      It's a difficult situation. You think they like what happened or somehow don't care about the girl who was stabbed? That's an awfully infantile view of the situation.

    • @kukalakana
      @kukalakana 5 років тому +10

      That's a hell of an assumption that they wouldn't speak to her family if the family *wanted* to make contact. It's just as likely a matter of giving them space and awaiting the moment when *they* (the victim's family) are ready.
      ...which may be never. But in that situation, you'd probably be waiting to see if and when it's okay too.

      Yep, shows a lot about their parenting and I do not believe that their daughter with this obsession with slender man never once said anything to their parents about it. My daughter around this time right before this incident happened heard about slender man at school and than watched a video on youtube about it and she was like 9 and it bothered her so much that she came to me and asked me about it. I found the origins of the story of that one and also Jeff the Killer (which she had heard from a classmate that scared her even more) and showed her how it was a made up story from an individuals on the internet. I explained that creepy pasta site to her and how it was all just made up stories. She was completely relieved. I think these parents ignored their child and didn't parent. I can guarantee she did tell them and they most likely laughed it off and ignored her instead of trying to have a teaching moment. Just like this isn't their daughter's fault in their minds they probably believe it isn't their fault either, just scratching it up to the internet. Please, your daughter hated the victim and used peer pressure to get the other girl to do her deeds!

Idk how you would feel after trying to process the situation that your own offspring had caused, but i would definitely feel sad, guilty, and scared- not only for me but for her. She will never get the life that they had intended for her and there isn't anything they can do other than accept it. The victim was very injured, yes. But she lived! That's a miracle, and now she gets to move on, get married, have kids and just have a life in general while the girls who did that crime to her will barely even see the light of day till theyr'e old old women. I'm not saying what they did was at all okay, like fuck those girls that is so beyond messed up and stupid but you cant blame the parents for hurting just as much as the victims family, everyone is sad and confused. they're both dealing with the same issue just at different spectrum's, i have remorse for the parents and families, not the girls who acted on this at the slightest but the family i can feel for. I didn't find them creepy, i found them to be sort of nervous and only trying to be informative for the sake of their daughters name- but idek she stabbed some girl savagely with no remorse at the time, of course she has remorse after shes in trouble. idk i don't feel for the kid, i do for those that loved and hoped for her. I hope these families can continue life making it the best that it can be, they shouldn't let their daughters dumb ass decision stop them from being happy and active. Fuck those girls honestly, and i am just so so happy to know that Payton survived this horrendous act and i wish the best and more for her!

      I didn't say she had a choice??.. What those 2 girls did is beyond unforgivable, also i never said her life would be normal but it sure does get to continue. Payton is no doubt struggling still and always will but she has a chance to look past it and try to move on and be happy while those girls are jailed for most their lives-AS THEY SHOULD BE, with their parents feeling their guilt every single day. The parents of Payton still get to say they have their daughter at home at the end of the day while the other parents sit in despair for what could have been for their now criminal children and rethinking what their kid committed toward another kid. I"m pretty sure you' be pretty fucked up if you heard of what your own child that you loved and raised did. To be fair here, no ones life is normal and both families were affected negativity from this event. What those girls did was selfish and the parents should not feel like it is their fault and the parents of payton should not hold a grudge toward the parents of the other girls, but they can hate the girls because fuck them. I wouldn't blame their own parents for hating them after what they did so soullessly, pathetic honestly. I hope that everyone that is having to deal with this case and are coping with all the pain and confusion are doing well and that they'll be able to look past this and just feel blessed to have Beautiful Payton still walking this earth, it wasn't her time and she will go on to do great things. As for the other girls, i hope they do a lot of thinking and that they see how foolish this attack was. The slenderman...really??? just pathetic is all i can say about them.

