Words cannot describe how awesome Paul is. His playing, the way he teaches... all top notch.

Paul is the most articulate teacher ever. How many guitarists say: I don't know what I am doing or I can't play it slowly or I don't how to explain it? haha 3 dislikes are newbies who were lost at "power chord" ............

Hi Paul. Thanks for the great lessons! I would like to request a lesson on decending triplet arpeggios as in Rex Carroll's The Hammer & The Nail solo. I just can't seem to figure out how to get that type of thing flowing like that.

Quick question: would it be ok to sweep up at the start. Paul seem to be down picking the legato.

Can I play this with just my first three fingers on my left hand? Using my fourth feels a bit weird...

Nothing to stop you, but strengthening your fourth finger is probably one of the main objects of the exercise. Hurts though! Good luck

i agree with ajs, but you will eventually hit a blockade and have to train your pinkie anyway.

Yrs, u can play with only 3 fingers. Ronnie montrose only used 3 fingers. Whatever feels comfortable to u.

The bottom two strings are in key, but when you get to the G string I am not sure if the third note is in the right key. I am guessing you are either in Am or G major. So are you adding one note out of key or is there a reason for this? By the way I like your playing, it is just I am trying to understand the music theory.

D# in Am is a bluesy note

You are correct that there is a note out of key. When he plays the 8th feet of the G string, he is playing the flat 5th of an A, an E flat. This note is out of key techically, but a lot of players myself included like to splice it into our scales because it actually sounds good if you don’t spend too much time on it!
