Who else is checking the comments for "Craig" or whatever his name is? xD
i bet he got the cards on Craigs list
I checked to see if anyone commented on him pronouncing Craig as Kreg
It's Corey
M/\TRlX Nope, ebay for the DOA and my brother for the fake. Long story short, someone sold it to him for a hackintosh and he sold it to my son. My brother didn't even offer to give the money back to my son. Uncle of the year.
Me lmao
when you gotta lie about being a 650ti, you really havent got a lot going for you as a GPU.

Wow I guess that will be the most expensive mouse trap

NVflash won't work, I tried that. Chinese techs overwrite the BIOS using an EPROM programmer (physical) and a clamp adapter (SOIC8). It's not difficult but first you need to find the right BIOS. I basically built my (very very modest) youtube fan base by testing these chinese cards and haven't fixed these for lack of time. Good video man.
do a collab!
Simos Katsiaris oh that'd be awesome. Won't keep my hopes up, I'm just trying to give Jayz a heads up on how to recover these cards and give them some use, because with the hacked BIOS they're rendered useless.
Simos Katsiaris nobody likes wasting their money or being scammed, at least you can get a usable product and could eventually recover paft of your investment. Anyway, there's another guy who's recovered these fake cards, you can find his videos pretty easily.
I wish my Spanish was good enough to caption your videos on this in English.
Oh look, it's a Craig. Hi Craig.
10:55
If it identifies as a 650 ti you better respect it and treat it like one, it's 2018, dude.
DTR CS lol 😂
Don't feed the delusions lol
exactly the comment i was looking for hahaha
THIS FUCKIN COMMENT AHAHAHQA XDXDXDXD
There's no work after finishing your degree on GPU lineup studies.
you learn something everyday.
if you push 2 pc cases together, it makes a single massive one.
thanks, Jayz
Yoooo how did I find your comment
@@Jwellsuhhuh OMG 1 year ago! wtf thats crazy :D
Maybe u can combine PCs?
If you do this with a 1030 and a 2060 they make a 3090, right?
do you still reply? :)
Honestly when you make ads like this I really don't mind watching them lmao
I wonder where is nick I miss him in the vids :(
Totally Agree
Me too, i'd love to watch more tough
Jay and Nick put in a lot of effort and you can tell that they have a lot of fun making their ads unlike half of the dead soul ultra scripted board certified: "Make sure they say our buzzwords 4,000 Times. Wait is 4,000 times enough?"
spoj, there is a tech talk episode with nick where he explained it...
Unfortunately NVflash won't work with these cards. The actual bios chip on the card is modded, so you need one of those $25 bios modding tools from eBay to fix it. The actual chip name should be on the die, so take a look at that if you get the chance. Nice video!
yeah, shocking right??
Big fan of ya, Ozzy!
When you realize that he destroyed the card so there are no chances for recovery.

Perhaps remove the cooler from the fake card and see exactly what chip is under there?
Honestly, if he's not going to make the effort to do basic things like that, I don't see why he even bothered making the video.
there's no point in him even doing that but ok lol Everyone's an expert
Cloud Connected If he's going to ask the question, literally in the title, he could take the 5 seconds required to answer it.
It’s a gt450 some other UA-camr did a video on it

my name is Zack not Craig.... lmao well it was nice meeting you and I loved the video
@Supersam902 cuz it's bs
1:16 bruh did you add a fart sound effect?😂
If you have the time and motivation, you can ID the BIOS chip and get a programmer plus clamp to flash it that way.
Listen to this man, he is legit.
Man that jayz is waste of that fake card. Give me to me better. Save. Eco.
Phil to the rescue!
The programmer and clamp probably costs more than the knock off card and cooler.
not really worth it
My graphic's card identifies as an attack helicopter, and sounds like one too.
Attack helicopters circle my house 2 times a day. I don't mow my grass anymore, so the postman respects my property.... Oh yeah, Tall grass where I live equals a strong suspicion of growing marijuana.

