I had a friend, Safi, who died in early May, and I did her memorial service toward the end of May. I only knew her for a few years, but she was an amazing person. She was trans, and a few years older than me (an "elder," but not really elderly, if that makes sense...though she was a parent, she's more like a big sister to me, which is interesting because I only have genetic younger sisters, cousins, and nieces), and extremely stylish--her and her partner (who is still a good friend) both have a unique dress sense, and make a lot of their own clothes, and would go to Ren Faires and such fairly regularly. Safi did have some stomach issues, especially toward the end, when she died of multiple types of cancer that weren't even fully identified yet by the time she died, one of which was probably some sort of stomach cancer; she hadn't been eating well and was losing a lot of weight over the last year of her life, before we even knew there was something wrong.
