      Well, when the D-line can’t get pressure like they couldn’t in 2023(relative to Georgia standards), you’ll realize Kirby is speaking the truth. He’s been saying all offseason he has concerns about that room specifically and I believe him.

    You got to realize that Kirby statements come from a coach that has the best record in football the last 4 years. His comments are based on a Championship pedigree….Championship or bust mentality.

    The deterioration of football is an interesting point. The CTE movie with Will Smith that came out a decade ago is making more and more people reconsider playing football or letting their kids play. Maybe that’s catching up to college football now.

    Same old stuff from Georgia playbook every game or season. We're down, hurt, key players injured, yada yada yada. Vince Dooley years back did same thing. Then after the game, they won by 30 plus points.

    Any time Kirby seems upset he’s just pushing his guys because he knows they’re elite and he’s trying to keep them sharp. Plus it’s gamesmanship. Last year he was super pleased with the effort etc and they ended up not being as good. He has a reason for every word he speaks.

    Kirby is talking about His level of competition. He's not talking about anything else. The team is not where he wants them to be. He wants tier 1 college level backups, and 11 on offense and 11 on defense that can play at the NFL level, because that's his level of competition. And that is a winner's mindset!!!

  • @acrum21

    I get it that he says this every year but he’s not lying either. They’re going from 3 scrimmages to 2 for fall camp. Holding guys out of practice that he’d normally have them push through. Longer path to championship game plus portal losses is legitimate. They’re still sitting prettier than anyone else but he’s not lying

    Small price to pay for more parity, where a wider range of teams have a legitimate shot at winning it all. It makes the sport more exciting as a whole. Watching the same 2-3 programs get into College Football Playoff got old. Last season overall was probably the most exciting season we've had in a decade.

    You hear kirby smart say pretty much the same thing saban said. The way I see it is they aren't getting all the high recruits qhere he has 4 and 5 stars on their 2nd string. Those players are getting dispersed over the country because of NIL. They don't have the depth because of those players going to other schools.

    • @michaelchancey5505
      @michaelchancey5505 27 днів тому +1

      Player development for one thing, these kids out of high school are looking for immediate playing time and jumping around teams to get it and the money. They run the risk IMO of season ending and possibly career ending injury if they’re going up against juniors and seniors with seasoned veterans. Maybe that will all pan out, but the main thing that I see happening is the evolution of two main collegiate divisions of higher and lower levels of play which will be disproportionately impacted. I liked the regional conferences aspect of the game much better way back when than it is now. But I’m a 68 yo boomer so what the fuck do I know anyway? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @aaronjones691
      @aaronjones691 27 днів тому +1

      @@michaelchancey5505 but I mean some of that they do anyway cuz if you go to bama as a freshman there’s always that possibility but I see the point of view especially from the portal perspective but I think nil is good for the game lowkey college football been more competitive than ever in recent years and as far as development coaches need to get back to doing that because they haven’t been developing for a while I’m talking before nil and the transfer portal ngl

      @michaelchancey5505 27 днів тому

      @@aaronjones691I agree generally NIL is a good thing these players should be paid for their talent but I guess I just think there’s many players making less money on that team who make that high dollar player look good. Hopefully that cash will get spread around if you know what I mean?

    I understand what Kirby Smart is saying, if you break it down all the way to pop warner league, I'm 53 yes old, and played for a dominant team, we had a 30 kid roster if not more, nowadays, kids don't like football, or or into gaming and crap like that, football is slowly dying at the little league level, and Big time football is going to feel the effect of it long term.

    • @cfly87
      @cfly87 26 днів тому

      Yes I agree. Between corporate greed and softening from the top and over coddling from the bottom, it is changing rapidly. Can't even hit a QB anymore...they are worth too much $ With NIL now a thing, players will be a brand now in college too. So we will see an increase in big hit calls, pass interference calls, and roughing the passers calls. Just like NFL.
