EVERYTHING. It was nominated for an Oscar and, like Ken, was robbed of it.

"24 hours?! Does he have snacks?" You're too adorable 🥰😆
I paid my money 3 times to watch Le Mans ‘66 ( released in the UK as that as we Brits have been going since 1923 and winning since ‘24 ).
I am born and bread in South Birmingham, about 12 miles from Ken Miles was born and raised and for my eternal shame didn’t know we were fellow Brummies!
Sutton Coldfield is Ken’s home town and mine. It amazes me that there isn’t so much as a statue or plaque to commemorate him here.
Fun fact: Ford wasn't the only one with a grudge against Enzo Ferrari. Carroll Shelby got snubbed years earlier by Ferrari who was unimpressed by his cowboy nature and as a result developed a desire to bring Enzo down a peg every chance he could get. He actually beat him at Le Mans, which is the flashback we see at the beginning.
Some of Enzo's racecars were said to handle so badly, they were considered to be death traps!
I don't recall if it was Shelby, or another driver, but there was a driver that tested in a car for him:
When Enzo asked how he liked it, the driver told Enzo, that it handled terribly.
Enzo's response was "You're not driving it properly."!
And then there was the other guy Enzo made angry, Ferruccio Lamborghini!
He also blamed Enzo for the deaths of several friends while racing Ferrari cars.
“I like him already” - this isn’t gonna go well at the end
Haha thats exactly what I thought..

This was a beautiful, genuine, and heartfelt reaction to an absolutely amazing movie. Ford vs Ferrari is one of my all time favorites. RIP to the great Ken Miles and the brilliant Carroll Shelby. 🚗💨
" It took Les Schwarb two days to change my brakes" and "Race-car-ing" Are my favorite quotes! Lol. One definition of a good movie is one that makes you care about or learn of something you had no interested or understanding of; Ford vs Ferrari is about the cars, the drivers (Ken), the companies (Carroll Shelby) and the CEO's and not necessarily in that order. Ford beating Ferrari at LeMan's was unheard of & would set the racing world on its head. That's what Henry Ford II "The Deuce" wanted at any cost. Nascar is all about turning left at the highest speed possible (no disrespect to Nascar) . LeMan's is a 24 endurance race with one car and multiple drivers (theoretically). Le Man's is on roads that curve, have bends, rises and falls and have different demands of a driver than Nascar (which approaches speeds over 200 mph.) An original 1968 GT-40 sold for 11 Million $ recently. The cars are iconic.
Loved "Racecaring". That will be used.
Why are you explaining all this?

"Besides it being horrible, it was amazing." Best review ever. 😂
That whole ending is tough. I was in some kind of shock, denial, and frustration the 1st 2 times I saw it. But watching your reaction just now made it really hit hard. There are times you make the experience of watching a film stronger and better and this was one of them. Bless your heart, Cassie. Your heart is something that reminds me of my own. And that's a special thing, I think. Thank you.
I think that’s the hallmark of a great reactor on UA-cam: they make you rediscover things through a new look and their emotions amplify your own.
When I originally watched the movie, I didn't notice how many times they hinted that he was going to die in a crash. There were a lot of notice but I was still shocked with the ending. They really make that character grow on you. Says a lot about the man in real life too I'm sure.
Exceptionally well-done film all around- Christian Bale and Matt Damon at the absolute top of their game. Even with the insanely sad ending, it was entertaining as hell.
It may sound weird, but I was so glad to see you cry at the ending. I hope a lot of people were as moved by the story of Ken Miles. My dad was closer to Holman Moody than Shelby American but anybody who grew up in a racing family knew about Ken Miles, and this movie has made him known to so many beyond the sport. Great driver, and he contributed so much to the development of the Mk1 and Mk2. Personal accounts differ, but most agree Ken knew by slowing to allow the photo op at Le Mans that he would not get the win, but he did it anyway. So glad you included this movie. BTW, another guy that I've always heard took Ken's death particularly hard was Charlie Agapiou, the young English mechanic who worked for Shelby American.

