    Finally, someone on youtube with the balls to run 100 psi in the pipe with no worries of catastrophic failure.

    Good video.
    Agree,Wire or no wire it’s always important when you’re showing people something to do it the safe proper way.
    That way you prevent someone at home that’s doing it for the first time from seriously injuring themselves or damaging there own bike off your own content.
    Thanks
    Keep them coming.

    I used a shark bite pipe cap on the silencer side. I just did this for the first time last night. Way easier than I thought.

      Applying heat to a sharkbite-type fitting of any sort can soften the plastic in the fitting and cause it to fail. Ask me how I know.

    I’ve been doing the same thing using rubber expansion plugs and put a air chuck fitting on one end and use my leak down tester so I can regulate air pressure and then just use the torch, it works good for automotive headers also

    Your method works. I have used it in the past. However, I much prefer using the hydraforce method. To each his own. I fix many pipes each year. I have to MIG weld cracks in many of them, as well as welding on their brackets. Just part of living with a 2-stroke if you ride in rocky terrain. 😉

    So satisfying to watch those dents come out. But I also like mowing the lawn and pressure washing the driveway. Must be the gratifying results from the effort or something?

    One of many things I don't care for on the Beta is the old style pipe bolt system - the bolt that was missing you showed is like the old KTM style. KTM has a much better pipe connection system on their 2020 and newer bikes... I also agree with you, those pipe guards are so ugly! Great video Morgan.

    I use rubber freeze plugs, fill the pipe with water then freeze it checking on it. Could use freeze plugs for this method also

    Keep in mind, the internal air pressure will increase as you heat the pipe. So don't go crazy on the initial room-temp fill as you might pop the clamps when the pipe gets hot. Morgan's recommended 100psi would be the max I'd go if you had a bunch of dents pop at once. That or let the pipe cool between dents.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  5 місяців тому +1

      It definitely does. But I have checked before and the most I have ever seen it raise is 10-15psi

    I was blowing dents out every couple months. Then I mounted a huge ginormous shovel type guard, think it looks good and much easier to true up than the pipe. I don't think its strong enough to tweak the frame IMO.

    I've fixed several pipes myself and I found if you use some cutting compound and a car buffer you can buff out the heat marks and you cant even tell it's been repaired.

      Royal jelly removes the discoloration in raw steel created by intense heat . Just be careful if you want to keep that bluing around the welds.

    hi great tutorial ,one question you started with 100 p.s.i as you heat the pipe to remove the dents will the air pressure increase? and iif it does should we adjust the air back down to 100 or is it within its tolerance ? sorry for the silly question

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  5 місяців тому

      Not silly. Yes it will increase. But not as much as you might think. And no need to adjust. The way I do it, it never climbs too much.

    With the nickel coating on the PC P2 does excessive heat wear the coating, or does the oxidation buff off? I'd like to do mine but there are a lot of little small dents and may take a good amount of heating.
