Why does ATC sometimes position departing aircraft on the other side of the runway? Like A321 in the beginning. It's like crossing over the street only to get back on it again. Each of those taxi areas can hold close to 30 aircraft if not more.

I think they are trying to prioritize the delays and give the way to planes with longer delays and get the plane out safely on time
jetBlue Airways does not fly to SFO from DFW. That flight was headed to Boston,MA.
Understand, I’m not sure I think it was diverted or other reasons