I also went into this movie not knowing the story or the characters, so Ken's death came as a genuine shock to me, as well. Great movie. One of my favorites.
I love watching Cassie's reactions because she falls in love with the heroes of these movies so much so, that she's helplessly crushed when something bad happens to them. This movie is a prime example of how she couldn't even hold back the tears when Ken died. For minutes she tried to compose herself and she just couldn't do it. I love that about her and this is why I love her channel. She brings her heart and soul to her reactions and it makes it all the more enjoyable to watch. Love your heart Cassie, keep it up!!
This reaction was one of the best I've seen(I've seen a lot)) in every aspect. Nothing over the top, no unnecessary chatting, everything on spot, even tears- yours made me cry too)) This is a great movie and great reaction!)
everyone always misses the most important part of the whole movie, at 16:24 you see Shelby pick up an item to bash Mile's head, then he realized he picked up a metal can and puts it down to grab wonder bread
You mean the part where Batman and Jason Bourne are wrestling in the grass like puppies?

Yeah, that movie is absolutely wonderful. Ron Howard (director) cleaned that one up very nicely.
Another great racing movie you might like. Rush.
Based on a true story. Directed bye Ron Howard. With Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Bruhl and Olivia Wilde.
Ich hoffe wirklich das sie den Film irgendwann mal schaut!!! Freue mich jetzt schon drauf :-)
I put off watching this movie when it was released. But I'm glad I finally did. Not many movies leave you thinking and feeling, even a bit empty inside after. This one definitely did for me.
I’ve watched dozens of your videos but I subscribed after watching this and your reaction to Planes, Trains and Automobiles. You’re reactions are completely genuine. You had me crying right along with you.
I knew you were going to lose it at the end, but I wasn't expecting that I would lose it watching you lose it.
Same
Same here, such a heart breaking ending.
Same here
Same here!
That's what CAssie does. She makes us sob even when we don't expect to.
You will love "Rush" it's another fantastic historical racing movie based on a true story done very well
I love this movie. My dad was a mechanic during this time period. He passed away when I was 4yrs old and I don’t have many memories of him, and for some reason this movie is special to me. Thank you for covering this one!
He lived by the seat of his car. Went out like a man. A true _man_
The casting really is what makes a movie/show come to life. Haven't seen Damon or Bales in a terrible movie.
Uhhh… they have definitely made some stinkers lol
Agree that Damon is good, however, when you see the physical characteristics of Carol Shelby at that time, I think an actor like Vince Vaughn would resemble a better physical appearance and I think he would have made a good Carol Shelby with his acting skills. I feel they did a better job matching Christian Bale to Ken Miles.
think she has a crush on bale. hoping she watches the dark knight trilogy, that'd be so nice
You just haven't seen enough movies. Matt Damon is in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Ocean's Eleven. A garbage film made by Kevin Smith to keep Jason Mewes off of heroin, and a soulless remake of a soulless cash-grab.
"Stuck On You" was ummm..... lol
My Dad's a mechanic and he loves this movie. :)
You are so genuine and full of heart. Your reactions are the best on UA-cam.
I met Carroll Shelby when I was a kid. He and my dad had business associates in common. He was a big, loud personality. I believe he said every word they represented that he said to mr Ford.
I've been racing cars for 23 years. The basic belief is that racing is 80% driver, 20% car. However, at the highest professional levels, the drivers are all SO good, that in many cases the 20% associated with the car makes the difference. However, if you put somebody without racing experience in a superior car versus somebody with a lot of experience in a poor car..... the more experienced driver would win every time.
Truth. Even the slowest driver in Formula 1 is insanely good.
That’s interesting. I am not a racer and don’t follow the sport at all, but I would have thought that once you get to a high enough level all the cars have to be similar in ability. So then it would come down to the driver.
I used to do track days at Spring Mountain Raceway in Nevada with the local Porsche club, and it was fascinating to watch first timers to performance driving have their expectations and egos blown away by the reality of it. 911 Turbos, Corvettes, and in one memorable session a Gallardo being utterly humiliated by modified first-gen Miatas. One Mustang or Camaro might be holding everyone up going so slow, but somebody in an identical car would be setting he fastest lap times of the day.
