I’ve worn CdP for decades because it suits my esthetic and needs. I was absolutely thrilled with the new release. I always purchase the eyeshadows as refills because I don’t carry my makeup around with me or keep it in a bag. The plastic case the refills come in is very sturdy. I already have Sand Dune and Caviar Pearls and recently ordered Warm Ocean Sunset. I apply early in the morning and the colors are still fresh; no fading or creasing until I remove my makeup at night. The primer shade contains CdP skincare and provides a smooth and soft luminous appearance to the lids. I apply it over my entire eyelid and brow bone and love it-which is saying a lot because I’ve always hated eye primers. BTW, I haven’t tried it, but in one of CdP’s tutorials it shows the primer being used over the shadow to add a pearlescent glow to the eyelid. Jen, don’t stress about the primer shade. You can use it or not; it’s up to you. It doesn’t really provide a lot of color on its own but it does have a very subtler impact on the appearance of the shadows. Are these new quads worth their price? In my opinion, it’s a resounding yes.
I so agree with you! I’ve been using CDP eyeshadows for years and it’s my favorite formula by far, I’m extremely excited about these and to me - yes, they worth it!
I’m happily passing on the Cle de Peau. I’m really impressed by YSL and have three color stories of them now and happy with that. It really comes down to what formula you’re looking for depending on your preferences, needs etc. I’m happy we have a lot of formula options these days especially since Dior changed their formula from my favorite to derp (my opinion) I know some people like the formula and that’s great! We are all here because we enjoy luxury makeup and have a beautiful community with which we can share that 💗 thank you as always for your review, comparisons and thorough thoughts on this formula ❤️❤️
These are beautiful on you. But thanks for the thorough review. These are elegant. But they are so expensive. And I don't like the primer in this either. I can get these color stories with things I already have. I love my Stora Dolls. But neither of these brands have enough magic in their range to make picking them up necessary. I can dupe all the Cle de Peau. So for now, these are a pass for me. Thanks for the video!💚
I love hearing your thoughts Jennifer!! The Cle de Peau quads look gorgeous but so expensive for me. Thank you for all you do!! The YSL Stora Dolls also looks beautiful. ❤
This primer shade can also be used as an inner corner if its light enough and you can use it and top the other shadows. It's basically a pearlescent kind of shade. It's not a unique formula honestly... Lots of Korean brands have such shades in their palettes. They help adherence of the other shades especially for shimmers. I like them and use them as main lid shade too
Looks super beautiful on you, both quads, dear Jennifer!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Thanks for another very honest beautiful video, i will for sure buy a few from these!!! Late here in NL/EU, gonna sleep, wishing you a wonderful day!!!😘😘😘😘😘😘
My gosh I’m so excited for those, can’t wait to pick them up at store, just waiting for them to arrive so I can pick two pallets in person. Thank you so much for your wonderful thorough review Jen!
I'm not prepared to pay silly prices for a trio of eyeshadow!! Yes, the colours are pretty but they're not (as far as I can see) particularly special or different. I appreciate you reviewing these palettes Jennifer, thank you 😊 Lots of love, 💚💖💚💖💚💖💚
Great review Jennifer! I got my YSL today and I love it. If I purchase a CDP eyeshadow I thought No. 7 and the purple one would be my picks. Thank you for reviewing these…so lovely!
Thank you for the video. I am interested in seeing #1, 7 or # 8 if pickup any more of them. I plan to get a few. They definitely seem easy-to-use and perfect for work.❤
Jen, I own every Dior Backstage Eye Palette that has been released and to be honest, I really don't mind the neutral primer in one tiny pan. There are still eight pans of shadow to use and the primer isn't included in every palette. I always use a skin-toned eye primer anyway, so this is convenient for me. With the CDP, you're only getting four pans and what they state is a primer, is more like a cream shadow instead, as the shades of the primer is different in each Quad. This cream primer also has a sheen to it, which not everyone would want completely all over the eyes. Unless you leave some of this primer/cream shadow showing, the look will be much darker without having a lighter shade to highlight, use under the brow bone or as an inner corner highlight. I'm like you as well, I prefer to use a palette the way I wish to, not the way I'm told it should be used. Even if we call this a Quad, it's still a rather high price to pay, especially compared to the YSL Quads. Sure, I love to use a lighter ethereal look when the mood takes, but I don't want the palette dictating what the look will turn out like each time.🇦🇺💖👩🏼🎨 🌟PS. Lipstick Day is fast approaching and YSL always have an offer of Buy 1, Get 1 free on their Online Store. As I recieve early access, I've scored six lipsticks for the price of three. 'Lipstick Day' sounds like a joke, yet I assure you it isn't and my order is on its way.
Thank you for review Jen! I never tried Cle de peau eyeshadows, but I think this is something I would really love. I just swatches YSL stora dolls yesterday and decided against it - the shimmery colour is definitely too much for me. So I think I will go for this one once they will become available in Canada. I love both on you, but #3 is especially stunning. I would be interested to understand to see 1 and 2.
