"people don't know what they don't have..." I've been saying this for decade or two at this point... We've lost so much great musical devices and ideas, styles, techniques and progress over the years. It's such a shame. Maybe that's why this music speaks to the young people again? Because it's showing everything we've lost over the years. Great music doesn't need to be complex, but there's a point after it becomes boring, unimaginative and non catching... Older I've become, further into the past I've reached for great music. Better musician I've become, further back I've reached for wonderful ideas and great music... I hope this music inspires new musicians and we get resurgence of style and essence.

Just I want to Understand what do you mean by We've Lost So Much Progress in Last Couple of Years
@@Shade1331 I believe he's talking about how we've lost variety, and music has become much simpler, creativity has gone down slightly and people are sticking to simpler formula of making music, so he said great music doesn't need to be complex, but theres a point after, it becomes uninteresting, which I can agree with. It's one of the reasons I listen to Citypop so much, there's so much variety in each song, there's a simplicity to the main melody so the structure is intact and the song has a solidity to it but so much going on underneath as Tony pointed out in the video, I've been listening to bay city for 2-3 years now? that's what variety gives you, it makes the song enjoyable for longer, then you watch a video like this and you appreciate it even more.
Always stoked to see some more city pop. Anri has a few songs that seem like they would be right up your alley, A Hope From Sad Street in particular is such a bop that it's impossible not to really feel the music when you listen
So fun listening you break every piece and instrument. You always find a bass line or something in the background I miss even when I've listened to the song a dozen times.
Excellent succinct analysis on this one! This is a great performance and very creatively-written songs. Definitely top-shelf City Pop. Japanese song structure is always varied and unexpected. It's a regular feature of J-pop still today. It seems like the Japanese songwriting mentality is always, "How can we make a song different and interesting?"
my ninethent summer was spent doing reapirings to my childhood house, i listened to this song while i fixed holes in walls and painted some rooms, at the time i was so exhausted but now i think of that summer fondly, alongside my brother and my mom doing stuff as best as we could.
You need to check out her album Communication. It was the follow up to Full Moon, which Bay City was the lead single of. It's City Pop meets 80's Synthpop with the production you'd find on an early Madonna album.

What I like about this song is its cadence and how groovy it is for the whole track while managing to keep it fresh. Such a great video! Thanks for analyzing and grooving to one of my favorite songs. For other Junko Yagami songs, I suggest 夜空のイヤリング or 金曜日の夜 !
Plz do a react of "Last Summer Whisper - Anri", together with "Baby Powder - Jenevieve" which use sample of "Last Summer Whisper".
Try Masayo Kamagushi with Melty....

Day four of asking DrumRollTony Reacts to react to "Crazy my beat" by Coda
Day 1 of seeing your comment
@@DrumRollTonyReacts It would be really lovely if you react to that song. I think it is really worth to check it out. Its the same band that did the opening 2 for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure😅
I enjoy your reviews thoroughly so I’ll be super happy if you review more city pop ❤