I drove a moderately modified Scion FR-S at the time, and was amazed at the cars I could keep up with or even pass, but there was a driver there who drove a less modified version of my car that was significantly faster than me.
@@davidmcleod5133 I race a Honda Civic with a K24 transplanted from an Acura TSX. When I run in the regular track days I can lap with the 911 GT3s, Corvette Z06s, etc. It's all about the skill level of the driver.
My Dad is a HUGE Ford fan and this was the last movie we watched together at a cinema before he died. As a huge car guy they TRULY captured what it feels like to be behind the wheel of a car you love. "The perfect lap" is such a real thing and I hope on day to have the money to have my foot to the floor in my dream car going lap after lap chasing that.
4:13 is not a stupid question and the answer is "It depends". If we are talking F1, the car plays a HUGE role, you can be the best driver in the world but not even Schumacher could win if the car wasnt up to scratch. If you are talking stock car racing or class racing like in this movie, NASCAR, rally, etc then the driver is almost always the most important factor. Sure the car can help but the driver is what truly matters.
5:47 Heh it IS a good race driver name.
13:31 Ken Miles was a once in a lifetime sort of driver - he had something that cant be learned or taught and the automotive world lost a lot of knowledge the day he died.
25:55 It takes like an hour tops to change all the brake pads on every car I've owned in my driveway with basic tools. Your garage is lying to you.
Or, maybe,...the garage simply has a full order book, and several other cars already in line before hers.
I completely did not expect Ken to die right after the race, and with his son watching! Completely cut me off guard when I first saw it.
The relationships in this movie are so great. My favorite is Miles and his wife. I love the reason for their fight isn't necessarily about her being scared or his lying. She just wants him to stop putting up the stubborn, macho, man of the house front and express himself and what he desires. So good! Thanks for the video.
I’ve been binge watching your reactions all weekend. I went through the entire band of Brothers last night. Great channel you have here. You don’t babble like a lot of them do and your vulnerability and fear of everything is quite endearing. I’m not afraid of anything except spiders.
I agree with the babbling. CASSIE actually watches the movies.
That's a pet peeve of mine: reactors talking incessantly, especially over dialogue, then they miss stuff. Cassie really pays attention.
What is worse is when they do a full screen of them selves when they are actually talking and then on top of that repeat themselves. “I like that I really like that that was great I thought that was great I really like that…”
"I’m not afraid of anything except spiders."
That's too bad since you probably would've liked the Spider-Man' movies 😉
@@lessthanlaughing4373 Oh, isn't that so and so? Wasn't he in *movie name*? Who was he married to? I can't remember... Oh. What did he say?
If you feel like watching another racing movie that's awesome, Rush with Daniel Brühl and Chris Hemsworth
Very very Good. Lauda said his portrayal was at 75% accurate. Which, coming from Lauda, means Bruhl was outstanding.
Totally agree. What a fantastic movie...
Rush is a such a good film. Daniel Bruhl & Chris Hemsworth do some fantastic work.
"Do they have snacks" LOL. I love that. Im going to paint that on my race car.
This movie is basically a historical recreation of how it actually was in real life. Names and cars everything is hiostorically accurate
For the most part, yes, but there were definitely some liberties taken for the sake of narrative. For example, Miles did not set the fastest time in qualifying or the fastest lap during the race, like the movie claims, those were both achieved by Dan Gurney in one of the Ford cars that didn't finish.
“Rush” with Chris Hemsworth is another fantastic movie about auto racing and as much as I love this movie, Rush is even better.
Rush is honestly one of the best movies of the last decade.
Agreed
Agreed. FvF is good, but Rush is GREAT.
This is definitely one of your best reactions to date.
I'm glad to see how people watch these movies and see that race drivers are artists and virtuosos in a way. My profile image is of Dick Trickle who is known as the winningest stock car driver ever. He was the inspiration for Tom Cruise's character name in Days of Thunder, Cole Trickle. It is believed he won over 1000 races. I was also fortunate enough to meet him and shake his hand as a boy. Love your reactions and your heart, Cassie. Happy Thanksgiving!
