"I'm keeping an eye on the future, an eye on the past, and the present in my pocket, just in case I need a door" - a very powerful line for anyone undergoing changes in life.
I've been saying the same thing! After Morning View, his voice took new heights, pun intended. I don't know what he was doing, but he was reaching new notes with full power and that continued on Light Grenades.
He continuously tested his boundaries. It's less of his voice getting bad as normal aging. Most singers arnt always like this, they are more pedestrian by nature. Brandon and Chris Cornell remind me of eachother in that sense.
from morning view, to crows left of a murder and light grenades,,, yes i agreee this is brandon voice peak n greatest era1 he literally sounds like the album live and the albums sound him live..so yeah... this WHOLE period... the WHOLE band, including brandon voice was greatnes... i mean the whole group was killung it at this point. every one was magnificent wi=hich made and sutains the fact that incubus...is quite literally greatness!!!
Not for the Beatles ( and that's saying a lot ) they are my favorite band . I truly believe you can make a point by point argument that they are the greatest ( if you can use that term to describe art ) musical act working today .
In the world of the dreamer there was solitude: all the exaltations and joys came in the moment of preparation for living. They took place in solitude. But with action came anxiety, and the sense of insuperable effort made to match the dream, and with it came weariness, discouragement, and the flight into solitude again. And then in solitude, in the opium den of remembrance, the possibility of pleasure again. -Anaïs Nin
her sentiments is frightening me in tune with our plight at the moment. we’re in the plotting stage of the game. i’m looking at pages and pages of potential tour dates and travel arrangements, logistics, etc, etc. and if i wasn’t so completely ecstatic about everything at present, all these moments of preparation would be quite daunting. but we are excited. we just poured our hearts into this album…
Why this has only 56k views is a travesty. This song is fucking mind blowing, but as Brandon says, if you’re not affected, you’re not paying attention. Long live Incubus!
Man, this sound, the one explored on ACLOTM and to a much lesser degree Light Grenades. Well written songs with enough of a tinge of 70’s prog rock to perk up the ears of those who appreciate such artistry, but not so much as to alienate those who consider that style self indulgent. It was a perfect balance. Songs like Priceless, Beware Criminal, Agoraphobia and Light Grenades. I really wished they would have continued to explore that sound further.
100% this. I wish people back in 2004 hadnt just expected Morning View 2 from the band, esp given Dirk Lance’s departure, and had instead embraced ACLOTM for the bold, innovative album it was. Maybe the guys in the band would’ve felt more encouraged to continue down that road…
It's strange to hear about Anaïs Nin. It's off topic but I remember the first book of her(Little Birds) my mom gave me when I was younger and when I just started interested in this kind of written word. And some years later it's Fifty Shades Of Grey 😂😂😂. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Except, the essence of a bold, free woman in those years. The Quote of the writer express perfectly that personal feeling what he did talk about. What any artist feels. I think when you're a dreamer, you belong there. No matter who you are, no matter what you are. In solitude the mind goes a lot of places with this and you get an idea of it in your own way. Like fictional world. And then the reality in your head, you're less excited because the stakes are high enough. Assuredly harsh your mellow. The action is always daunting. Between dream and reality, you play out your own anxiety toward creation. Despite this, You want to try to make the way your heart feels last a long time; An undiluted pleasure very special.Precious and especially when it means a lot. I like how that part starts. See the palm trees, the sun's going down, sky on the move. And the quote of Anaïs Nin correspond fairly how they felt at that time. Very enriching and interesting to know every private thought before hit the road. In rehearsal or on stage, the quality is excellent. An Invitation to Awe. It's like a fiery espresso for cold winter days. It's rockin', your juice are going, it gets you pumpin' ... Shake your head! Sorry for this long comment 😝.
I'm keeping an eye on the future An eye on the past And the present in my pocket Just in case I need a door Into a brave new world where All solutions end up with my head Buried to my neck in sand Enough, enough bowing down to disillusion Hats off and applause to rogues and evolution The ripple effect is too good not to mention If you're not affected, you're not paying attention It's too good, too good Not to have an effect I'm keeping an eye on the pulse An ear to the track and penance in a locket I'm dropping from the highest floor When it hits ground I watch it smash to pieces Songs of liberation echo from the dust, the dust Enough, enough bowing down to disillusion Hats off and applause to rogues and evolution The ripple effect is too good not to mention If you're not affected, you're not paying attention It's too good, too good Not to have an effect

Incubus' Light Grenades era is the peak of Brandon Boyd’s voice IMO.

I think this era of his voice being at peak form extends into If Not Now, When as well!
@@skydivemaniacaging man :/ with years of singing like THIS his voice is destined to change, but I’ll always love Brandon he’s a legend 🔥
