    I don't like the idea that you can send in a near perfect pack and get an 8 or 9, but if you send in for a new holder they will still give a 10 despite the pack being creased. So basically they are saying a creased pack is in better condition than a non creased pack. PSA be trippin. Lol.

    I think the reason why they are consistent is because they have a serial number for each pack in their system for the grade they gave it before

  • @ragnakh
    @ragnakh 3 роки тому +6

    You do this with cards too, saying it doesn't make sense to you.
    Here's a couple reasons why that may seem so:
    -PSA has upped their grading protocols using newer technologies so they should be a little more stricter than before (They also have to because European companies are grading harsher and that's what people want eventually)
    -The system they use for grading is unfamiliar to you because, simply, you don't work at PSA, so you have no real reference how they go about a grade, what makes you lose points etc, you might have a decent idea when it comes to cards but packs is a different ball story.
    If you ask me, PSA is only rated this highly because of the years they are in the game because their grading is surpassed by a lot of companies right now. (GRAAD, Becket, AP grading, CGC,..)
    Also, their slabs look like a traffic sign, maybe that works for sports-related cards but I think its absolutely horrendous with Pokémon cards.
    If American people are reading this, a lot of companies in the EU started accepting cards from the U.S. for grading. Much nicer range of slabs and no easy 10's.
    And most importantly, not a one-year wait and not 150 dollars a card.
    Don't get me wrong please, I still love Rev and the content he brings, I just think he should go outside of that PSA bubble :D

      the only thing I have to say in disagreement is for value as a collector, psa is it my friend that's the standard cards have been held at, packs too, and so if you want to list value it's still psa and it will probably will be always psa unless they fall off suddenly. That being said I totally agree they're overrated but as collectors you can't deny their staying power. As a value alternative I much prefer bgs especially that sexy black label or gold, but there are much better alternatives for sure if you're just looking to grade, European included. Personally I'd go tga at the moment.

    Not sure what is going on but PSA has really started to go downhill. I have seen so many videos about them destroying cards when holdering, opening packs that went in sealed, etc. At this point, I don't think I would trust them with my cards. I have been sending to CGC and not only are they less expensive but they are very good about handling my cards with care. It is pretty hard to pull a 10 with them but I actually kind of like it because I know a high grade from them truly means it is a fantastic card.

      @@Shad0wgun I totally agree! Part of the reason I am using CGC is because they now have a reputation for grading pretty tough. So I know a 10 from them is well deserved. PSA is where I would send stuff that I know won't get a 10 from CGC but I really just want a 10 on my card. Sad but true.

    A PSA Gem Mint 10 pack is a virtually perfect pack that should exhibit pristine corners and edges, which are free of any holes, tears or wear of any sort (including not having any wear to the corner folds). The seal on the reverse must be virtually undisturbed and free of any soiling or toning. The sealed folds on the reverse must also lay flush to the pack and not exhibit any lift from the seal. In addition, the pack must be "fresh" in appearance and free of any water or mildew damage to the wrapper or gum in order to qualify for this grade. There may be an allowance made for a small printing imperfection as long as the pack still shows superb eye appeal.
    Note: The top card within a cello pack must be centered approximately 65/35 or better.

    This was really informative! Thanks for doing it! I don't think they should dock the grade. Happy that you got it in a 10 again 👌

    Consistency is good, but if I purchased the recase zard for 10 price and it arrived creased like that I wouldn’t be too happy, the 8 looked so much more visually appealing. Its a tricky call.

    the foil above the crimp is noticeably thinner in 10 and wider in your 8
    the 10 has one line on the seal and the 8 has 3
    in case anyone is still confused haha

    The first case you opened from the back to the front so you had to remove the extra layer, the second one you opened from the front so the crimp holders were just floating :) Great stuff my dude so interesting how they grade all of these with them being so dang close in appearance.

    They must be smoking some serious stuff down at the PSA! Their whole system is a joke and so inconsistent. Would it even be that hard to explain why they downgrade items? especially for the price people pay and also when they give 10's to items they've clearly damage and don't want to compensate for.
    Thank you so much for the vid Rev, totally love your content but I truly can't believe what I just watched! utter madness on PSA's behalf. This doesn't prove how good PSA are, it clearly shows they need a system overhaul and fast! and lets be honest, you all know you couldn't sell that pack on as a PSA 10, despite what the label says. The pack was never a 10 from when they first squeezed and folded it into that tiny case lol

    The truth is they knew the cards you sent in were from previous grading, they check the UPC code. This is how they protective themselves from what you were trying to experiment with. So technically this didn’t prove much.

    • @MeatballMedic
      @MeatballMedic 3 роки тому +1

      The UPC code is the same on every pack. What are you talking about?

    • @vengeance7092
      @vengeance7092 3 роки тому

      @@MeatballMedic Yes but this one was sent by that specific account. So when they brought him up maybe realized he sent in a similar product. I wonder if they register it. Unless he sent them out under a different account name. I say crack that baby open, create a new account and send it again. I am as curious as you are if they really have a accurate grading scale.

    They should mark the reholders with something on the label. like previous PSA 10. I saw a video where someone cracked open the old case and got a worse grade.

    The reason for the lower grades is because the old slabbing method in my opinion creased and damaged the packs. This is why I never submitted packs until recently. The new issue is the total inconsistency in how they grade packs currently. I would get 10's on some packs that have more issues on the packs I got 8-9 on. They even caused one of my higher value packs to pop open and still charged me $200 for the grading servide. The grading fee was for telling me the pack was altered??? Damaged $1000 pack and $200 for the grading service. Great customer service from PSA.

    Could it be about the alignment of the seperate colours of the prints as well. Most things that are printed have colour alignment dots or squares somewhere on the box or pack for the printer to align the printing plates . Just a thought .

    I actually agree with the 10 being a 10. The crimps were the straightest and it only has one solid line down the crimp on the back.

    Only true way to test conspriracy theories is unslab and use a sharpie on it somewheres small but noticable and see if they change the grade, otherwise you can tell they just check serial numbers

    I think the difference is in the centering of the pack art, the 8 looks like it was off to the left a lot, the blue front part was overlapped to the back of the pack. Other than that the 8 looked better overall to me *shrugs*
