There used to be a candy bar back in the day called Marathon which was a braided caramel covered in chocolate that was my favorite....I typically reach for a Snickers these days but I would prefer if they didn't have the peanuts

Depends on the day. Some days it's a Snickers, and others it's the twix. Then on other days it's that Baby Ruth or a 100,000 dollar bar. But dont knock that Snickers with almonds... yum.

It seems that the Joseph Magnus can't usually be found, but others, including Old Elk, have jumped on the bandwagon and might be easier to locate. I have never tried one, but the barrels used for finishing sound like good ones. Maybe one of these days I'll pick up the Old Elk cigar cut so that I finally answer the question of whether it tastes like good finished bourbon or tastes like an old elk, but I won't be having a cigar with it. For all of my life, I have always found tobacco disgusting in all its forms, and I cannot imagine smoking or chewing it.

But since it is so spendy and I can't find it, this is one of those special occasion pours.
Snickers is the king but kitkat comes pretty close. If I dont want caramel stuck on my teeth, kitkat hits real hard. Also cheddar/caramel mix popcorn is amazing. Try it!
I have a Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Batch 105. I paid $209 for it. No regrets for me. I love it! I will definitely nurse this one as long as I can. I don't know if or when I come across another whether if I will be in a position to drop that much again. Everything is getting so expensive!
I love me some Cigar blends. I have the Old Elk and Good Times cigar blends, both easier to find and roughly half the price of the JMCB, but neither one is quite as good. I hunted for a few years before I was able to find a JMCB on the shelf at retail, and I'm glad I did, but it isn't a regular purchase or a regular pour. I do enjoy the occasional cigar, and all 3 of those blends pair quite nicely.
I was able to buy a Magnus Batch 158 a few months ago. It is a very tasty pour. I'm glad I got it but because of the price, I won't chase another. ($220)
Regarding the Joseph Magnus cigar blend. No thanks. I get it they’re sourcing and finishing, etc. but it just doesn’t seem like the quality is there versus the price. I don’t think I’ve seen a recent review where it’s been positive saying that the taste was worth the price.
Magnus cigar blends are older bourbon finished and that’s for sure reason for high price., but I think msrp is like 160 , but may never see it at that price.

I get that small batches are blends, etc. I understand all that but there is something about creating something from scratch - from grains - in this case that I respect more. As a long time home brewer I did a few extract based brews 30+ years ago but all grain ever since those first batches. Maybe that's where it comes from for me. But I'm a NO at 200 for a blended and finished whiskey. And then Twix but best is anything with toffee or me.
We hear you on creating from scratch vs crafting something via blending. That said, we like it all, but the value on sourced stuff is definitely a tough pill to swallow at times.
This is a situation where I wouldn’t mind swapping 3oz with something I own and have the experience. I’m just 99% suspect of the price/value ratio of anything at $200.

Us too. Four videos a week with two full time jobs and family life was just too much though. Maybe one day we’ll find a way to bring them back. They were some of our favorites.

You can find a candy bar from the UK called Curly Wurly online that is pretty much an old Marathon bar.

We’re with you on the last statement as well. Most of the cigar blends we’ve tried don’t have notes like those but a few do and it’s quite jarring.

Joseph Magnus Cigar blend is good but not worth the price tag in my opinion. I typically get snickers flavors from Beam products like Bookers.