    • @MidnaAzusa
      @MidnaAzusa 5 років тому +53

      Think about it this way. Peyton's parents are getting sympathy from others because their daughter was the victim. These two are getting blamed for their daughter's actions (parents aren't the only source of a child's behavior), accused of covering up or defending her (like any parent would, though notice they didn't say she didn't do it), and basically treated as though they're criminals (guilty by association, I guess). Of course, what their daughter did was terrible, but the saying "hindsight is 20/20" comes into play here. It's easy for those of us who don't know them or their daughter to say, "Well, they should have known something was wrong," but that's not fair. There aren't always signs when there's a problem. My best friend tried to commit suicide several times. Her parents were on guard for the later attempts, but she did a great job hiding any evidence from them (or me) before the first. Two of my friends threatened to shoot up our school, and, again, there were no signs. They just wrote a note one day when they were upset, and then they were in the juvenile detention center.
      Besides that, they probably blame themselves for all of this. Again, "hindsight's 20/20." Looking back, you start thinking about the things that you could have done differently or the minor details that suddenly seem hugely important. If they're constantly trying to think of how they could have prevented this or why it happened in the first place, then yeah, I'd say their struggle is about equal. I'm not justifying their daughter's actions, and I'm not claiming to know anything about what happened or why. I'll leave that up to the legal system since that's their job. But all of the families were victimized in this. You'd probably be going through hell, too, if you learned that your daughter had psychotically attacked one of her friends, nearly killing her.

These 2 are simply the first generation who have grown up with youtube and parents had no idea. It's like the obesity epidemic. Once kids were all skinny now there is a huge problem with obesity. In the future there are going to be HUGE scary behavioural problems with children. So unless you don't have young kids I wouldn't be so smug and unsympathetic if I were you.

      But you cannot consider a child as young as 10 as an adult and judge him/her as such ! Their brain isn't fully developped and they have still difficulties to differentiate reality from fiction. At 10, you only just realize the finality of death. Once again, the USA have the most absurd laws ^^. You HAVE to judge those kids, of course, but as what they were at the time of their crime: kids.

    nothing happened to their daughter, their daughter put herself in the position she is in. Payton's family deserves a lot more from them than an indirect apology and saying that they're suffering too. Payton was almost killed at the hands of their daughter, not to say that they as parents can't suffer for what their daughter did, but to me, it will never compare to the pain Payton and her family feel.

They didnt nearly lose their daughter. They didn't sit by her bed wondering if she'll make it through the night. They didn't have to watch their child be betrayed by her best friend and left for dead. They have no clue what remorse is. The mom could barely even form a sentence lying through her teeth

      I think that that might be oversimplifying it a bit. Because the attack would force them to wonder if it was somehow their fault because it was their child, and so they would get a lot of secondhand guilt. That’s not to say that their suffering was necessarily the same or worse than those of the other parents. However, it might not be fair to compare it in the same ways.

      Ask any parent, would you rather have your child survive a stabbing, or would you rather have your child to become a murderer and locked up.
      Every parent would pick the surviving good child over a murdering psycho so in some aspects I would say the parents of Payton are WAY better off the other ones just found out their daughter is beyond saving, in prison and the family will be forever in bad spotlight. There is no moving on from that for sure.
      Payton their parents atleast can move on, I'm strickly talking about the parents but you saying Payton her parents suffer worse then the other parents you are delusional, look at that man he still can't accept his 12year old girl turned into a murderer or already was one since birth who knows.

      In my opinion, it’s not equal. It’s worse for the family of the girls who attempted murder. Imagine being in the family of someone who tried to kill another little girl. They will forever be seen as having raised a murderer. The other family, while struggling with what happened, are victims. They will have public help and support. But that family was right in one way- those parent’s child is a psychopathic murderer instead of a survivor. So yeah, it’s not equal. It’s worse.

    While I agree that there is suffering on both sides the type of suffering and the degree of suffering cannot (in my opinion) be compared. If you were speaking directly to a victims family, invalidating their suffering is probably not the best thing to do.