You should take off the cooler from the card like what gn did to see what the actual chip is
let buildzoid analyze it
Yup; this is old news just look at the Silicon for what GPU it is and force update the BIO to what card it is.....Hey Jay I assume you don't know how to do this so just search Fake GPU in UA-cam and you can watch a real tech video how to fix it lol
john doe are u dumb ? "it's either a gt 130 or a 9600 gt ", i just expected him to open both cards before even trying to boot with them
Take the heatsinks off and read what the chips say if you have time! That will tell you what both actually are.
Bamfhammer he prob didn't care enough to do that lol
Probably right, but he could have grabbed a crowbar at the end to make that happen easier than trying to do it nicely.
Sometimes they take the gpu identification off of the die.
+Sir Lagsalot it is usually engraved in to the chip and trying to sand down the chip or whatever else to remove that could cause the chip to be damaged so they don't usually bother as it isn't worth the effort if in the end you are going to be destroying some of your stock of old cards
Zahid Shabir it must just be mine then. Mine doesn't have an ID on the die.
I didn't want to take up too much of your time telling you the story behind the cards with a line of fans wanting to meet you at LTX, but I have no problems boring everyone here.
My son earned the money for these cards (being paid $1 a chore for months). The "650 ti" came in and I had to tell him it was broken (since he didn't understand what I meant by fake). I told him I'd pay for the next card. The 550 ti felt like it was real and I even made note of the genuine looking stickers, but my hopes weren't high when I seen the rust on the bracket. His heart sank so low after the second card didn't work that he threw them both in the trash. I rescued them from the trash and ask, WWJD (What Would Jay Do)? I though back and remembered Jay fixed a card by reflashing the bios. I followed the video until I got to the part where I needed a clean bios. I took off the heatsink and the die had been polished clean. I did some searching and I knew it wasn't a 650 ti, but I couldn't figure out how to find out what it really was. I gave up at that point and told my son we would have to wait for card prices to come back down before I could get him a new video card.
A few months go by, and I heard Jay would be going to LTX. I had bought us tickets back February. So I knew were these cards had to go. If not Jay, then Luke or maybe even Linus. I told him that he would have a chance to win a graphic card at LTX, but neither of us had much hope of that. He caught a pair of glasses and later a Dbrand Grip for a Pixel and he was quite happy (even though he doesn't have a Pixel). He had so much fun that he didn't seem to care about the video card. As we left the oval, I ask him if I could buy his cards him. Both of them only cost me a single 1060 3gb this time.
I didn't think you would be able to get any nvidia driver installed or that you'd make a video this quickly. I'm glad you tested the "650 ti" in 4k. I don't think I have laughed so hard. Worth every penny.
Don't worry i know it's actually you Corey

You didn't check what was printed on the chip? I am dissapoint.
And if that doesn't yield anything, send it to electronupdate to photograph the die, unless it is too small for him.
1:18 , that deserves a sub :)
Why am I still watching Jayz, he did not even take off the cooler, clean the cards and check the chip die to see what GPU it actually is. Truly amazing what tech channels can get away with these days LOL....
The Define R6 commercial at the beginning of this is my favorite one
C... couldn't you have put GPU-Z on a USB on another PC and put it on your test bench that way...?
a tech channel that doesn't have utility usb sticks i even have stuff on my phone just in case
Tells us what the actual chips were. That was not really an effort.
The fire extinguisher bit just cracked me up!
It sounds a lot like what Nvidia use to do with OEM GPUs an example would be the GTX 260 OEM that had 2GB "1792 MB of DDR3 with a 448-bit memory interface. I believe these custom OEM GPUs existed up until GTX 600 or GTX 700 series
That GPU went rogue... Kill it with fire!!
That Galaxy looking card you got has the same exact cooler as my Galaxy GTX 460 768mb. The second I saw it I knew it was a Galaxy card lol. Recently tested and benchmarked this card for a video actually, and did way better than expected in Fortnite and Realm Royale!
Definitely a good idea, but the trend now is removable fan blades. Not alot of brands push the feature though, but the blades come right out and you can clean under the fan on a handful of different GPU cooler options.
There is actually an example picture of it on the GALAXY Technology Wikipedia on the chinese Wikipedia because its actually a chinese brand.
I have a GTX 450 from Galaxy and when I saw that cooler, I got a bit nostalgiac lol

that card took a bite out of you like scruff mcgruff took a bite out of crime.
BUYER: What card is it?
SELLER: yes
Well, jay, why didn't you remove the cooler and see whats written on the chip? no counterfeit manufacturer can make gpu chips...
I wouldn't be surprised if they start buffing it off though. Plenty of stuff from China they already do that to chips.
@@xabhax fucking Chinese knock offs. Should be banned from importation.

What it is is written on the die
You know you didn't have to go through all those countless reboots and gpu-z to find out what that GPU was. In fact gpu-z wouldn't even be able to tell you what it is, gpu-z can only tell you what the card says it is. Really all you had to do was take off the cooler and look at the chip.
John Crafton honestly I knew gpuz wasn't gonna yield much in the way of identifying information. as I currently still have a vamery 650 and 750. knowing these can be fixed is at least something.
the cards are probably old inventory from 10 years back or so. they could print new info on them, but I don't even think it's worth it
Its really not worth the effort to check the dies because the codes dont match up to what its supposed to be anyways
When the ad for the r6 (and squeezing together part specifically) is the thing that finally makes me decide to sub.........i gotta say I lmao'd pretty good

