That is interesting. I'm curious what is different. I also wondered if you travel the opposite direction if they have different excursions and stops. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing. I skimmed through a few and it does seem like a different experience. We didn't have any options for Heidelberg. It would be interesting to know the reasons why these itineraries change. I assume money has something to do with it! Again, thanks for sharing...I just subscribed!
@@seniorsolotravel Thanks! For sure watch the first and last, the whole list is less than an hour. I'll be digging into more of yours too though I may have seen the older ones, I see I'm a subscriber to your channel already. We got to see a working windmill. The year we went water levels were low, so they put us on a barge for the stretch with the castles and moved us to the same rooms on an identical ship downstream. In this case, it was good to be with Viking, similar tours with other lines just canceled, one prestigious company canceled after everyone had arrived in Amsterdam!
It was good to see that after the Koblenz tour you are back on the boat in time to see most of the castles, especially Pfalzgrafenstein Castle, one of our favorites. We've booked our cruise for early July. I had chatted with someone from Viking about the Koblenz tours and found out that you reboard the boat further south. However, we were concerned it was as far south as Rüdesheim, which is past many of the nice castles. Do you know where you reboarded the boat? And did all of the excursions reboard there, or did some of them reboard later?
Ah, you're testing my memory! I just reviewed my notes and all I wrote down was that the ship dropped us off in Koblenz, and after we explored Koblenz, we took a bus to meet the boat farther down the river. I know we had time to eat lunch before we hit the area with all the castles. We then docked in Rudesheim. Another viewer shared that they took the cruise from the opposite direction and some of the stops were different, so I wonder if the trip changes slightly depending on circumstances. I would bet, though, that they will make it a priority to travel through that entire area, since it was the highlight of the cruise. I hope you have a fabulous journey. I'm sure the weather will be lovely in July!
@@seniorsolotravel Thanks for checking your notes for us. We've been on the Rhine before and didn't want to miss that section of castles. Initially, we didn't sign up for any Koblenz excursions, but after watching your video, we added the walking tour. Thank you for your lovely video.
I've heard from other people who have shipped things, but I haven't personally done it. There are some vendors who offer it as a service. I know when I was in Turkey, people bought Turkish rugs and the store had them shipped directly to their home address. I think you are correct, though, that it probably isn't cheap.
Another beautifully presented account. Thank you very much for the time, effort and knowledge that you must put in to produce such wonderful work.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy Travels!
This is a fantastic breakdown of the cruise! We really enjoyed our first Rhine River cruise.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I did this trip several years ago, it was interesting to see that many of the stops and excursions were different.

@@seniorsolotravel We went the same way, Amsterdam to Basel. I did videos of the tour, see the My Rhine Journey playlist on my HillOrStream channel.

You're welcome. I'm glad it was helpful. Have a safe and happy journey...
Do fellow passengers mind if you show them in your online photos?
I usually ask if they are ok with it.
Does any of the tour vendors offer shipping of your purchases to your home or is that prohibitively expensive?

What were the dates that you sailed?
Oct 30-Nov 6. It was a little cold, but mostly sunny. Just before Xmas markets, so not as crowded.