That scene at dusk with Ken and Peter was, for me when I realised it wasn’t just a good movie it was a great movie. The ending was so sad and your reaction showed how invested in the characters you were. Fantastic as always Cassie👍👍
I would love to see you react to the Matt Damon movie ‘Rounders’
This movie is a cinematic masterpiece and such a feel good movie, right until the end.... And the music, OMG that soundtrack. All that combined with the acting and the directing make this one of my favorite movies of all time. Glad to see it got to you as well....
"Do they get snacks?" :D
You mentioned watching Cars. Great film! It may have been an animated romp, but there was a lot of historical accuracy in it. Doc Hudson was an homage to The Fabulous Hudson Hornet team, painted just like Doc was in the film, and they won tons of races from 1951-1954. When Doc was telling Lightning about how dirt track racing worked, and the 3 wheel brakes - that was all accurate. My father used to watch the Daytona Beach races back then when they actually raced on the beach itself. I have home movies of the race where the raced up the beach, turned on to the road for the trip back and then back onto the beach for the next lap. Pixar did a beautiful job grounding the film in real history.
I think this may be one of the best reaction videos ever. You were so invested.
In Europe this film is titled Le Mans '66. In the US they changed it to Ford v Ferrari because most Americans don't have a clue what Le Mans is. So you are not alone in that. ;)
Pretty sad, isn't it?
They used to. I remember when Indy Car racing and Formula racing was bigger than NASCAR, except in the South.
I've seen this movie at least 5 times and although I found the ending sad I've never cried until watching your reaction. I LOVE your Channel.
I HIGHLY recommend “Grand Prix”, with James Garner, and “Le Mans” with Steve McQueen. Both Garner and McQueen were competent race car drivers when they weren’t acting (along with Paul Newman).
Both of these movies were made around the same time frame, 60’s and early 70’s, which is close to the time that “Ford vs Ferrari” depicts. Both are fictional stories, but rely on a lot of current (for then) tracks and locations.
“Grand Prix” is considered a cinematic masterpiece, and the musical score is pretty good too. It follows the season of American Pete Aarons (Garner) as he attempts to make a comeback.
“Le Mans” covers a weekend at the Le Mans 24hr race, almost as a documentary, through driver Michael Delaney (McQueen).
There was a biography about Ken Miles where Shelby shared the bit about "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life"... Shelby said "Well, Ken never worked a day in his life."
OMG, you're just the cutest. You had me at "race-car-ing." Oh that was so good, as well as the the comment about Schwarb taking two days for your brakes, my sides hurt so much. As others have mentioned, "Rush" is another excellent race-car-ing movie. (see what I did there...) It may not make you as emotional at the end but the writing and acting is second to none, much like this movie. I know it seems cruel to end the movie as it did, but please think of it from Ken's perspective. He died doing something he loved and as twisted as it might seem, his family was there to see and appreciate that, through all that pain and loss. Similar as to what Shelby said earlier, there are very few people with the fortune, drive, and downright luck to die doing what they love and were born to do. We all could only be so lucky as Ken. Perhaps my favorite reaction of yours yet. Thanks for the wonderfully emotional ride.
This movie got me as well. I am not a fan of racing, but watching this I can feel the passion someone has for it. And I also felt the loss when Ken died in the end. After I watched it for the first time I immediately checked the historic background and basically it is all real. So the grief of us viewers is real.
Thanks for sharing, Cassie.
it was hard for me to watch knowing how it ends and how you would feel but there is something cathartic about reliving my feelings with you as you feel them for the first time, that's why i keep coming back, your humanity glows and shines through and it's the best part of watching movies with you
So to answer your question about shifts during the lemans race. Yes usually for each car there are teams of 4 drivers each taking around 3-4 hours for each shift. they don't want drivers to have no sleep cause that would be way to dangerous
But there were drivers who finished and some winners who drove solo. Luigi Chinetti drove all but about 20 minutes in the late 1940s.