Do a GPU tear down tutorial
unscrew 4-10 screws remove cooler done
lol a tutorial for that? are people that simple nowadays
all you need is screws and time. if your gpu doesnt have a backplate, you can easilly get it off in 4 screws
do yourself a favor and don't touch electronics. you'll break it
I probably would have just removed the heatsink and looked at what printed on the chip on the first card. You said the second card worked but only for a short time which leads me to believe it is a cooling issue or the card is just fracked up. I would not have how ever just ripped it apart and then try to break the board in half without checking to see whats going on under the hood with teh heatsink removed. I guess when you have so many cards around to play with something like these don't mean very much to you but for others that don't have any extra cards laying around if you can get just one of them to work means there is at least one more card to install into test systems. I cringed so hard when you ripped the heat sink cover off like that and then tried to break the card in half.
Broke is broke, odds are that card had let a pretty rough life up till this point and was beyond repair. We all know Jay isn't in any way a repair tech, and (not that id expect him to) probably doesn't even know how to really dive into that.
Besides, plenty of channels with good videos on the subject of identifying these cards, this I'm assuming was meant to be a joke. As for including these old cards in testing, its unrealistic even if it did work. By this point a 400 or 500 series Nvidia card shouldn't even be considered as something we would want or install in a gaming system.
I get your point here and he probably just did this video to make content which is fine. I just cringed because of the way he just threw the card on the floor and then just forcefully tried to wreck it. If the thing powered up even for a short while chances are it was heating up or something wrong with something minor on the card either way probably an easy fix.
As for using it in a gaming system?? I said to use it to test systems on a bench like I do in my shop. If a system comes in with out being able to display one of the things you test is the graphics card if it has a dGPU installed.
I mean I keep things like a GT730 around for that type of testing, that being said Jay has more then enough cards, probably even some old stuff that I doubt it was any kind of great loss to him really.
These are usually low-end to low-midrange Fermi with modded firmware, they are reliable units and don't even usually experience heavy use anyway. The modded firmware that makes them appear as a newer more powerful GPU is the problem.
Graphics cards life matter
Fan: You ruined my knock off GPU!
Jay: I don't even know who you are.
LOVE the hinged fan on that. Counterfeit, sure, maybe, but there was some innovation there, also. I want easy clean hinged fan housings on everything now.
Ah man you should've disassembled the card too! Nvidia usually etches the GPU model on it right? You could've confirmed whether it was a 9600 or a GT 130
If you would have took a second and not break the card you might have been able to fix it. #Philscomputerlab has a way of flashing the BIOS with the card not plugged in the MoBo. When I saw him do this in a video my one eyebrow lifted all on it's own.
Yeah, but why do a proper video on the subject when you can do a hastily thrown together, half-assed video instead?
@InfernosReaper So go fucking make a proper video then you shill. Bitching all the way down though the comments doesn't remotely make you even seem like you have a clue what should have been done.
I found this video to be entertaining as fuck. I don't particularly care how informative it was or was not. If I want technical knowledge on a specific subject, I'll google that subject and find videos directed towards it. If I watch a video called "What is this GPU?!?" I'm here to chill and see what happens. Relax dude.
There already is a proper video about it:
ua-cam.com/video/Ra0T0j5KoAc/v-deo.html
I guess he just expected more from Jay that this.
@Eric Marcus, you actually made me lol out loud fer realz!
that fire extinguisher hahahahahahahahaha
nvflash will detect a card with a missing EEPROM. So work from there, short the data pin on the chip to ground and boot with another GPU, then with system running, unshort the data pin on the EEPROM and flash the card with nvflash, it will be detected. Basically the GPU chip sets a default device ID when there is no VBIOS modifier.
You can tell Windows 10 is really for pc's. Why would you want a PERSONAL COMPUTER that automatically does things you don't want it to do. I hate the auto update in Windows 10.

Those graphical glitches in heaven are caused by the memory actually being smaller then advertised.
Jay you can flash a modded bios on there and it'll revert back to actually reporting the right amount of memory.

Jaytwocentz has magical powers confirmed
I've had an ASUS HD7875 with a giant metal fan-thing on top. Bought it from a friend of mine who said one of the cooler made a ricking noise. I thought it would probably touch the fan-frame somewhere and was easy fixable with a dreml. As I plugged the card in all the neighbors in my area started their jet engines.. Except.. they didn't. This was the loudest I have ever heard any PC product to be. Later when I measured the noise level with a dB-meter the card seemed to reach 80 dBA from a distance of 5cm. To this day I still have no idea what the problem was. The card performed mighty fine at the time though.

This GPU Identifies as a 650 Ti
I lost it when Jay brought out the fire extinguisher
The first card's specs are probably those of a 9600GT, but they installed a 130 BIOS which confuses GPU-Z. You can see that by the textures glitching because the system is trying to load more textures on the VRAM than it can actually hold.

12:30 the vengeance of the card xD
What's happening with the first card, is it's claiming it has more VRAM than it actually does, and similarly to fake flash drives, when you try to access past the real capacity, everything starts getting corrupted.