Lovely! I’d be curious to see 5, 6 and 12; Coral Reefs, Caviar Pearls and Purple Ocean Twilight,.. but really, any other quads you choose I’d love to see! Also like 4 Ocean Sunrise, it has a soft-grunge look to me
I like the idea of the refills a lot. I find a lot of quads unnecessarily bulky and quite a waste of space when it comes down to it. I don't need them to sit in a case in a drawer at home 😊imagine the immense space we would save if we just had the pans. I'd love that. I do like the older layout better. It's more compact... But I am eyeing the driftwood quad and also the purple and no 7 ones
I agree about the primer ...to me some eye shadows I just don't always feel i need a primer . Depends . .love green colors too!! Great Video as always Jenn 😊
Gotta be honest here but I bought my new cle de peau quads through a Japanese site. At $83 all in these are 1000 times better than TF and cheaper. I have a few YSL and think their matte formula is beautiful but their shimmer is too such for my 50 year old lids & aesthetic. I agree that $110 is ridiculous but for me at $83 it’s SO SO SO worth it. Would buy them all ❤ BTW the primer shade is a gorgeous inner eye shade that brightens the look.,, no different and probably better than the TF or Dior sparkly toppers. Thanks for the excellent review.
Interesting. I can see how much lighter the colors go on. I agree about the primer shade. I also use the Gerard primer. They are really pretty , but it does WOW me ya know?? I vote YSL 😊😊. And I want 4 colors and have it be my choice. Again. Personal preference. But again,it’s what look you want
You're the first Cle De Peau eyeshadow quad review that I've watched even though my feed has been filled with them. I was not a fan of their previous eyeshadow so I was going to pass, but your review has me interested. I was going to buy YSL Stora Dolls, but now I'm going to wait for your reviews of the other shades. It would be great if you could do a comparison of Stora Dolls and it's CDP counterpart. Thanks for the informative review!
It’s coming up! And you’re so sweet to watch mine first. I’m sure there are great reviews from lots of folks. I will say this one takes some time to really get a feel for … more testing and comparisons are coming!
Wow, I think the primer shades are gorgeous! Both palettes give a sophisticated look. It seems the price point is like that of Sisley? The only thing I do not like about the green palette here is the tones of green. I am very happy with the Dior Jungle and the TF Khaki palettes, so I do not need more green. But your review is very good!
I’m late to this review. I’m also someone with mature eyes and limited budget. I’m on the fence between this and Surrat eyeshadow palette. I like the idea of making my own palettes but some of these color stories may work for me too.
Surratt does refillable pallets for a similar price point that you can simply replace the shades that you have used up,the pans are larger, and the formula is lovely!
I was thinking about Surrat over this. I like that I can put a blush and two shadows in the palette and it’s only $20 for the small one or $25 for the larger one.
These eyeshadows are selling out, 4 are gone already and none of the department stores have them yet. Are they permanent line eyeshadows? If so, I will wait. Well, I have to wait, the green one is gone. 😢 Your video articulated very well all the concerns and the hopes I have for these, that they are targeted to mature eyelids. So I do want to know how they will sit on my lids which can still be oily, but I have that thin crepey layer that looks like snakeskin if the shadows are too frosty. But I gotta say, my jaw dropped at the application of the green, the crease color looks like a triple chrome on my IPad. It’s STUNNING. I know your application is so good, would all this translate to me using it? I just don’t know…looking forward to more. I would have bought the green, but it’s gone.
I’ve been interested in these since I first saw the promo clips. My question in regards to the primer, it seems like you would go through it quicker than the shadows…then what would you do??? I consistently run out one color before the others in my palettes. And it is to expensive of a palette to replace for just a primer, even if the benefits of skin care and smoothing are worth it. Just my opinion. Love the honest review.
Jennifer I am a very fair read head … older . Really would love to know your top 2 concealers . I appreciate the ❤ . But I would really like to know . Would you do a video ? I’m going to Hawaii also would love to know your favorite skin tint also or heat routine , I am a glam , lux gal . But curious about your thoughts . I am all natural so want to know products that would be best . In opinion . Please P.S . HAPPY BIRTHDAY , sorry I’m late .
Hi Jennifer. Love your content. I wonder which of the CdP eyeshadows would work for darker complexions? My perspective is that they don't seem that pigmented and may not show up on dark skin. Thoughts?
Please.. I don't remember if I asked you or another person.. these new C.d.P eye color quad boxes/cases are they made of metal with plastic or are they plastic through and through? Thanks.
Ugh, synthetic fluorphlogopite is mica, and generally I hate it with an irrational fiery passion. I bought 2 of these, refills only. I have lots of magnetic stickers and magnetic cases. I got coral reef as my neutral, and the blue… But the mica… now I don’t know…
The old refills don’t look like they will fit. I will try and see if there is some way to make it work but the shape is entirely different as I demonstrated. You can refill the new cases with any new refill just not the old ones
@Allfeisty Sorry to sound like a whiny kid, I just have all the Xmas editions of the eyeshadow palattes, and for refills, I went to ebay upon hearing this news and grabbed some refills @ 15 a piece.
Thank you for the review! I will not be purchasing these. I like a lot of pigment in my eyeshadows. Dior, YSL, Chanel and Tom Ford are my favorite. I like Charlotte Tillsbury also but they do not stay on long.
